Thanks Sue. I have read all that there is to read on the net, plus engaged professionals who tried everything. We used rabbit-cage wire to cover holes and vents, and the squirrels chew right through the siding in minutes. Given our country and wooded area, I fear the professionals are correct and the only solution is extermination. I am reluctant to do this, but how many thousands does one have to spend? I have even cut all the trees around the house and left a wide open space,,,they are clever as all get out. As I said earlier, when the chap hunnted squirrels for food, we had no squirrel problem. I can't find another hunter right now, but I am running an advert in the local paper.
Cheers, and thanks,
Jim
PS. I do spray flying insect insecticide on the holes they make through the drywall and this chases them out for a few days, but I still end up with insulation-free and hollow walls requiring the revoval of all the drywall and redoing them.
I am also thinking about installing heavy steel siding.
Cheers,
Jim
