God cannot and so will not do anything contrary to being God.. . . God, & can do ANYTHING.
Each is God, & can do ANYTHING.
That the Word, who is the Son of God is God the Uncaused Cause. That is why He is the Son of God. Is the reason He the Son is visiable on behalf of God as God, John 1:18, KJV, "No man hath seen God at any time; . . ." Genesis 12:7, "And the LORD appeared unto Abram, . . ." John 14:9, ". . . he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; . . ."What does John 1:3 say and actually mean?
He CAN, but He DOESN'T. No one can name something He CAN'T do, but we can all name things He DOESN'T or WON'T do.NO, for starters, God cannot lie!
No mention of the fact Jesus PRAYED. Again, the pray-ee is always superior to those who pray.Jesus' being "sent" by the Father has nothing to do with His being an inferior Person to the Father at any time. Jesus made it very clear throughout His Ministry on earth, that He came to do everything in harmony with God the Father, and that they worked together in everything, which is exactly what Jesus says in John 5:17, "But Jesus answered them, “My Father is working until now, and I am working.”. To which the Jews responded, "This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God." (verse 18). Jesus' Authority on earth, was the same as the Father's Authority. He never acted on His own, because He and the Father are always ONE! . Much of what Jesus said and did was for the benefit of those around Him, like we read in John 11, "And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.” (41-42). There is not Scriptual teaching, that just because Jesus or the Holy Spirit, Who are "sent", means that they are "inferior" to the Father, or the Father is "superior" to them.
God does not do anything contrary to being God. Titus 1:2.He CAN, but He DOESN'T.
Well, that's great. You've figured out the "could God make a rock so heavy that He can't pick it up" conundrum. Bart Ehrman should be impressed.Of course not. Each is God, & can do ANYTHING.
Can anyone name anything God CAN'T do? (Not "won't" do)Well, that's great. You've figured out the "could God make a rock so heavy that He can't pick it up" conundrum. Bart Ehrman should be impressed.
Right. That's why I said "won't" do. He CAN do anything, but there are things He WON'T do.God does not do anything contrary to being God. Titus 1:2.
I see. You're right if the exercise is can't and not won't. God could choose to wipe us out and start all over. Who would stop Him? Who would be around to remind Him he promised, among a bunch of things, not to?Can anyone name anything God CAN'T do? (Not "won't" do)
No mention of the fact Jesus PRAYED. Again, the pray-ee is always superior to those who pray.
Think each One did their specific role in the plan of salvation! No, but the question is “could they”?
Could one (either) of the other persons within the Godhead assumed the role taken by the Eternal Son?
The question seems to be along the lines of creating a rock too big to lift.
God will only act according to His will.
peace to you
all 3 are equally God!no, this would mean the the Father is the prominent Person in the Godhead, which is impossible!
Jesus was in that servant position while here on earth, and had accepted limitations, so not true now!Jesus said, "My Father is greater than I."
How can God be inferior to God?do you believe that Jesus Christ as the eternal Yahweh, is "inferior" to the Father?
That would make Jesus to have a split personality!Van, I say this again, your Christology is way off what the Bible actually says
Nope, One as in both equally Yahweh! He meant "one in thoughts & purpose".
Jesus claiming to be One had the Jews trying to kill Him off, as they knew that was claiming to be God Himself!Look at verses 28 and 29 and you will see that the "unity" Jesus is speaking about is in power security and the source of all life. Which is only possible for someone Who is co-equal with the Father
Is Jesus fully God?But His Father sent Him; He said He came to do HIS FATHER'S will. As the time drew near for His "passion, He prayed that His Father's will be done, not His own. And, of course, he prayed many times before that. The one being prayed to is always greater than he/she who prays.
