Night Sue! I can't even get Nick to bed this early! It's almost 10 here and he's drinking hot chocolate and watching Laurel and Hardy.

Evening all. My son JP and his wife and Noah, Cami and Chloe arrived at supper time. Left Western Idaho at 4:45 am and drove like crazy!

Not such good time for daughter Lyssa and her hubby and Daniel and Natalie. They had to wait for dad to finish grades, etc, in college and could not leave until 1 pm. By 5 pm they were in a blizzard and roads closed, trucks off in the median, etc. They got a motel on the MN/WI border and will have 14 long hours tomorrow. Ugh.

But God is in control. We walk (and drive) by faith.

    Good morning all:

I just saw the weather forecast. It's going to be -1º Christmas morning when we deliver the papers!

Santa isn't going to be the ONLY one outside freezing his tail off in the wee hours of the morning...

Hmmmm, since he's going to be out anyway; ya think he'd do the papers for us? Nah, they'd probably end up on the roof!

We have a few errands to run after school this morning and then do the papers this afternoon. We are going to eat lunch at A&W. It's "coney dog day".

Brent and I are also going to attempt to put plastic up on some of the windows. When the wind blows, it will not stay warm in here!

    Cruising,

I remember those days. We had 1 small heater and it stayed in the bedroom. Even on high, it was frigid. We tacked tarps to the inside of the windows. The bathroom was the coldest room in the house. I remember using the hair dryer on the seat, to just to be able to sit........

Good morning peeps. It a warming day here in Columbia and will be 68 tomorrow. Can you believe the weather folks are saying that we have a slight chance of snow on Christmas day!

Please pray for that to happen!!

    Have a wonderful day everyone.

At one church in Saskatchewan, food was stored under the kitchen floor, the kettle would freeze overnight sitting on the kitchen cooker (woodfired). We banked snow up to the bottom of the windows all around the house and brought the battery and spark plugs indoors for the night. The day I arrived there from balmy Toronto it was 50 below zero and I was more than ready to catch a train back.

To-day, we heat 2000 sq ft with one woodstove, but we also have supplemental heat in the bathrooms that come on when the light switch is activated. There is nothing like an outdoors loo at 50 below...at least there was no lingering to read the last chapter...

    Cheers,

    Jim

Well Good Morning to all our dear friends! Nick and Ty are covering with an Indian style blanket and rubbing themselves with it and then coming over to shock me. Ty has on a Tigger costume with a hood and ears. His mom said 'good luck trying to get it off him!'

We're going to make some EASY cookies today so the boys can decorate and eat them right away. I figure they'll be really pretty with a 3 year old putting on icing!

Well I need to make my list for things to get from the grocery store for Christmas Dinner.

    Good Morning all!

The weather man is calling our forcast for the next few days a "casserole". We are going to get a little bit of everything. It is warming up quite nicely today the high is supposed to be about 60. Tommorrow rain and storms turning into freezing rain and maybe snow on Thursday. I'll believe it when I see it.

Sue, Gib and Jim, your posts made me glad for the blessing of living where it is warm most of the time.

Diane, I think I'm sending T out to get what we need for Christmas dinner. The turkey is already here.

    Everyone have a good day!

Yesterday while Nick and I were waiting for flu shots, the Health Department was playing all sorts of Christmas music. Last night we ran to Wal-Mart for a few items and they had a local church choir inside singing religious Christmas songs. Anyone else noticing Christ in Christmas in places you might not expect it? I was pleasantly surprised.

Jim will pick up the things for me too, Cindi. He likes to shop. I hate to shop. I just need to check my cupboards and make the list. We have a couple of turkeys in the freezer from when they were on sale last month.

It's up to 34° here already and is supposed to hit 55° by this afternoon. Nick's looking forward to playing outside again today. He fell asleep right away last night after hours of playing hard outside. [IMG]

I went to the Post Office (on the square) yesterday and our Courthouse had Christmas music playing on the loud speakers.

You could hear it for several blocks in each direction!

I am a smiler - whether anyone smiles back or not. Yesterday, almost eveyone I met had a smile on their face. Why, oh why can't we be like that all year?

And if we can't; do we really have Christ in us at all?

A good question Sue, but we are not all perpetual smilers, as it were. It can also be called a "silly grin" by some. Just as there is a season for everything, so there are circumstances that change. The important thing is countenance. This includes a smile, a thoughtful expression suiting the situation. All the emotions are given credibility in the scriptures.

Paul counted it a privilege to suffer for Christ's sake, but it didn't prevent him from talking about, or even complaining, about his calamities.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Good morning, brothers and sisters! Today I'm sitting at my computer, looking out the window at the grey skies overhead, and feel the rain coming soon. We're supposed to have SNOW here tomorrow and Thursday!

I don't drive very often, but I've got to go out today. Please pray that the Lord gives me a safe trip doing the little things I need to do this morning. Also, please pray for Vivian. She's got today and then tomorrow. She's got a very bad sinus infection, and it's affecting her balance. (I know this isn't the prayer request forum, but, I hope you all don't mind me asking for those two requests! I'm praying for all of you today and every day.)

This is very true Jim. I guess countenance would have been a better word to use.

I don't mind people complaining about their lives sometimes.

It is the people, who when you smile at them, grunt and look away, or snarl at you, that bothers me! [IMG]

Just prayed for you and Vivian, Tony.

Not sure if I mentioned this here before, but I am in the old fashioned habit of holding doors for others, especially ladies. I held a door the other day and a woman gave me some smart remark about her hands not being broken, and she immediately went to the other closed door.

    Attitude is everywhere.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Ah, Jim, I remember keeping the toilet seat next to the stove and then carry it under the coat on a run to the little house. IT was the only thing warm for certain sure!

Sue - lots of stores in Casper will be OPEN on Christmas! Others open at 12:01 am on the 26th. Can't believe it. So they want the paper to carry the after-Christian sale flyers and get the first shot at people who got $$ for Christmas.

Our paper will be as big as the Sunday paper, on Saturday!

I can relate to that: the last time I offered my seat to a lady on a city bus, she reacted as if I had intentionally insulted her somehow. She was probably in her mid-60's (at that time about 20 years my senior), and she curtly told me that she was "perfectly capable of standing, and that she "certainly didn't need my seat!"

So much for respecting one's elders and/or being chivalrous.

Fellows, when you offer your seat, or open a door for a Lady, do it with class and smile! I have done this for the past 60 plus years, and I have always been rewarded with a smile and a hearty THANK YOU! [IMG]
