The parallel further breaks down when we see a man trying to provide for his family instead of a man choosing on his own to give away food he had no right to give away.

And this again is perhaps the exact line of thinking the 73 year old was trying to avoid. He just wanted to help someone and everybody else sarts turning it into a liability issue.

Sadly churches now give that same excuse a lot when it comes to why they can't help.

Having already been warned several times, this wasn't something he was trying to avoid; it was something he was blatantly ignoring.

Something else: although someone made the comment that anyone claiming to get sick from a muffin was remote and nearly impossible, let's consider: Why do they have such policies? Because it's happened at least once to some business somewhere. When most of us were kids, would we have ever considered it possible that someone would sue McDonald's because they spilled their coffee in their lap--much less won the case?

This is addressed to Sapper: Agree, with exceptions. I have difficulty with the word: never.

If the wife is delivering a baby on the way to the hospital, I will probably break several traffic laws in an attempt to get to the hospital. Bad for good.

In a war zone, a frightened woman shows up at my op in the middle of the night-- what do I do? She looks pregnant. Maybe it is a satchel charge around the waist. Maybe pregnant and a satchel charge. Platoon leader not available. Now what? Depends on the situation, right. This was a real world scenario in Southeast Asia. We are required by oath and regulation to obey only lawful orders. Some written and some verbal orders are unlawful. Lt. Calley found this out--the hard way. Good luck sorting the lawful from the unlawful in the wonderful world of satchel charges on civilians.

It is not legal to use appropriated funds for Christmas decorations, but we do.

Tough situation--blown way out of proportion.

I believe if folk would go back and review my posts they would see that my protest is the corporate policy. After reviewing CB's Facebook page I am not sure that the corporate policy has been reported accurately. One person said they worked at CB for a number of years posted that when a person showed up saying they were homeless or broke they were always given a bowl of pinto beans and cornbread. That is a policy I would applaud.

Perhaps it was a store manager who made the decision, not the corporation. So far I have not found a definitive statement on this. If it is not a corporate policy it might well be that manager is in trouble for bringing so much negative publicity to the corporation. I would like to know for sure.
