Newport News is not on the coast. It is almost 40 miles up the James River from Virginia Beach, which is on the coast.
The trip from Newport News to Roanoke up 64 would take you through Richmond and Charlottesville, up to Staunton, and then down to Roanoke. Roanoke is on the other side of the Blue Ridge, which would make it one of the larger cities in Western Virginia.

Richmond is in Central Virginia.

Not so with Southerners. Although Southerners knew slavery was not a desirable condition, they saw benefit to the Negro who was taken from wretched heathenism and brought into Christian civilization.
Quit standing behind your academic nonsense and get out of your ivory tower. Look at what Jesus preached. It was not an academic exercise but it reached the heart. Have you not read about why the Baptists split in the south. It was economics not theology. It was greed not about God. Why did Billy Graham denounce segregation during a time when other states have never known segregation?

It was because of folks like you who don’t have the guts to act like a man that such things exist.

1 Cor. 16:13, “Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.”

Quit hiding behind the cloak of the unrighteous past and get on with declaring the truth of God.

I lived in the south long enough to hear the blatant discrimination as late as 1996 in the church. As a pastor I had to deal with such nonsense as you write about. Nonbelievers know about what people in the church believe.

In 1995 not too far from you was a young man who was the youth pastor in an SBC church and led a black youth to Christ and invited him to church and the deacons refused to let the youth in the door. My friend resigned. THAT WAS IN 1995 in NC.

Let the past be the past and stand up for what is right today. Have you taken a stance from the pulpit in your church and declare such discrimination as wrong? Under the leadership of W.A. Criswell at FBC, Dallas in the early 1960's he had the guts to declare segregation as wrong. How about you?

Notice where the Better Business Bureau of Central Virginia is located.

The Central Virginia Food Bank is in Richmond.

Here is the Chamber of Commerce identifying Richmond in Central Virginia. [The picture of downtown Richmond is more or less in front of me as I type this (my view is skewed a little to the left.)]

Here is a map of Central Virginia.

Discarding the silly exchange with BIR the truth is well known by thinking people that most of the Universities and Liberal Arts Colleges are over run with the radical left. That screwball from Colorado is only the vocal tip of the iceberg.

Utter foolishness, OldRegular. Roanoke IS NOT in the middle of the state. Claiming this in perpetuity does not change that fact. On the other hand, Richmond IS in Central Virginia. That is a FACT regardless of whether or not you want to admit it. It's that simple - you can claim otherwise until the proverbial cows come home, but it's a FACT. Everyone in the Commonwealth and anyone from the Commonwealth knows that.

Silly indeed, as you specifically mentioned 11 of 12 AT South Carolina into this discussion about "communists leading our Universities." You did not speak in generalities, you specifically mentioned 11 of 12 AT South Carolina. Now since you did this, the least you could do is offer any examples where these folks could be considered to be "communists," or even the "radical left." If you are not suggesting that they are either of these, then it was wildly irresponsible of you to introduce them into the discussion.
Now you can avoid this, but once again, the fact of the matter is that you are the one who introduced them into this discussion. Much like that of your geographical challenges, you are in denial. You brought them up, now tell us why you specifically mentioned them. We don't need to hear your assessment of the guy in Colorado.

</font>[/QUOTE]Oops, there goes what was left of your credibility....

Amazing that you can just mention them in this thread as you are claiming to make a "point," yet offer nothing to substantiate the introduction of these people. That certainly speaks volumes........

You repeatedly reply, yet you offer nothing to elaborate on why you specifically mentioned those people AT South Carolina. Apparently, you see no problem with just inserting these people into a discussion about "communists leading our Universities." How is it that your conscience allows you to this without regard for the foolishness this demonstrates? Now you felt compelled to add some instant graemlins to the discussion. I guess we can add immaturity to the list.

So, let's recap: in the post where you attempted to make a "point," you introduced 11 individuals AT South Carolina into this discussion about "communists leading our Universities." You offered no insight as to why you did this, and have seemingly refused to do so (claiming it ain't proof [sic]). When I continued "taking you to task," you attempted to make this personal with your comments about Richmonders (unfortunately for you, it exposed a geographical challenge). Then, despite not lending any insight into why you wrote about the 11 AT South Carolina, you did write about Judge Roberts and Senator Biden. Now you offer this post that is reproduced at the top of this response.

So, as this discussion is about to draw to an end, I guess we will never know why you felt the need to tell us about these 11 people AT South Carolina in this discussion about "communists leading our Universities." Perhaps you will give us the proof for bringing them into the discussion. Perhaps you will offer evidence as to why they were brought to our attention in this discussion. After all, this IS a discussion about "communists leading our Universities."

To quote Army attorney Joseph Welch — "Have you no shame, sir?"
