Demonic physical manifestations

I'm curious of the thoughts of those here as to what scope a believer can interact, if you will, with demons. I am aware we can never be possessed.

Since I don't believe in "ghosts" as portrayed on these ghost hunter shows, but do believe any such sighting to be demonic in nature, there have been a handful of events I have witnessed in our home since buying it.

The first was the night we moved in. I was woken by what sounded like children laughing above us in the attic. I laid there with my eyes open trying to hear it again. I wasn't going to wake my wife...but after a few minutes she asked me if I heard children laughing. It was the middle if the night, and no children lived by us.

The most recent happened Saturday night. My wife and kids were sleepiing when I took our baby up to her crib. I kept the lights off in the room, placed her in, rocked her a little when a shadow moved across the wall as if someone walked past the door (there was a light on outside the room). I thought nothing of it as I was under the impression my wife or other kids walked by to go to the bathroom. When I didn't hear anyone in the bathroom I checked and both kids were still in bed sound asleep and my wife was still sleeping on the couch. Concerned, I checked out the rest of the house just in case an intruder was inside. When I didn't find anyone I tried to recreate the shadow movement by walking back and forth in front of the door. I successfully recreated the same shadow on the crib and wall.

I have no idea what / who could have caused it, sparking my question about what level of influence to demonic forces are we subjected to along with the what and why questions. Why would God allow it and for what purpose? What purpose would a demon have in a believers home? Kind of confused about this whole thing.

I went through very similar incidents when I was a teen. We moved. I have not given it much thought since. But at this point I would stay in the word and prayer until a resolution is found.

...and here's what I do when ever I happen to see dark masses/shadows moving around the house. I take the authority Jesus gave me, and us, over semons, and cast them out. Simply speak to what you hear, and tell them, "You are not wanted here, and in Jesus name, you are to leave!"

If this doesn't work, I'd consider moving, as the mandym did. However, you should know, that the events my wife and I have prayed against and cast out, do leave. In 19 years, we've only had four or five such things, and the time between these events have been long periods.

These ghost hunmters are dealing with demonic presents, and I feel quite bad for them, as they are searching for an answer to what lays beyond, and the demons they encounter are doing quite a number on them. They are also leaving themselves open for possession, as they do not seem to be believers (evidenced in their search for what lays beyond). If they were believers, they have no need to be searching any further than what the Word says.

By searching for answers, they are allowing demons to enter their lives. Possessed, I don't know, but, attached to their lives none the less.

I pray you and your wife find results through taking the name of Jesus and the authority He gave us.

Matthew 10:8, Mark 3:14-16, 16:15-17 - Of course, there are those in the body who believe the ability to tell demons to leave was a gift for the 12. I don't agree. I believe He gave them the authority and let them live out an example we are to follow, like so many others teachings in the NT.

There are truths & errors on the ghost hunter shows. I have done my research and have checked out some of the "haunted hotels" and not everything is made up or faked. It sounds like you are in haunted house and if I were you I'd move out ASAP. Its better to file for bankruptcy and be in debt than it is to stay in such a house.

I can recommend two most excellent books on the subject by Erwin Lutzer

The Serpent of Paradise- Lutzer tells many stories of ppl whom have come to him for counseling whom have had ghost/demon encounters.

One Minute After you Die- Dr. Lutzer talks about demons and ghosts in this book. He says that the demons do not leave places where the person they possessed was killed. The demons cannot kill, but perhaps some children were murdered in this house some years back, and the demons have not left that house.

He needs to move out of that house ASAP. If it damaged your credit then so be it. Its better to have damaged credit than it is to be messing with the demons. Get out ASAP. Call the job and tell them an emergency came up and you cannot work and then move out. Get a hotel temporarily or something.

There are sounds of footsteps in the attic in the middle of the night, and when I pull down the stairs and go up there, nothing. This has happened several times.

