Oh, I can relate to this too. Visiting my grandparents (in far northern MN) as a boy, I remember waking up to -40 or lower some winter mornings. The old farm house (ca. 1900) had the facilities out the door & about 25 feet to the side of the house. YIKES!

Later, in the 1970's, there was a local snowmobile race scheduled one fine January morn. Although the thermometer read -45 that A.M., we clueless Norwegians bundled-up & headed out to it anyways. (Head-bolt heaters on cars can be very helpful on such days!)

Just thought I'd drop in for a moment and let you know that I'm moving!

From my field office in Cuba, NY to a new field office in Oramel, NY!

Now you might have a rough time finding Oramel - it's between Belfast, NY and Caneadea, NY. Still lost? Caneadea is just down New York State Route 19 from a Christian College named Houghton College!

Have fun looking on the map!

    Dan - travelling man!

I've used many an outhouse in MN, Canada, Illinois and Indiana. Canada was the COLDEST place! Hope I never have to go through that again!

As far as holding doors open for others, I do the same thing, even for some men, and I do it while I am standing there with my cane. One guy the other day, older than I was, got so red with embarrassment that I thought I was going to die laughing. He was going into the store, and I was, too, but he just looked so pitiful. After I got through the door after he had gone through, I had to help he and his wife pull their cart out from the others...LOL...He tried to tip me! I just laughed, patted him on the back and said "Merry Christmas! Jesus loves you!"

True story. Coming out of Belks, I held the door for a group of seniors coming out behind me. The 1st lady was fidgiding in her purse looking for her keys. She saw I was holding the door and said thank you. She looked back into her purse and ran smack into the closed door.

She looked over to me and said, "It works better if you go out the door that's open." One of the other ladies said 2 things that made my day. She said there are not very many folks who will hold the door for other folks. Then she thanked me for the laugh and that she would remember that day for a very long time.

    I'm dying! :(

After a very nice, quiet day, someone in the neighborhood decided to burn leaves. I'm allergic to very few things and this is one of them. Right now I feel awful. Son and Bitsy are suffering too. Bitsy is still sick with her sinus infection and now her eyes are watering and she's sneezing. She's already had zyrtec today so I'm afraid to give her anything else.

It's not even necessary to burn leaves. The city sends around a truck every week or two till the end of December to simply pick up leaves. You don't even have to bag them. I don't understand why folks think they have to burn them.

Anyhow, how was everyone else's day?

    I am going to bed...

    Pleasant dreams all!

It's probably too late to respond but you CAN give Benadryl with Zyrtec. Dr. had us give Nick Singulair, Zyrtec and back it up with a half dose of Benadryl if he got bit. A full dose would make her really sleepy. PeachCare decided those meds cost too much and insisted on Claritin which causes Nick anxiety and painful urination so he's on nothing this winter.

We had a lousy afternoon too. A rude person frightened Nick and he's fretting in his sleep. I hope it's not over that! He generally has problems with leaf mold and burning leaves but so far is fine. Maybe he's growing out of it. He's growing SO tall!

I've had a headache since early yesterday. It's an odd headache and seems to start in my upper back, go through my shoulder and up the side of my head. Tension, most definately.

Hubby is working VERY hard but hasn't had any more work for his second job which only makes any money if he sells something. Wrong time of the year I think. He seemed quite down tonight. Please whisper a prayer for him.

T didn't have a good day either Diane. Hopefully very soon he will have a position that pays his entire salary instead of having one department pay part and another dept. paying another part.

I'm glad you responded so fast. I gave Bitsy a dose before I came back to post. She said she was sooo tired of being sick. "Being sick is boorrrinnngg and all you can do is lay in bed" is how she put it in her best whiny voice.

I'm going to take a couple of tablets myself when I start to bed. I wait because benedryl knocks me out big time. Hopefully it will be raining by the time we get up in the morning and it will wash the smoke out of the air.

He's actually working 2 different places, 2 different jobs to try and catch us up. One full time and one by appointment (for sales) only. A few bills remain behind by one month. Wish they'd be nicer about it! We're trying to sell his car. That would help a LOT. He has a new company car that he can use for personal use too. They also provide all the gasoline and insurance on that car.

We see so much affluence these days, I thought this list of Christmas gifts received in 1945 in an affluent family: A Blackie's Boys Annual, a five shilling postal order,a fountain pen and a book on public (private) schools, a chemistry set, a couple of notebooks, ruler, eraser...and that was Christmas in 1945. I could list wot a poor lad received...I was just starting seminary that year.

    Cheers,

    Jim

PS Dr. Bob,,You had a seat?

18º right now and mostly cloudy with a high of 21º today. 11º tonight - 19º tomorrow and 4º tomorrow night AND Friday morning while delivering papers. [IMG]

It seems our cold snap has ended. We used the air-conditioner last night. Our weather today is shaping up like; Cloudy 55oF
    Humidity: 93%
    Pressure: 30.20 inches
    Wind: 6 mph, NNE
It would be a perfect day to do absolutely nothing, but alas I owe, I owe, so off to work I go.

Good morning folks. The high in Columbia will be around 65 today, now that is more like the south.

    Have a blessed day everyone.

Morning all, Jim was up at 2:00 and woke the rest of us. I did get a little more sleep but still have that headache from Monday.

Jim cannot remember where he put one of the most important presents on Nick's Christmas list! I've looked in the places I'd expect him to hide it. It's a smaller item and could easily be overlooked. We need to find that item. Please pray I'll find it before Christmas Eve.

I do too, Sue. It was the first thing Nick put on his list and wasn't cheap. We couldn't go out and buy another one if we don't find it. :(

Morning all. [IMG] It's raining here to beat the band! It's supposed to turn over to snow (2-4" by in the morning) sometime tonight.

Sue, sorry to hear about your car. I'll be praying, and for everyone else who had a bad day yesterday, that today will be better. We found out last night that the appraiser had been out to the house day before yesterday, got lost, finally got there, and only partially did the appraisal. She was supposed to go back out yesterday to finish. She's had it for three weeks, so the finance company called her boss and wailed on her. They said that the finance company should have it back today...Lord willing. If it doesn't come back okay, we won't get the house, and we'll still have to move. The apt complex manager has already rented this apartment. So, it's down to the wire, folks. Don't know what God is trying to teach us here, but we're just trying to be patient and learn.

Today I need to be working on a manuscript, doing some editing and rewriting. I may be on and off today several times. Hope you all have a good day!

    Tony
