My SIL is Catholic and she told me that she no longer has to give something up for Lent because she is over 59...
My dad used to give up watermelon (it wasn't in season). I used to take it more seriously, attending a Catholic school, and I gave up bubble gum one year because it really WAS a sacrifice.
Let me tell you, that was a real struggle for an 11-year-old! The day Lent ended I chewed so many pieces of Double Bubble that I got sick on it.
Shawna came over and helped Brent and I in the family room. We got the drapes pressed and rehung on new rods, the hardwood floor mopped and waxed, the area rug put on the clothesline and beaten, all the pictures and knick knacks wiped down, cobwebs off the ceiling, ceiling fan blades cleaned, the books straightened up, the VHS and DVD's organized, everything hooked back up.
Wow! No wonder I'm tired and I also cooked supper and did dishes...
Signing off for tonight and turning this place over to BH.
Pleasant dreams all!