Obviously none of this is dead human souls roaming the earth. I agree with WebDog that this is some kind of nonsense of evil beings. One thing I do not agree with from another poster is moving out of the house. Why should I move out of my house, the demon can move. The Holy Spirit in us gives all the weapons we need to deal with the situation.

The TV shows such as Ghost Hunter, really do not know what to make of it. The voices seem real, but if they are, they are demonic. Have you ever noticed on all these shows, they always have to turn out the lights? Why do lights have to be turned out to hunt for ghosts?

Another good book that I could recommend for the situation is the Bible.

I am not so sure that the individuals doing the show are lost because they do the show, as no doubt, they are probably doing it to earn a living and not for the primary purpose of seeking the great wild blue beyond. I am very leary of judging anyone's salvation, especially someone I have never seen how they live over time in person. If I was looking for a sign that Ghost Hunters were not saved, I believe I would base it more on the number of times their words are bleeped out, not the fact they hunt ghosts.

I do agree, depending on the real proportion in the shows of fake and real, that these people, assuming they are lost, are setting themselves up for possession or something else not very pleasant.

Since ghosts are not real, they are hurting no one but themselves.

Perform an exorcism of the house. I'm serious.

Me and my family moved into this house last May. We were here about 3 weeks, and I was laying on the couch downstairs watching TV. I heard a noise and turned to my left and there was a woman standing there in my living room. She was not transparent, she was solid. She looked to be in her 40's with short dark hair, a blue pullover sweater and jeans. She looked at me and turned, and walked into the kitchen.

My wife was upstairs on her computer so I figured someone must have came to see her through the back door. I went into the kitchen, and the woman wasn't there. I went upstairs and asked my wife who that was and where did she go, and my wife said there was noone here.

So, I am thinking my imagination is running wild. I went back downstairs, and there she was again, standing in my kitchen. She looked at me, and then walked to the basement door, and disappeared without opening it.

A few days later I was standing at the kitchen counter beside the refrigerator cutting up vegetables, when the freezer door slung violently open all the way and struck me in the back. I checked to see what could have caused it, but the seal was fine. After i went back to cutting, it happened again, this time harder. And then it happened once more. three times within 3 minutes that door swung open and hit me hard. It never swung open on its own before, and has never done it since.

Our living room is an add-on and has no second story over it, just a low pitched roof. I would sit there at night and hear hard footsteps go back and forth across my roof. When they would reach the end of the roof, you could hear the grit of the shingles grind as they turned to go back. My wife did not believe any of this until one night she was sitting there with me and heard it herself. I grabbed a flashlight and went outside. The footsteps stopped as soon as I opened the door.

Then, in the kitchen, in the same area where i saw the lady, and where the freezer door hit me, I was cleaning up after dinner. I was on the opposite side of our snack bar and was looking for my dishtowel. i said out loud to myself, "Where is that dad-gummed dishtowel?". As soon as I said it, the dishtowel flew up into the air of of the opposite counter, and flew about 8 feet to land at my feet. I was terrified.

Then, i had the big one. My wife works nights, and her vehicle was in the shop, so i took her to work in mine. When I got home my 6 year old crawled into bed with me and went right to sleep. A few minutes later, there was a huge crash downstairs that woke my son up and startled me. I told him to stay put, I got my gun and started downstairs. I got about half way down when something punched me hard in the chest. I am 6' 2" and 280 pounds but it knocked me on my back. I lost the gun from my right hand, and tried to get up but my left arm was up over my head, and it was pinned there. Something was holding me. It finally let me up. I went downstairs to investigate, and nothing was out of place. I still don't know what caused the loud crash.

I got a huge black bruise on the underside of my forearm. i couldn't see the underside until the next day when i pulled my teeshirt off in front of the mirror. In that bruise were four distinct finger markings. Even the lengths of the fingers were correct to each other. I have pictures, and will try to post them if i can figure out how.

