    Morning Sheila and Roger:

I am not only UP early but am on the PHONE early! Hubby's truck broke down yesterday and he was unable to get it fixed.

I am trying to find someone to work my 'corner' for me today as hubby had to be at work at 5:00 and he has taken my car, so I am on foot.

We have 4 alternates and I have called all of them. They do NOT want to work in this weather, so I will probably end up calling the police department (my bosses) and they will have to send an officer to work for me this morning and afternoon.

§ue (who doesn't like to miss out on the money)

    Hi Sue,

Well, Sheila, since I'm trapped in the house, I will probably get some much needed housework done!

With my Bronchitis, I don't dust and vacuum until I absolutely HAVE to and, sadly, that time has arrived again! :(

I will have to call hubby at work today. He has a doctor's appointment right after work and I forgot to remind him this morning. He will not remember it with all the confusion with the car and truck this morning.

Sue, sorry you are not feeling well again. Do you damp dust? that is a lot easier and also does your vacuum cleaner have a filter system?

    Hope you soon feel better?

    Blessings

Blackbird! The halftime show was on at 8:30 HERE. Church is at 6:00.

Betty, you may have seen just as bad or worse on those Survivor type shows or soap operas but it sure shocked me! Thankfully Nick was playing in his room.

Sue, sorry about the broken down truck and you having to miss work. I'm sure the police can figure something out but shoot.....

We'll be heading out to swim lessons in just a minute so I won't be on til late today. Hope everyone has a great day!

Thanks Sheila; I am not feeling bad, but probably will after I dust and vacuum. That kicks up the Bronchitis. I wear a mask, but my vacuum is so old it does not have a filter. I have started using a "Swifter" duster and that has helped a lot!

    Good Morning Diane!

Noooooooooo. I don't want the police to SHOOT the kids...just help them across the street! [IMG]

No, I have not seen just as bad or worse. I just looked at the link of the picture here on the Baptist Board.

Even if I did see it, I would not describe it in detail or link a picture to it here on the Baptist Board. That's what shocked me!

And yes, we were still in church at this time.

The news channels have all been showing reruns of that commercial all morning!

I hope if anyone got 'excited' they realized they were just seeing a mass of cilicone. [IMG]

CBS issued a statement this morning saying it was very doubtful that MTV would produce any more commercials for them. They SHOULD have known better in the FIRST place!

From what I've seen on the news this morning, that commercial was not the ONLY commercial considered to be in bad taste during half-time!

Sorry folks, but I have to say I am surprised that so many kept watching with the raunch that was already taking place before the incident. I saw the clip on Euronews this morning.

All the more reason to "love not the world or the things of the world."

Super Bowl half-times were not worth watching when I saw my last one in 1994. I was not really surprised when I saw what happened, especially considered who was "performing"

Sorry to be so negative :( .

I am with you, Roger. I refuse to view professional sports on the Lord's Day anyway. Still, the world has its own rights to behave as it pleases, and we ought not to be shocked at anything this world has to offer. Some Christians like to make big issues over nothing. It wastes a lot of time and accomplishes little for the Lord.

We patronize shops on Sunday and then wonder why people have little use for the church. There was a time in Canada when Sunday was officially the Lord's Day, and all shops were closed. Now Sunday is wide open, and who is at fault? We hypocritically protesteth too much! A Sabbath Day's journey was approximately 1/3 of a mile.

    Cheers,

    Jim

I'm with you Christ4Kildare, I would not have been watching it even if I had been home. I can't stand the music in the first place, not to mention the gyrations that go with it.

I agree Roger and will go one step further.
Football games are not worth watching either! [IMG]

We do not cancel church for the Super Bowl or any other activity (including bad weather).

