WHOA!!!!

What say you now, CT????:smilewinkgrin::BangHead::tonofbricks:

I would say we will never know for sure. There is no law saying we must be told and governmental silence is legal under the Patriot Act. The government is under no obligation to tell us anything in this area under the law.

So even though the author of the article says that the Patriot Act and the Homeland Security Act had nothing to do with the abuse of prosecution in the case...

You are going to stick to your undocumented and unsubstantiated claim?

You are a stubborn old curmudgeon aren't you. :tongue3:

Here is a prime example of the blind hatred of Bush. The claims of CTB have been completely debunked and he has been shown to have spoken with no evidence. This is what is known as a false witness.

From the email:

The Bush administration had been in office for 6-7 years when we first began investigating these two cases, but they are very much like scores of similar cases that were prosecuted by prior administrations and that are being prosecuted by the current one.

Matters relating to orchids are probably traced to the CITES treaty. There are a lot of federal laws regarding this. It sounds like a good thing but often fails to provide any actual controls while creating a lot of paper work. I ran across this while researching american ginseng. As I recall, you can collect and sell all you want so long as the paper work gets filled out!

"CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) is an international agreement between governments. Its aim is to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival.......

"CITES was drafted as a result of a resolution adopted in 1963 at a meeting of members of IUCN (The World Conservation Union). The text of the Convention was finally agreed at a meeting of representatives of 80 countries in Washington DC., United States of America, on 3 March 1973, and on 1 July 1975 CITES entered in force." ......

Well, this is all I need to legitimately ignore any of your opinions (er-r-r fantasies) on anything pertaining to the ("0"), as it's obvious that facts have no place in his (are you offended that I didn't use a capital "H" for His?) defense.

Had you so much as acknowledged that:
"I didn't know that", or
"This puts a new light on this topic", or even
"Well, I gotta check this out further",
I would have considered you somewhat intellectually & ethically honest!

Unfortunately this has been your tactic in the past, but never so embolden as this particular episode.

Calls ALL your postings into question now; but I'm sure that doesn't bother you! Pity!!

Iwill be speaking with the author of the op by phone more this week to get more clarity on sources and the genesis of the underlying laws that allow these situations. I will post more when I do.

Wow... 1963... was that when Obama was still in Kenya or the other Muslim nation?...

1963 President Kennedy/Johnson (Obama turned 2 years old)
1973 President Nixon
1975 President Ford

Perhaps both parties were in on this one.

This is pretty dishonest. You have been confronted on this before. The zero not only didn't end the Patriot Act, or rendition, he actually expanded certain aspects of it. I have given you the information already.

It is correct that Obama has done nothing to negate the Patriot Act, and I don't think he would if he could. But, this doesn't change that it was passed under Bush's term.

Were Bush and the Patriot Act also responsible for Ruby Ridge and Waco? I don't believe Bush was in office at that time. In fact I don't think most people had even heard of him back then.

Congress can change any law at any time that they choose by simply writing another law.

So there is no "if he could" to it.

Every person in Congress will not do everything Obama says simply because they are democrats.

So you believe that the Democrats in Congress are in favor of the Patriot Act and the Homeland Security Act?

All Obama needs to do is to ask a couple of members of Congress to write a new bill. Enough other Democrats would back it to get it passed with no problem.

Obama is the head of the Democrat party is he not?

I don't have a clue what the democrats in Congress think. I have stopped following politics as closely as before, it's too depressing.

Like I said earlier, I don't think Obama is in favor of stopping the Patriot Act anyway.
