Good morning all,

We are in for another 'coolish' day with more rain and high winds. Looks like a good day to curl up with a warm comforter and a good book! (I wish.)

Brent is going to try and get the lawn mowed between showers. It's not raining right now, so I'd best get him up. Saturday is the only day he gets to sleep in, but he doesn't usually sleep this late unless he had a restless night.

Saturday is also the only day we all have breakfast together. Well, actually, we have brunch because Dale works from 5-10:00 a.m., so we eat when he gets home.

I usually have omelettes but today feels like a pancake day.

Mmmm, pancakes sound good! We had cold pizza left over from last night....

I've made good use of my extra three hours this morning. Kitchen is clean, laundry started, my room clean enough to vacuum and sew in (though I'll probably vaccuum after I sew so I don't have to do it twice), T and I are dressed and we're about ready to do the Saturday shopping, something that usually doesn't get done till the afternoon.

It's still cloudy and damp here, but it hasn't rained anymore. We're still waiting and watching.

I'd like to mow some grass myself today but what I want to mow is to high to mow wet. I might put a kid out to mow the front yard again. All this rain and cool weather and the front needs mowing too.

Saturdays are one of my favourite days of the week. I get to sleep a little later than usual but I get to have breakfast with my man

Then Alex and Josh head out for the farm, do their farmy things and I get to spend hours here at the farm house with Margaret and Michael. All our men come back for lunch, then again for tea meanwhile Margaret and I get to sit around and chat and cook and bake and stuff like that.

Today we've been compiling a list of baby names. We're just rewriting the girls list but we've narrowed it down to 27 boys names... so we're getting there. Slowly.

Evie, I love Scotland! We visited Edinburgh in 2004. I think it's the most beautiful city I've ever seen. What part of Scotland do you live in?

My hubby and I did yard work today. It looks nice--all neat and tidy. Then he took me out to eat.

I live just off the west coast, a little island which you have to get one of two ferries to get on or off of. It's a great little place. Kind of backward from what I'm used to, since I spent most of my life growing up in and around Glasgow.

But the views here are spectacular and it's actually pretty warm considering it's Scotland We have several palm trees growing on the farm land!

I didn't realise it was Mother's Day in the States. Happy Mother's Day to all you Mums... perhaps I should try convincing Hubby that we should celebrate Mother's Day twice a year...

I've got graduation pictures! Sue, I'm in some of them this time

Joe won an award for having the highest average in the math department (boy were we surprised!).

The beautiful young woman is Blythe, my almost DIL. The taller young man at the end is Joe's best friend Jason. The older lady is my mom. The middle aged couple, who never appear as a couple, are Ron and Bitsy.

Congratulations to Joe! I know you're proud of him. Eric just finished his first year of law school--he said it was the WORST year of his life.

Did you all have a good Mother's Day? We had a lovely day--beautiful weather, and a good time with our family. And both of my boys were home at the same time!

Evie, living on an island sounds wonderful. My people were from the Highlands several generations back. We hope to visit there next summer. It will be my parents 50th Anniversary, and we are taking them to England, Scotland and France. If it all works out.

Good Morning all:

Well, yesterday was a strange day indeed. Though it was Mothers Day, I didn't get my mother anything but an E-Card this year. Money was tight this year...so we all agreed NO CARDS BUT E-CARDS for each other unless we could afford it. I cooked some for Viv. I still consider her a mother because of the time spent raising foster children. When I called my mom yesterday she told me that only me and one sister had called. That was unusual. She was however, going to my brothers house for a get together for his wife's family...they invited Mom. It was almost like she was a spare person or something. Sort of hit me the wrong way for some reason. My brother spends a great deal of time with his in laws (wealthy), but not much with our mother. That bothers me, A LOT!!! But, I digress....Sorry...

Our class at the Methodist church last night was crazy! We got there 20 minutes early..the first ones there...Then the instructor showed up with his wife and child. Then two other couples. 30 minutes into the class we had to start over because four other couples were late. It wasn't a fun evening. He asked me if I thought Methodists were unorganized since he knew we were Baptists. I just said that it happens in all denominations and let it go at that. Still, the class was good, and we are picking up some very good tips. If ya'll ever get a chance to go to Dave Ramseys site:

It's going to be cooler here today, just like yesterday. We've got a 50 % chance of rain!

Oh, and speaking of grits...that's what we had for breakfast...cheese and butter grits with salt and pepper. EXCELLENT!

Good morning all,

I had a wonderful Mother's Day. My teeth were hurting so bad that I didn't leave the house, but I had phone calls from all four of my children, a dil, and three grandsons (two who had lived with me briefly) and Brent who is still here, wishing me a happy day.

It is a little warmer today, but still raining. I see no end to the rain on the weather channel through this next week-end. It has been declared that the drought is over...

Good Morning Everyone!

I had quite a nice Mother's Day myself, for once spent at home with my own children and not at decoration day down at the cemetary where T's people are buried. Whoever thought up the idea of having decoration day on other than Memorial Day had a bad idea! (No disrespect to those who have passed intended) This is one southern tradition that this yankee transplant can't get used to.

Today will be a usual busy day. Chris has a migraine, I have 10 million things to get done before our trip to Washington and Cassie's cruise, the grass needs mowed, the pool needs vaccuumed and the everyday stuff needs taken care off. I'll be running like usual!

LOL, this morning I drove the kids to school in less than atractive clothing (not quite pajamas, but almost). I wasn't expecting to get stopped by one of the school secretaries telling me that one of the teachers needed to talk to me!

Brandon's first year of seminary was not his best year. He didn't say the words that Eric said, but his demeaner changed. I could tell he wasn't enjoying it or life. Things did get better year two!

For 25 years I got see kids right out of high school and enter first year of university. Some buckle down and adjust, others find it hard not to have a teacher over them telling them what to do next. It is a tough adjustment.

If a professor has 100 to 400 students in a class, like many secular universities, the class becomes a lecture and seldom goes one-on-one.

I think high schools should started the adjustment kids will face around grades 11, 12 and 13.

Sue, do you have dental students clinics in your state? We have clinics here in Ontario where dental students do the work under supervision at a greatly reduced price and often free service and payment for materials only.

I am sure it is not a pleasant thing to suffer with teeth problems. I did it for years with my British teeth. My teeth were so bad they made me speak with an accent!

I'll post just so Jim won't have to quadruple post....

The day is moving on here. I've got to run to the coop and get supplies for the guinea pigs. Still haven't made it outside, but I have made it to the sewing machine and that means that the house is straightened as well. It needs vaccuuming but Chris can't take the noise so it'll just have to wait!

So far I have something to do outside the house everyday this week but today(going to the coop doesn't count) and one of the schools called today needing a sub. I'll be glad when school lets out and the kids all get well again!

Off to the coop!

No, Jim. We don't have dental student clinics, at least not in our town. We may have some in our state, but that could mean traveling for up to 4 hours, one way.

mk, I know how you feel about those "decoration days" down at the cemetary. We've got three small cemetaries around here where they do that, but, they all do it on the first Sunday in June. I've only seen one or two cemetaries in the North do it, and they were both in Indiana. Most of these cemetaries don't even look like anyone keeps them up until around the time for decoration.

It rained here for an hour or so. The power went out three different times, so I'm going to let Viv reset the clocks this time when she gets home.