Good morning folks! Hope you had a blessed day in the house of the Lord yesterday? [IMG] Judging by the remarks I read above, the Patriots won? BTW, I do not watch American football. I am more or less a baseball fan. So, for me there is now sport from the end of October to the beginning of April. :(

We had Evangelist Ron Hood in our church yesterday. We know him and support him for over 10 years. His wife, Barbara, and their youngest son, Joseph, were accompanying him. They were quoting entire chapters of the Bible, and were also asking the audience to give their favorite Bible verse reference and they would recite it. They specialize on Bible verse memorization. Following the first service they were our guests, together with the Pastor and his wife, the church pianist, and another young couple. So we were 10 around the table! Lenke, my wife made a great lunch.... everybody enjoyed it. Then she gave doggy bags for everyone to take home with them. [IMG]

This morning early, I was doing the dishes. We had three washings in the machine, and the fourth one was just placed in there a short while ago. But I am used to this. I often say, "My wife is the mixer upper and I am the fixer upper!"

My computer is still on the fritz, so I am resorting to use my old one, which is about 360 MHz in speed - compared to the 1.3 GHz of the new. I hope something will give, and I can get back to my new computer. Have a nice day all! [IMG]

Boy Howdy, all. Had forgotten about the massive world-wide appeal of World Cup Soccer, since it is simply an afterthought in American culture.

We in Wyoming get really irritated when the "elite" in Washington DC or New York or LA think the the world revolves around them. We yell, "Hey, don't forget all the rest of us!"

And then we, as ugly Americans, take that same attitude like the world revolves around OUR sports and need to be reminded that there are a few BILLION people out there that don't have anything to do with US sports.

It WAS a good game, with a lousy rock concert in the middle that detracted from it.

Just a quick hello! We left around 8 or before for swimming lessons. It's only about 22 miles to the ladies facilities but it's 22 miles of back country roads. Today's lesson lasted until 10:30~ She wanted to get a feel for each child's abilities and she chose to separate the class into two groups. There were 3 boys who are 11 and up and 3 other children who are so-so swimmers. The other 6 children, including my Nick, are non-swimmers. The 'swimmers' will have the early lesson and Nick's group will begin at 9:45 from now on so I'll not have to get up and out so early from now on! What a NEAT place! The lady has horse back riding lessons (inside) as well as a petting zoo area, parrots, cockatiels and parakeets, big loving dogs, outdoor play gyms, volleyball, etc. She runs 'day camps' during spring break and the summer time with her two grown kids. She's about my height and close to my age but just sweet as can be.

Off to clean and do our school work! We've gotten a late start with swimming lessons but I think swimming is VERY important.... especially for a child who has a non swimming mom... like ME!

Sue - Illinois is getting hit hard this winter, isn't it. BTW, it is 16F at 9 am withe a high aiming at 40 later. Light snow is forcast mid-week.

Sounds like a neat plan, Diane. Nick is blessed to have a loving and caring family.

And what is stopping YOU from swimming lessons?

It certainly is Dr. B.! Actually, we had a mild winter up until a couple of weeks ago. Since then, it has been one winter storm warning after another!

Our normal high for this time of the year is 34ºF...not -5ºF!!!

Right now, the roads are ice-covered and we are expecting snow on top of that. And hubby has MY little car at work instead of the big TRUCK he is used to driving!

He should be home soon though. He is taking this afternoon off so he can get his truck running and give me back my car so I can go to work tomorrow! :D

Diane: You need to be taking swimming lessons too!

Global warming (or the lack there-of) is a political hot potato!

Diane - get in the "Bug Tub" with Nick and learn to swim.

Our granddaughter, Abigail, talked to us last Monday and informed us that "We are having a baby!" Seeing that Abigail is only five - the only possible conclusion we could come to was that Kelly and Elizabeth are having their fourth child (come August).

I ask Kelly if he knew what caused this condition to occur - he chuckled.

Abigail told us that she wants a baby sister - as she already has two brothers.

Now don't you think that NaNa and PopPop are both smiling! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    Dan - I can't wait!
