LOL, Thankful. I don't know about making things a game, but I told all the kids and extra kids that if they were coming home with me they were going to pick up the house BEFORE they played! Since it rained yesterday and they couldn't play out, my house was kinda wrecked. It's still not clean clean, but at least I can walk through it now.

It won't be really clean until I get ahold of it and that's not happening today. I'm just waiting on the shade to be on the juniper bed before I go dig it all out and start replanting.

We had another good day at VBS as well. The boys were always into something! As bad as they were, they always had the answer to any question I asked. The poor girls were so overshadowed by the boys that they didn't even attempt to misbehave.

As far as the headaches go, with my son there is no mistaking when he has one. His whole demeanor changes, as well as his skin tone and the way his eyes look. The eye thing is hard to explain unless you see it.

If you find one, please let me know. Also look for a game that will make it fun for children to place their dirty clothes in the hamper instead of the floor...

We had a high of 85° today but only for a really short time and then it clouded up and the temps started dropping quickly. It's now 71° and thunder is cracking pretty loudly. Had to stop to close our windows and by time we got to the far bathroom, water was STANDING on the floor. It's dropped to 64 since I started this message.

Nick, Ty and I went up to the church and did some minor things. I swept and vac'd my big room and the rugs in there. I tried to figure out how I'd like the tables for VBS. One of our secretary's found some bright colored papers for my 'road signs' and another secretary knew which of our copiers could be used for colored paper since the main one used by all the teachers is broken. She did that for me. Bro. Charles had some tissue papers for me to make more flowers and Pastor Rick and his wife stopped to chat. The boys played on the playground, built with blocks, watched Veggie Tales and Pastor Rick took them into his office where he has a funny gum ball machine. He also has some collectible baseball items he likes to show the kids.

When I was growing up---they'd sell those baseball cards and stick gum at the local "Wag-a-Sak"----we'd buy the pack---open it---chunk the baseball card in File 13---chew the gum 'till it ran out of sugar and then chunk it, too!!

All of those cards Blackbird threw away----he figures he'd be worth millions of $$$$$$$$$$'s----if only if---if only if---if only if

Why, oh why, oh why, oh why didn't Blackbird listen to his daddy more??????? "Son! You're gonna want to keep those cards!!!"

    But noooooooooooooooooo!!

When I think of the G.I. Joe's my boys threw out, original toys.... Oh well. It's just stuff! I hear the IRS is watching eBay now. Going after all those who make big bucks.

What a lovely evening it is now. The sun came back out and it's mid 60°'s. I can go back to bed tomorrow until about 8:00. [IMG] I have just Ty and the 18 month old church baby with C.P. He can't crawl yet and naps a LOT. I'll have him from 9 until Mom and family get tired of Six Flags. These afternoon storms may bring them home sooner than expected!

NCIS is all I can think of on t.v. tonight. I like that tho. [IMG] Yawn....

Well all the best laid plans of mice and men.... Between phone calls from church friends and extra ironing, I've not gotten to watch any t.v. nor visit with hubby. He's now listening to music through headphones and Nick is folding his clothes. I've got one item left to iron and then can relax for the night.

Bad, bad, blackbird. First for growing up, but that's another topic. Second for throwing out all those priceless baseball cards. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? Everybody knows baseball cards were made to be hooked to the forks on your bike with clothes pins. Jam the card into the spokes and voila; instant noise!

My big brother found part of a Cal Ripkin, Jr rookie card in his stuff. I think I used the other half to wedge the tape in my 8-track.

Just popping in to say good night. I've been inside in the A/C all day except for about two hours. It is going to be in the 90s all week, so I probably won't be going out much.

Poor Brent. Thunderstorms are forecast for every day this week in Iowa, where he's at camp.

    Pleasant dreams all!

    Morning all:

Early start as usual for us here....Vivian left for work this morning to somewhat dense fog...it is nearly 70 degrees here, and muggy. They say it's going to rain this afternoon and be in the 90's again. So, I guess this will be another day where I will be outside for only a small portion of time trying to tie up the tomato plants to stakes. I might try to weed some of the garden, also. I know I have to try and find some thing in the garage for Viv. I've also got to make a trek in to Bell Buckle for the mail.

We had some strange noises around here last night. I'm going to ask if any of the neighbors heard them also.

Sue, don't worry about the weather in IOWA! I'm sure Brent will still have a great time at camp. I know one year we had rain every day except for the last afternoon. But, the Lord really kept all our minds occupied and there was very little grumbling about having things to do or activities that were going on.

padre, blackbird, etc, I used to collect those cards. I wish my parents hadn't thrown them out when they moved to GA from Illinois. They also threw out many of my old hotwheels cars, GI Joe's, and collection of metal lunch boxes. I would have been set for life if they hadn't have thrown those things away...but, live, and learn!

    Ya'll have a great day!

    T

Morning Tony and all who rise later:

I know Brent will have fun, regardless of the weather, but I was hoping it would be nice so he could go swimming. There's really no place for him to swim here.

Another hot day with thunderstorms forecast today and the rest of the week. We didn't get them yesterday. We need the rain, but I could do without the storms...

    Cruising,

Good Morning, everyone. All is quiet here for about fives minutes. Ed and Sissy are on their way to Bible School. Opps, Ed is going to work. I'm staying home today with brother who is still asleep. No tv's are on, no stereo's, no musical instruments are playing. No phones ringing...AWWW the quiet.

