COMMON GROUND COFFEE HOUSE #87

Good Morning everyone!

Debby, that's what Moms are for, don't you know. Potatos happen!

At my house it is usually lunches or eyeglasses that get forgotten.

T loves the sudoku puzzles! And yes I think part of it is the the programmer in him. I like them, but rarely have time to work one. I have an internet addiction, a reading addicition and a sewing addiction and so can't handle another. My kids already complain that I never pay them any attention!

Course if they would pick up after themselves and do their own cooking and laundry, I have time for all my addictions AND them!

Well one can hope, can't she!

Right now I'm sitting here being pretty lazy, but I must get up and quit drinking the coffee. Precious' fella is coming over to play video games this evening so I have some straightening to do. And I might just bake some cookies. I've been wanting some peanut butter ones.

Mmmmm, apple cake. This'll tide me over till I can bake those cookies.

Sue, praying for Bobby.

See ya'll later!

Thanks for the prayers, folks. Bobby spent the night here and is asleep in the recliner right now. He is taking Vicodin. The doctor didn't want him to be alone.

He hasn't lost his sense of humor though! He was laughing and telling me the funny looks he got, when he was in the ER waiting room, with his hand nailed to this big block of wood!

After surgery, they let him keep the nail and the block of wood. Wasn't that sweet?

Brent and I just got back from Aldi's and Wal-Mart. I now have all my 'fixins' for Thanksgiving and also all the ingredients I will need for all the Christmas baking I plan to have done (and in tins) by December 5th (we are having our family Christmas December 10th).

Back to school work and then lunch.

One thing about the old fashioned hammer, one only got sore thumbs when one missed the mark.

A short time ago, some bloke got some of those nails in his head. I think they were up through the roof of his mouth. To think, wife thought I should have one of those nailers!

When learning electricity, they always tell you to keep your left hand in your pocket. Maybe they should teach carpenters that as well.

Cheers,

Jim

Good afternoon. It is 81 degrees here and very windy. We are under wild fire alert...Dry and windy across the state. Some southern areas of the state may hit the 90's today.

Debby, Those thinking puzzles hurt my brain.

Take care,

Betty

Good morning all:

It is 53º this morning, heading for a high of 69º. We were all set to do away with the leaves today, but it is supposed to storm this afternoon and rain for the next 3/4 days...

Oh well, it will make good 'baking days'. And I am way behind schedule on my Christmas baking!

HAGD!

Good Morning, everyone!

Getting our yard ready for winter. It is 75 degrees here already. The leaves are just beautiful.

Well, we have rested enough. Back to work!

Have a great day.

Well, we got the leaves done (at least for now). I have been holding a leaf blower for 5 hours straight. I probably will not be able to get out of bed tomorrow if I feel like I do now!

Yes, Thankful. The leaves are beautiful, but I wish they'd stay on the trees!
laugh.gif

Dale has already taken four pick-up truck loads of leaves to the landfill and still isn't finished hauling!

I had the leaf blower, Brent had the rake, and Dale was raking them up and dumping them into the truck and making trips back and forth to the landfill.

Our trees are still loaded with leaves that are going to fall. Hopefully, it won't be so hard the next time OR take so long.

Ummm, I don't think I'm cooking tonight... :D

Thankful

Sue, our largest oak tree is one of those that keeps its leaves until spring when it gets new ones. That is the kind of tree to have.

But we get some leaves from our neighbor's trees.

I love trees, but when those leaves fall, it is a tough job to keep them out of the yard.

I suggested to Ed that we take a foliage drive. He thought the view from our back deck is so beautiful that there is no need to go anywhere. (I think he just wanted to stay home)

Leaves=fertilizer so I ain't raking or blowing them all the way to the front. I might eventually chop them up with the lawnmower, but that depends on me actually getting it to start again. The last few times I tried to crank it it wouldn't start. I think it has a wiring problem, cause the battery doesn't recharge either. I've been having to jump start it.

We've spent the day kind of quiet. Did karate with Precious. Made the Walmart run and bought Son and Precious a few new clothes. Took Bitsy to see "Dreamer". Now I have supper to fix, but I don't know what I'm hungry for. Sad to have a houseful of food and not know what to cook. Once I get it figured out I'm goig to do some sewing. Son might end up with spend the night company, so that'll keep the rest of the family busy playing video games. T and Precious team up against Son and his friend. Bitsy has the Dreamer computer game of her to play.

I like nice quiet days like today.

A mulching mower takes care of fallen leaves, and does the turf well. With 25 acres of woods in front, we would be handling leaves in perpetuity.

I suffered a minor stroke last night and collapsed at the cafe in next village. It gave everyone there a fright when I hit the floor. There was no damage, however, and I was out of hospital in just a few hours. Doctors said I was prolly doing too much on my feet. I took their advice and pretty much stayed off my feet to-day.

Typing is a bit troublesome to-night, but that is always a problem for me..I tried one of those dictation programs, but it wouldn't accept my accent.

Cheers, and take care. Keep looking up folks.

Jim

Jim, sorry to hear about your stroke. I pray that you are feeling better and will listen to the doctor and not over do.

One of those dictation programs wouldn't accept my Texas accent either. I had to train it and gave up. I really thought that it would be neat to talk to the computer and let it type for me, but I gave up on that idea. Maybe the new programs are better.

Do take care of yourself, my friend.

Sorry to hear about your fall, Jim, but very glad that you're going to be fine!

I don't have an accent...

We don't have a mulching mower. I wish we did. We have to get the leaves up this year though because we are having the yard aerated, lime put down, and grass seed sown.

The last leaf fall of the year will stay on the ground and around the plants for covering and fertilizer.

Hey, Gina! Actually, no it doesn't because it's THEM who have the accent. :D

Heading for bed folks. I'm growing more sore and stiff by the minute.

Pleasant dreams all!

Is Bobby related to Tim Taylor?
Remember the episode where he glued his head to a table?

Sorry, just couldn't resist . .

I don't think so, but I bet he pays more attention to what he's doing now!

Good morning all:

Well, we had a severe thunderstorm, with very high winds and a lot of rain, last night. I can't even tell we worked on the leaves all day yesterday!!! The whole yard is covered with them again!

I am sore and stiff, but not as bad as I thought I might be. PTL!

Have a blessed Lord's day everyone!

I just read that Kentucky and Indiana had severe tornadoes.

Anyone heard from Donna? Who else is in that area?

Oh, I heard about those this morning! I didn't realize that any of us were in those areas. They got hit very hard and will need our prayers.

Let me add to the list of aches and pains. I slept in to late this morning cause it was cloudy and dark and I couldn't see the clock and just assumed it was still early. So we get up to late to make preaching but if we hurried we'd still make SS. So while I was hurrying to get my hair dried, I moved the wrong way and pulled a muscle in my back, all the way from my shoulder blade to my waist. Now I'll be sore for two or three days. I've about decided I'm going to have to add a regular stretching regimin to every thing else I do every day. Just walking isn't keeping me fit enough(when I have time to walk).

It's been very hot today and stuffy. We were reduced to turning the air conditioning back on today. It appears we are about to have an Indian summer with temps back into the 80's. Hmmm, I don't think I'm complaining. :D

Everyone take care and get to feeling better!

Evening folks,

I just called Donna and talked to her for a few minutes. She is fine. The tornado hit about a three hour drive from them so they weren't affected at all.

There have been over 200 injuries from the tornado in Indiana and 4 deaths so far. I haven't heard much about Kentucky other than a lot of people are without power.

Have a good evening all!
