Could Fallen Adam choose Life

They study it.

That is the way you understand Scripture but how many Baptists actually study the Bible. And by study I don't mean simply read but comparing Scripture with Scripture snd all in the context of the written revelation of the Grace of God. I expect most don't take the time to read the pap that is in the Sunday School Quarterly!

So then...why would they pay any attention to any confessions, creeds etc.? I would suggest that they are just casual (carnal) Christians "at best " and we may even go so far as to say, perhaps not even truly saved....if we dare. And then we have gone too far, not knowing for a fact who is & isn't in the Lambs Book of Life.

I would perfer to rely on Gods mercy & justice dear brother. But clearly my dear bretheren, its all there....written for you in your bibles. Pray before you begin your studys that the Holy Spirit enlightens you. The other stuff is just guideposts....valuable yes but it isn't the complete Word of God....the Bible is.

I found a good answer to your question on the Theology Forum. I had used the 1846 Baptist Confession in a post on the Christology thread. JamesL had posed the same question that you have. I trust that HankD and will not mind my using his response!

That's because many "essential" doctrine are only partially supported in multiple places in the scriptures. It requires the whole counsel of God to be brought together in a systematic method with each scripture shown in its context and harmonized with the others.

The scripture itself (IMO) approves of this methodology:

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

I don't mind.

Also creeds, confessions, covenants and the like save an awful lot of research time if one is looking for fellowship away from home , etc, especially now-a-days when one can look up a church on the web and see their confession of faith or whatever synopsis of belief they have and decide if you are like-minded.

True, but they should NOT be used to counter arguements, or to make points in doctrines/theologies unless the scriptures are used as the primary source first!

Yes, I suppose the scriptures should be presented even as a cut and paste job.

However if one were having a debate on the Hypostatic Union (for instance) there would be not a few cuts/pastes some of which going into minutiae concerning koine Greek and its grammar.

We don't include the raft of scripture supporting the Trinity every time we use the word "Trinity".

Also, we sometimes quote a Baptist distinctive here without quoting the scripture given for its support.

True, but main point is that when we need to "score points" the ONLY source text to use would be what God has already cited for us in His scriptures, as they are the ONLY infallible and revealed source text unto us...

THEN feel free to bring in Creeds/Confessions/other Theologians, but now before ...

The free choice which Adam and Eve had was between believe God or believe Satan. They had no knowledge of good and evil.

Who said it was a free choice which adam and eve had was between believe God or Believe Satan ? What scripture says that ?

Adam and Eve acted according to the Purpose of God, Eph 1:11

11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

"Could Fallen Adam choose Life"?

All the great minds :) that have posted on this thread and no mention of:

But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve in his craftiness, your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity and the purity that is toward Christ. 2 Cor 11:3

13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve;
14 and Adam was not beguiled, but the woman being beguiled hath fallen into transgression: 1 Tim 2

....no comment on these things?

They? Eve was tricked, deceived by the serpent. Adam was not deceived, he made a choice. He chose to die to be with Eve. He died to have his bride. Nice little type there of what the second Adam did to have His bride.

Nothing has changed, he is still up to no good.

Jesus revealed the devil's master plan in Matthew 13.

Sounds like you believe God is the author of sin!

I believe that is a stretch! Disobedience a type of Obedience?

Precisely that:

15 But not as the trespass, so also is the free gift. For if by the trespass of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God, and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound unto the many.
19 For as through the one man`s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one shall the many be made righteous. Ro 5