Baby grandson will be here this evening just for a visit, not an overnighter.

I have accomplished the clothes in the hamper, but how do you keep them from putting wet towels in with dry clothes. I caution them over and over and sure enough, there is the wet towel in the basket. Do you think it is because the towel is damp? Maybe it is in the terminology, the towel isn't wet grandmother.

Poor Ed, he is used to an orderly house, a rested wife, and even a dog that greets him at the door...At least he got a full home cooked meal last night. I was determined to have a sit down dinner. Sissy really is a good cook. She helped a lot and Brother is earning money, so he clears the table and helps with the dishes.

    I had better get busy.

Thankful, we use our towels more than once so the boys hang theirs up on towel racks. At home, do the kids use them only once?

It's pretty quiet here so far. Brennan just went down for his nap. He's the baby from church who is 18 months but doesn't crawl yet. He's such a good baby. He eats so slowly. Ty is playing with some odd toys (mixed up box of things) on the floor and Nick's outside. We haven't even had the t.v. on today.

I'm going to study my VBS lessons tonight. Rachel and I are sharing the teaching, Cindi. Our 'Teaching Time' is from 9:30 to 10:00 with snacks in our room at 10:00 - 10:10.

Hope everyone has a great day! My friend, Jennie, and her two boys are coming over to visit. I'll be around later.

    hello all. [IMG]

here i am still typing [IMG] in lower case -- you wouldn't want all caps, would ya? -- trying to stay focused at work with the nagging ache in my left shoulder. the surgery was a success, but it's gonna be a long way back. i don't think i'll be clapping my hands overhead at vbs - 7/11-7/15 - after all.

beautiful sunny day here in hot philly. where did spring go?

It is 10:30 am and up to 50F!! We're havin' a heat wave, a tropical heat wave . .

Will reach 65-70 for highs for next 8 days, but down to 39-40 each night. We actually thought about turning on the furnace last night as it was 65 in the house.

Just put a blanket back on the bed and snuggled.

Yesterday I whined about a windy wedding on a stormy Tuesday afternoon.

When I arrived, the backyard had some ribbon, wedding veil stuff, etc, but the wind had ripped most up. A dozen chairs around a sliding glass door that went from the living room outside. All very elderly relatives gathered (you know the crowd; carry their own oxygen, etc). I fit right in with my cane!

A little break in the spitting rain, though still blustery. Bride asked me to stand in the door way facing out with the couple. Everyone outside could see. But the key that broke my heart was inside.

Her mother has MS and has taken a turn for the worse. Unable to move, down to 80#, they had carefully set up a hospital bed in the living room so that she, now unable to move even her head, would be able to witness and participate in the wedding of her only daughter.

So dad walked his daughter around the yard to me, then after giving her away, stood next to his wife's death bed. And he started to tear up.

When we got to the vows I said "We all speak so easily at 23 years old of 'richer/poorer, better/worse, sickness/health'. We envision the 'richer' and 'better' and 'health'. But true love that vowed those words 30 years ago when dad and mom married and is still standing by her side when it is NOT 'better' or 'health'."

Honestly, it was pretty hard to go on with tears run down every face that I could hardly see the words in my wedding manual.

We got the kids married, then each person went into the house (not much room with the bed added to the furniture) and congratulated mom and dad as much as they congratulated the bride and groom.

Humbling. I was whining about the bad weather and who would get married in a little house wedding and on such quick notice on a Tuesday.

    Now I know.

Dr. Bob, such a touching story.

Diane, we only use our towels once, but in the old house, I had an extra shower rod that the children could hang their towels on so I think I will try that again. If these children stay a few more weeks, I'm going to buy one of those laundry sorters to put in the laundry room for them to use.

Well, we off to the mall and then bake to bake a cake for company tonight.

    I'll stop in later.

Dr. Bob, you made me tear up with that.

Well we're over the hump with VBS. [IMG] I'm tired today cause the lady who is helping had to take herself and her little one to the doctor. Both seem to have a nice case of pinkeye. Eeeww! Hopefully both will get treated and be back tomorrow.

Tonight is our family walkthrough night, so we have to be back and the kids are going to practice for the VBS program on Sunday starting at 4, so we have another 3 hours to spend at the church tonight. I think we'll go ahead and eat at church so I won't have to cook tonight.

At least I have an excuse to not work on digging out that stupid juniper. I worked on it for a couple of hours yesterday pm and didn't even get a third of it dug out. What did get dug out got thrown on the garbage pile! I never want to see that stuff again. The whole patch can't be more than 5 ft by 7 ft, if it's even that big. It has been there so long that it has twisted and turned back on itself. Part of it has grown off the ground and there is a nice area where anything could be hiding, because it looks solid from the top. Thankfully, nothing smart would even come into the yard because Ava and Hammer(dogs) will chase anything that moves.

Thankful, Since they're clean when they dry off, if they'll hang them up to dry.... save you on laundry! We've always hung ours up and reused them for a couple of days but have our own towel racks. I think the shower rod is a great idea.

I know what you mean about 'rested wife' vs now. It's been really hard for me to adjust to caring for kids all day. Today I have just Ty and a church baby. He's been sleeping for a few hours now. I expect his mom around 4:00 unless it starts to rain. He's very easy to care for.

My friend came over with her boys and one of their friends. The boys played baseball out back while Jennie and I did some research on a print she'd found in her attic. Her mom is my co-teacher for VBS.
