Thankful

The news here said there were 22 deaths.

Thank the Lord that Donna is ok and we will pray for others.

Thanks, Sue, for checking for us.

You're welcome, Thankful.

Wow! I haven't watched the news since this morning. It said there was a trailer park where people were trapped under the rubble, but I sure didn't expect the death toll to rise that far.

I am heading for bed. Tomorrow is a school day and Brent and I are also going to start our Christmas baking.

Pleasant dreams all!

I have a praise! One of our youth who graduated from high school this year and surrender to preach last summer preached the sermon tonight at church. It was wonderful! He gave his sermon, quoted scripture and ended with the plan of salvation. He has been really listening to our pastor.

I believe he was Saved and Baptized about five years ago. When he went to Falls Creek Baptist Camp last summer, my husband had his name for special prayer. It was during this time that he really knew that the Lord wanted him to preach.

We have another youth in this same group that has answered the call to preach and he will give the sermon in a few weeks.

God is really working with our young people and our church.

My dog Muffin was smelling under the
dish washer. A mouse ran out from under
the dish washer, bumped into the dog
(spell that out: D-O-G, Muffin thinks
he is people
), and ran under the refrigerator.
Muffin smelled between the frig and
the dish washer as far as he could.
So i set a couple of mouse traps with cheese.
About 30 minutes later one mouse got trapped.
Muffin was so proud

Good morning all:

Sounds like Muffin is a good 'mouser'.

That's great about the young preachers! At our church, when a teen is called to preach, we have a 'preacher boys night' on a Sunday night every once in a while, they get to preach for 15 minutes each. It's really neat.

It is 41º this morning heading for a high of 65º with a possible thunderstorm tonight.

We are baking sugar cookies today and decorating them. I roll them out and cut them and Brent decorates them with colored sugar, etc. before they go into the oven.

Before all the grandkids moved out of state, I had an annual 'cookie-baking' day when all of the grandkids would come over and decorate cookies while their folks went Christmas shopping. Sadly, that tradition can be no longer.

HAGD!

Well, Sue, if you need some company to bake cookies I am sure we could recruit a car-full. You'll have to bake like all get out to keep up but we'll keep you company nonetheless.

Congratulations, Ed. Looks like the D-O-G has taught you how to be a good mouser. Well done. We had a cat that was afraid of mice. She'd play with them once they were in the trap and dead.

Thanks for your kind offer, Padre, but I think Brent and I can handle it. :D

We are getting ready to start school. Just wanted to let everyone know that I became concerned about Tony (AVL1984) as he hasn't visited the Coffee House in 5 days, so I called him.

He is getting ready for more tests and just hasn't had the energy to post.

Let's lift him up in prayer.

Thanks,

Praise the Lord! The transit strike is over!

I heard it on the radio as I was about to drive to the train station this morning, and made a quick change in destination to the El station lot (El = Elevated train, like NYC and Chicago). Not many folks had heard yet, so there was plenty of parking, and hardly anyone on the El train. I'd be willing to bet it won't be that way on the ride home!

All that remains is for the union members to ratify the contract. Haven't heard a prediction on that, though.

We had one of these strikes a long time ago that went for 40 days! Didn't want to be looking at that again. Praise God!

That's good news, Debby.

Glad you checked on Tony, Sue.
Sorry to hear that he is too weak to post.

Padre, Ed's dog (shhh) caught one mouse all by himself. He brought it to us. I thought at first he was playing with one of his toys.

Great news, Debby! PTL!

Thankful, I hope Muffin (the D O G) didn't put his 'prize' in your lap.

Brent and I baked Pumpkin Cookies this afternoon. We will be decorating and baking sugar cookies tomorrow. We didn't have time to do the sugar cookies today, but at least we got to bake something...

Wednesday, we won't be baking at all. We will be taking Shawna to Bloomington (40 miles away) for carpal tunnel surgery and we have to be there at 6:00 AM.

Her whole arm will be numb so I will have to put her leg on for her and drive her back as she will be too sedated to drive.

I expect that will take up most of the day. I will take Brent's school work with us and he can do it in the lounge at the hospital while we're waiting.

I will say good night now as I have an afghan to crochet.

Pleasant dreams all!

Good Morning, everyone!