Then, finally, last July, I was awakened by something rushing up on me. I opened my eyes and looked up without moving, and there was this big brown mass standing over me with white lines in it. It stood there for about a minute and then leaned over me. When it did I came unglued, I jumped to the other side of the bed, and by the time i could focus on it again, all I saw was the shadow of it leaving my room and heading down the hall.

A couple of days later, I noticed a statue on my computer desk that the previous owner had left. And the statue was the same color, and had the same lines as the mass that came to my bedroom. I asked the neighbors about the previous owner, and was told that they were Wiccans, and had had séances and such in the house. I gathered up the statue, the candles, and everything else that they had left here and took them across town to the Walmart dumpster. My pastor came over and we prayed all over the house for God to be the only presence here.

And guess what? Nothing has happened since last July. We feel very peaceful and comfortable here now.

I knew that the Bible spoke of these things but i never really believed that I would ever see it, but I did. And as others have said, it was demonic, not human spirits.

I believe that the angels protect us from the demons, but that if we or someone around us invite the demons in, then the angels let them pass.

Webby, whatever you have is there because someone invited them, they don't just show up on their own. But God can drive them out and your home can be peaceful, so don't give up.

Over the years as an adult I have heard things go bump in the night and can honestly say that I've basically ignored them. We have always either had a dog or a cat in the home and I have always checked on them for any reaction(s) on their part due to something odd happening.

I remember back to my youth wherein I experienced six months of a very disturbing turn of events that happen every night and it did drive my parents nuts. Eventually, it stopped.

Satan is powerful but Jesus is more so. Stand your ground until the Lord moves you! As a believer you will prevail.

No question about it, the word of God is the sword of the spirit (Eph 6:17). However with these demons there may be no guarantee that they will move out. What if they do not move out? In a book that I read the author tells of a story of a woman whom got demon possessed. The pastor and others tried to rebuke him bt he refused to leave. They then reasoned with the woman and had success. In this case the devil was not at the church, but only went there due to the woman. In WebDogs case the house is haunted.

Dr. Lutzer in one of his books says that the demons stay put when someone they possessed dies. It is possible that some were murdered in that house.

Would say that you have the authority granted you by a relationship with jesus to have prayers made over your home, asking the father to release/cleanse all activity from the home, in the name of jesus!

As per the bible, NOT hollywood/books/tv shows, the demons are indeed subject to his name!

Thanks everyone. I'm glad to know I'm not crazy (at least in this arena ) In 10 years there were only a handful of things that happened, nothing violent. The previous owners built the home, so nobody died in the house.

I did pray out loud and told whatever presence it was my home and given to me by my Savior so they have no business being there and to get out. I also reminded them that He who resides in me is greater than anything in the home and they needed to leave.

We'll see what happens from here on out...

Web, in addition to praying, I'd make sure there was nothing in your home or life that might invite such activity. Not everyone might agree with me, but I believe we can open doors unknowingly by having certain movies, music, games, etc. in our homes. There are many video games and movies out that have all kinds of witchcraft in them. Porn is another avenue the devil can use. When I was a kid, we had a demonic event in a certain room of our home. Later we found out the previous owner had been addicted to porn and the porn channel worked on our tv there, even though we did not even subscribe to cable! After that event happened, we found out a family member had secretly found the porn site and had been watching it in that room.

I would be interested in your opinion about this, but why do you think a demon or whatever is causing it, would take the time and effort to make footprint sounds in the attic at random periods of time? There are two Christians living in this house (our kids are grown with their own families). You would think a demon, whose purpose it is to keep people from salvation, would find something else to do like haunt the White House. Another thing I have noticed on some of the occasions, is that I will wake up before the foot prints start by the parakeets flying around the cage wildly in the middle of the night. We have a large cage with eight birds. Shortly after that, the noise from the attic will start.

I would think that demons would put even more effort into trying to make Christians believe in ghosts so that they can get them sidetracked and distracted from the truth of the scriptures.

And sadly, i believe this happens alot.
