Sue, glad to hear you're taking a good turn! Can't keep a hard-workin' woman down! At least not for too long.

It's rainy and dreary here, and all's quiet so far in the office. (Shhh! Don't disturb the computers, they're busy.)

menageriekeeper, I don't have the housekeeping gene either. My solution is to just not do it. As long as we have food to eat, a clean place to sleep, and my family is not sick, being perfect doesn't matter. Besides, I have two other grown people in my house who are quite capable, and have plenty of time on their hands.

Looks like a good day to either curl up under a quilt, or go to the mall! Sadly, I can't do either. Here I am [IMG] working.

Gayla, try sage tea. Really cleans the gunk off! I have a blackberry and sage blend from Republic of Tea (from Barnes and Noble) that I like. It's supposed to clear your head and make you wise, too. But I can't swear to that part.

Boy Howdy. Warm wind, with the emphasis on WIND today. You flatlanders have no idea . . .

Since NO ONE is interested in all the unrequested health information on the evils of soda pop or how vile coffee is, I've decided on a new motto:

    Eat healthy
    Live right
    Die anyway

    Whaddaya think? That'll preach!

All things in moderation...Wot can I say? I have lived this long, and who knows how much longer.

    Cheers,

Yesterday was my father's 77th birthday. He had a blood vessel rupture in his head a few months back and he's having a little trouble with his memory now but that was his first illness other than a kidney infection as a young man and a treatable case of Meniere's Disease (inner ear problems). Would you believe they inserted a thin and coiled wire to close off the rupture! New technology I think!

The youngest has been picked up and mom is taking him to the doctor. He seems to feel so very bad. Probably just a bad cold but mom is quite concerned because he ended up in the hospital before when she tried home treatment for what she thought was just a bad cold.

My house reeks of Lysol spray now!

Dec 7 is my son-in-law's 35th birthday. "A day that will live in infamy" FDR said about him (I think)

Gotta scoot. Wife teaches a nutrition class on the first Tuesday of the month (10-noon) and in Dec we have a dinner. Made a turkey, stuffing and greenbean casserole yesterday. So I have to set up the stuff (hot) to when she's done we can eat.

And games and gifts. What fun.

    Sounds fun, Dr. B!
Diane, I know you hate having the germs like that. I cant stand it when piano students show up sick. After they have their lesson, I spray the piano down with Lysol, too!

There's a big wreck on the highway so my daycare parents might be late tonight. 13 vehicles, 6 tractor trailers and 7 cars. One of the big rigs had a fuel spill so they've closed both sides of the highway. Thankfully I was able to call Jim before he got on the highway and he can come home a back way.

Oh I am so sleepy! I sure need to go to bed early tonight!

    Evening all:

I felt some better today, and of course, tried to do too much, so am very tired and coughing again.

Brent is getting the sniffles now, so we are putting our warm jammies on and curling up on the couch to watch Christmas movies on the Family Channel.

I will probably check back in before I go to bed (unless we fall asleep on the couch!)

Brent and I are watching "The 5 People You Meet in Heaven", but I can't stay awake long enough to see the ending - it is on for another hour. :(

I'm sure it will be on again, since this is the second time this week. [IMG]

My body is aching for my nice comfy mattress and my eyelids are drooping and I feel like I might get a good night's rest... ;)

    Pleasant dreams all!

Night Sue. Hope you sleep well and feel even better tomorrow.

Ty's mom called and she has an errand to run in the morning, helping a friend, so she's bringing Ty between 7 - 7:30 instead of between 5:30- 5:45. I get to sleep a little later!

Hope everyone has a wonderful night with pleasant dreams!

So sorry I missed your post earlier!!
There are a couple of things you can do -
    1) voice rest is the best thing, but thats not often feasible
    2) sip some hot tea with lemon juice and honey in it. It doesnt "kill" the frog, but it will keep your vocal folds moist and create a healing environment (They are swollen)
    3) if you dont have a 'chesty" cough, then try clearing your throat instead of coughing. This works if its just phlegm. (Never have understood why they couldnt just spell that "flem"!)

These may or may not work. It depends on the reason you are hoarse in the first place. Let me know!! Hope you are better soon.

Boy Howdy, it is WINDY in Casper. We lost our wind sock at the airport with the 60+ mph gust. They replaced it with a chain.

    Dr. Bob,
Do you get that nasty weather from what those northern states call "Alberta clippers?" It went down to minus 30 last night, and not much better is expected for tonight and tomorrow. That is Celsius.
Put into Farenheit, the low was minus 22 with a windchill factor of minus 33 (-36 C). But it will warm up by the week-end. Take care.

No we don't here in Casper. They head south and east and just clip (pun intended) the NE corner of Wyoming (Gillette, Black Hills) then ZIP toward Minneapolis.

We seldom hit zero. But the wind is warm Chinooks coming down (adiabatic heating of air rushing downhill) and melts off snow almost as soon as it happens.

So that is fairly nice weather. But I suppose those Chinook winds can be quite a nuisance at times. It is what makes our southern neighbour, Calgary a bit warmer than us much of the winter, but it also causes them some unexpected flooding at times.

    Good morning all:

I had a fairly good night's sleep last night. I think I only woke up twice and it seemed like I went right back to sleep!

I am not coughing as much this morning and I actually was able to take a deep breath this morning. (I'm not gonna push it just yet though)!

One doesn't realize how good it feels just to be able to breath deeply until that capacity is no longer there. Our bodies ARE, in truth, wonderfully and fearfully made!

I finally finished our Christmas cards and the mailman picked them up for me yesterday. Brent finished his last night and they will go out in the post today.

My hand is healing nicely too, but I dare not bump it yet. The two gashes were much deeper than I thought and the hand is quite bruised, but I can move it freely now.

Where are all the 'early birds'? (no pun intended blackbird)! :D

Diane should be up and checking in soon and where is Roger, Gib, and Sheila? I KNOW they're not still [IMG] !

Coffee is brewing and tea is steeping. DP is cold on ice, waiting for Barnabas to stop by to pick them up...

I would like to get "COMMON GROUND COFFEE HOUSE #64" up and running before Brent and I start our home schooling time this morning.

I am actually hoping to get some 'real' work done today - but at a very S L O W pace!
