Gina, there is an apple pie and a pumpkin pie on the table.

After dinner, I made all three of us plates, for supper, and put them in the fridge so we don't have to drag all the bowls out again until lunch tomorrow.

I plopped in the recliner and started to crochet, hoping I would nod off. I did for about 10 minutes then the 'restless legs' kicked in. So much for a nap!

No nap here either, Sue. I've been at the sewing machine trying out some new embroidery designs I came across. One of Precious' friends is having her birthday this weekend, so I need to make another pillow.

I'm seriously considering another plate of food. The chicken and dressing is calling my name.

We ate dinner at 1:00 and we were too full to eat dessert until around 7:00 tonight!

We just finished watching "Finding Nemo" and are heading for bed.

    Pleasant dreams all!

It has truly been a wonderful day! We continue to thank and praise the Lord for our many blessings. We had a late breakfast, light lunch and then the "big" meal. Muffin even got to eat Turkey.

I am very frustrated because I can't get his pills down him. I have tried everything. So first thing tomorrow, I'm going to the vet to buy one of those pill "thingys" and I will probably choke him, but I need to get those pills down him. He pretends to swallow the pill and then he hides it is his fur and spits it out when I'm not looking.

Well, dinner dishes are all clean and I have cleaned the sun/art/play room. Granddaughter did a good job putting away the toys so it wasn't too bad.

We went for a short drive and there are still some beautiful fall colors.

We had a golden retriever. He refused to take a
heartworm pill. We eventually crushed it up in his food.

    Good morning all:

I have found that crushing pills and putting them in food is preferred over shoving them down a pet's throat. That's my opinion though, not sure which way my pets liked it. LOL

Dale is off work again today and I'm going to use his 'muscle' to get some things moved around.

The more I think about our large family Christmas on December 10th, the more I realize that it will be SRO if I have it here at the house.

I'm calling the Junior Women's Club this morning. They own an old Jewish Temple (no longer used for worship) and they rent it out, as well as hold their meetings there.

Our church rented it once for a Mother/Daughter banquet. It would be perfect for my 25 guests. The building has the long tables and chairs, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and plenty of room for the kids to run around.

I'm hoping I can rent it for two days. If so, I will put a Christmas tree up and do some decorating there.

    HAGD all!

Sue, that sounds like a great idea to rent a room for two days. Ed's family does this for their family reunions in the Summer.

Well, the taking of pills has become a great challenge.

We are having to change Muffin's food and he will not eat it if there is a hint of odor from the pills. We have tried to crush them. They are coated and difficult to crush. We have tried to dissolve them in water and spoon feed him. He has to take four pills a day for 10 days. I didn't want to jab them down his throat, but that seems to be the only way and then we have difficulty.

Oh dear, I found one on the floor. This dog is very stubborn. I just found one of the pills that he spit out. Here we go again.

The stones that he had are called Calcium Oxalate
Monohydrate. Apparently, these are the most difficult to treat and they can develop again. He will be on a special diet with no people food, etc. But the vet wants him to eat so I added a little gravy to his new food and he loved it.

Now that we know exactly what kind of stones, we know that we have to keep him on special food, and he will have to be checked monthly.

We just hope that we can keep this from happening again and he will be a happy healthy little dog.

We put up outdoor Christmas lights and I decided to low key the decorating in the house. What we put up we will have to take down. (That's some attitude, isn't it?) But we have a trip planned in January. We're using our tree for a party at church so I will decorate it after the party.

Have a great weekend everyone. I'll be busy trying to get Muffin to take his pills. Nursing is not one of my callings, but I will persist.

thankful,,we feed our dog's pills wrapped in a piece of cheese...the cheese covers the pill's smell, taste and is usually swallowed quickly by dogs....worth a go,

Oh, and remove the dog's false teeth. I know I have trouble swallowing a pill with my teeth in place.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Oh Jim [IMG]

Our Muffin has caught on to the cheese trick also, but I will try to fool him again. I finally got the last one down him placed inside a hot dog. I'm not sure that is good for him, but Vet said to give him nearly anything to get him to eat until he eats his new food.

Actually, he loves cheese and I have used cheese to get him to return to me quickly if I think he may be in danger. All I have to do is say cheese and he runs to me immediately.