Are we all sleeping in this morning?

No, probably just busy. It is a busy time of year, isn't it? And Friday is a holiday.

It is like a spring day here, windy and damp.

I think I will go to Michaels. They are having a huge sale and I need a few Christmas decorations for Church parties.

Take Care,

Betty

Good Morning Everyone!

I can't believe I'm the first one in this morning. I'll just put on a nice pot of coffee and snitch some of Sue's cookies.

I deserve them as I have already been to the grocery store this morning(another $100 for food, ) and in just a few minutes I have to go tackle cleaning the kids rooms. I warned 'em and they couldn't keep them clean, so now it's my turn! Hopefully I'll get their carpets cleaned as well as the junk off the floor. I've told them if they get messy again before Christmas, they'll be grounded for the holidays. Since I'm the kid house, they'll hate that.

Well my day is beginning, see ya'll later.

Actually, hate to bust your bubble, but Betty was first one in.

Yes, I did sleep in until 7 this morning. First time sleeping through the night in a long time. Must have reached second childhood.

I have plenty of plans for to-day, but I will prolly just stand about doing nothing, waiting for a change in the weather. We are getting rain every other day here. Hard to saw wood in the rain.

Cheers,

Jim

Good morning all:

I have been up since 5:00, but just now realized I hadn't stopped in here.

I already have 6 dozen cookies rolled, cut out, decorated, and ready to bake and about 12 more dozen to go.

Brent is on his last PACE for the day, so he will help when he's finished.

Jim: I had a good night's sleep too. It's amazing how refreshed one feels after not having slept well for a while!

LOL! No one had posted when I started mine! Then the phone rang before I could finish so it took me a minute. Betty snuck in ahead of me! That's okay, I still came away with a cookie.

Hey Sue, you wouldn't mind sharing your sugar cookie recipe would you? Precious loves sugar cookies but I haven't found one yet that I like. Son would also like another copy of your peanut butter ball recipie. I promise I printed it off a half dozen times but I can't find a single copy. Son thinks it's cool that he can make them by himself.

Hey Jim, you can saw logs even if you can't saw wood. Rainy days are made for sleeping! To bad we haven't had any here lately.

Good morning all...
Haven't checked in for a while...have been busy getting things ready for a yard/moving sale. Am going in with a few other friends from church. It will be all day Saturday.
Then when it's done I can think about cookies!!

Beautiful day here in Philly - the sun is shining, the leaves are falling, the buses are running - all's right with the world.

Unless you're a Terrell Owens fan, which I am not.

Looking forward to being my daughter's driver to a Christian School Teacher's convention in Lancaster starting tomorrow night. I get to go to the workshops too, but don't have to pay for her at all. Plan to eat well and relax, although I'll probably have to bring along the laptop for work, so I'll still be checking in here, I think.

Thankful

<img src=/BettyE.gif>
Mk, that happens to me all the time. One time I really got in trouble because the person ahead of me thought I was talking about them and I had not even read their post. But I talked my way out of that one, too.
laugh.gif

Jim I hope that means you are feeling better if you slept the night through.

Debbie, I had never heard of Terrell Owens until this morning.

Well, I have returned from my shopping trip. I walked so much that my legs hurt. Didn't buy much though. I did get a food carrier at Bed Bath and Beyond and a few art supplies, but no Christmas Decorations. I still thought they were too expensive even on sale. I'll go to the dollar tree or some dollar store and get what I need and it will be just as pretty.

I'm going to eat lunch and probably take a nap.

Pamela, a moving sale? Does that mean you are moving? That's a job. I don't plan to ever move again. Notice the "I don't plan".

Have a great trip, Debby.

Sue, the cookies are great! Did you miss about a dozen of them?

MK: I will put the sugar cookie recipe and the peanut butter ball recipe in the Holiday Recipe thread in the Open Women's Forum.

Is the peanut butter ball recipe he wants the one with chocolate, rice crispies and paraffin?

I have 14 dozen sugar cookies done and about 4 more dozen to go. That will be enough to do for one day...

Hmmm Thankful, I thought I had more cookies done than that!

Our mailman loves this time of year. I always leave him a couple of 'samples' of whatever we're baking that day, in a baggie, in the mailbox.