    Thanks for the encouragement.

Well, on that note, I think I'll take my teeth out, swallow my pill (wrapped in a piece of cheese) and go to bed.  [IMG]

Good morning §ue, I hope you slept well.

Today, Brent and I will rake the leaves for the last time this year and Dale will be hooking up the outside Christmas lights and lawn decorations.

It is supposed to be 50F so it won't be too hot or too cold to work outside.

I have plenty of turkey left-overs so at least I won't have to cook!

I will be popping in and out today,

    Hi everyone!

I never rake leaves, but it would be most difficult under 8 inches of snow. I will be blowing snow again to-day, however.

    Cheers,

    Jim

[IMG] I was joking because of what Jim had said. I don't have any problem swallowing pills with my teeth in my mouth. [IMG]

Hi Matthew! [IMG] Grab a cup of coffee and a Christmas cookie!

Jim: We are raking leaves so we can set out the outside Christmas Nativity Scene. Otherwise, we would leave them for fertilizer.

All of the leaves are off of the trees. Unfortunately, the sweet gum balls are not. There are still about 1,000 on there. They fall off all winter making walking on the sidewalk hazardous.

Sue, if you could see our estate with 25 acres of hard woods in front, 3 acres behind and more off to the north, you would fully understand the "not raking" remark..it would be impossible. On the grass we mow,,about 3 acres, I use a mulching blade on garden tractor and even grass is chopped up..nothing to rake.

I really do remove my choppers to swallow pills! LOL. I do, however, have my own hair.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Oh. So the image of you shaking your tail in delight when you swallowed the food-covered pill was all off? :D

I'm feeling a bit woe-is-me at the moment. I want to take pain pills but have to drive later for a church thing so I won't, and on top of that I broke my toe, I'm quite sure. HEARD the crack when I dropped the step ladder on it, managed to suck in my breath and NOT scream profanities but it sure was tempting!

Figured I'll let it rest while I look up different ways of making scalloped potatos. I said yesterday that I'd be at the church tonight and bring them, am learning quickly that I should always preface such statements with "barring any unfortunate incidences or unexpected problems". [IMG] I'll kindly leave off the "or if I change my mind and just don't want to!"
I want to make them with lots of garlic and with cheese.
I've always added pats of butter on top of the spuds, layer of flour and seasoning, layer by layer to fill it up and then pour milk over it, but I'm thinking I'll try melting the butter with the salt and pepper and garlic and milk, thickening it with flour, then pour it throughout the dish. Maybe fill it 1/4 of the way with potatos, pour on some of the mix, and keep going like that.
But then how would I get the cheese in evenly? I guess I could add it on each 1/4 layer.

They sounded really good earlier. They still would, if someone else was making them! SEEEEEE????? WOE IS ME! [IMG] I had about a zillion people tell me when I was younger that they were going to pray I was rich when I grew up so that I could have the maid and chef I always said I wanted from the time I could talk...then again I also wanted to open an orphanage. I'm thinking that *technically* I still could do that, and then I'd have to hire someone to clean and cook or have them volunteer to do so, which means that *technically* I'd have a maid and chef.

It could still happen. [IMG] I just have to get married again first to that guy who had the same idea. Dunno what ever happened to him, he was SUPPOSED to show up when I was twenty, with the secret song that was going to let me know he was the one.

Ok, toe is calming down, back to the kitchen and dishes!

Gina, you always make us feel better when you post. [IMG]

Could it be that I am glad I didn't break my toe and promised to take food to church tonight? [IMG]

The time is flying by today. It is afternoon all ready. I slept in and then made breakfast.
Muffin likes his food if I put turkey gravy on it. ;) But I didn't fool him with the pill in the food. We had to struggle again with the plunger. Maybe he thinks this is a game that I like.

We are starting Christmas on Sunday and I searched through my loose leaf hymn book for thirty minutes for the proper music ( half the book is out of order) until I realized oh yes last year, I put the Christmas hymns in a separate notebook. At least I remembered. I have also been working on decorations for the Deacon, Deacon's Wives, and Church Widows Dinner planned for next Saturday. I am getting really excited about the dinner. It will be so beautiful and the food and company will be good too.

    The ballgame is on.

    Got to Go

    have a great day

    Betty
