Uhhh, my neighbor has a demon. A V-6, I believe. Does that count?
Seriously, I'm always wary of automatically attributing any uncomfortable feelings with "the presence of demons". In doing so, we may be attributing evil to something that is not. One of our basic intuitive abilities is to sense danger. Typically, humans don't tune in to this, since our modern way of living does not rely heavily on this. But we all have this. It's quite possible this is what you're referring to, and you may be confusing the two. This ability is normal, and has nothing to do with the presence of satan or demons.
As a Christian, you should know that you, being filled with the Holy Spirit, are immune from the effects of demons upon your person. Satan typically doesn't operate by sending demons, but rather making that which is sinful appear wholesome to the undiscerning eye.
If you truly feel you're sensing demons, I would seek the counsel of a pastor, and also seek the counsel of a certified therapist who's a Christian counsellor to make sure you're not experiencing a body imbalance (which again, is normal and treatable).

actually, I am being serious. Maybe I worded it wrong. I am NOT crazy. I guess what I feel when I say I sense Demons is an overwelming fear. I am scared when I feel it. It feels like something isn't right. I feel like some thing is there watching me. maybe it is the holy spirit protecting me, I don't know. I just had a baby 3 months ago, so maybe its just me being over protective, but I have felt this way before when baby wasn't around. I guess I just want to know if any of you felt this way before (kinda like your home is in danger) and what you did about it. sorry if it came across the wrong way the first time.
MLG, no one is saying you're crazy. Assuming you might be experiencing a body imbalance, you need to know that this is NORMAL, and doesn't mean you're crazy. There's no shame in exploring that avenue. That's why I suggested you seek the counsel of a pastor, and also seek the counsel of a certified therapist who's a Christian counsellor.

You may or may not be aware that the post partum period for a mother is a most difficult one, because your body is being literally flooded with new chemicals and hormones. This "retooling", so to speak, of the mother's body often leaves the new mother in a state of hypersensitivity to certain environmental stimuli, as well as a heightened state of instinctual protectiveness over the new baby. Again, this is normal.

Johnv is right mlg. We have a thread on the women's forum about worrying about our kids so much. It's just a mom thing! Do talk with your pastor tho. He should be able to help you understand where you stand.
I'm going through menopause and 2-3 days each month worry about silly things. It's not something I can control but just have to 'wait it out' and reason with myself. Hormones can really make us feel strange!

Mlg--perhaps you may be going through what I call "Young Mother's Snydrome"---its naturally the way that God created parents to protect newborns---especially Mom!
We went through a phase in our young parenting age---where our kids were then "Newborns"---and we were afraid of everything---then my wife would take the newborns to the doctor over the most "minute" thing---I believe its a natural thing when the kids are newborns--God's way of us protecting them when they can't protect themselves---Example: when the babies are toddling and they fall and start cryin' or somethin' and they cry and cry---we panic---"Wonder if anything is broke! Do I need to have it x-rayed??"
Later when the 10 year old boy "wipes out" on his bike and tumbles to the asphalt---we say, "Get up dude and keep going! Take it like a man!" and we're praying under our breaths, "Dear Lord, where will I get the money for the x-ray???!!"
I believe Sister Diane is right, though--its a mom thing---although daddy wonders himself, too!
Not a demon---just a parent that demands a lot of your mind---and your mind racin' to keep up with the demands of the baby!

PS--I believe what will also help you out a whole lot is this: Let Dad take the baby---show dad how to change the diaper, feed the baby, play with the baby--etc. while you relax---he can take a TREMENDOUS load off of you--if you are willing to let him and if he is willing to do it--he'd do it if he knew how much it would help ease your mind---tell him I said so! Tell him that I never had so much fun helping to raise and care for my newborns---every minute of every day I'm involved somewhere, somehow.
Next time your baby gets sick or needs to go just for a check up or something---get your husband to take a day off of work and let HIM take the baby to the Pediatrician--let him talk to the doctor---let him go to the pharmacy and pick the medicine up---that's what daddys are for---daddys are there to carry the load---emotionally as well as physcially----lots and lots of daddys fail when they don't have to fail!!

It's very interesting to note that those who have a real experience with the spiritual realm are labeled as "pulling our collective legs", hormonal imbalance", "body imbalance", or "new mother syndrome".
Perhaps ignorance breeds wrong diagnoses. Jesus often encountered the demonic. With one Word it was gone - that God would only give us that kind of faith. However, Jesus did say that when the house was swept clean of the strongman [demons] and it was all nice and clean, the evil returned 7 times worse. In essence saying that for one to remain free of demonic activity His Word needed to take root and be given room to grow to keep that kind of activity at bay.
In other words, if your intent is not to pray with and for someone who is suffering from demonic activity, and waiting on God to show how He chooses for the way of healing, then it might be best to leave the subject alone. This is Eph 6 territory for those who take the Word seriously. The battle is won by prayer, love, patience, perserverance, faith, and Word of God as His Spirit wills.
PS: Christians are NOT immune from demonic activity. It is an on-going battle that one enters into when one becomes a believer. satan particularly uses the demonic against believers to pull them down, steal the Word, to lie, and to destroy [John 10:10]. In Jesus is abundant life by the cleansing of Word, the renewing of the mind, and the tranformtion of soul, heart, and mind, and putting on His armour to stand against and resist the devil and his minions. It is not a easy race/battle. Casting off hindrances never ends. His work is completed only when this life is over.

I must say that I agree. At one time at junior church camp three of us older kids (college age) who were helping out at the camp were sitting up in a car discussing things, including demons. Immediately there was a presence in the car with us that was SOOOOO evil that it was a feeling I have NEVER had since. There was a spiritual presence there of something that was obviously a demon. This was NOT an imagination because all three of us felt it instantly when it appeared. One member said, "I think we need to pray"! I said, "Good idea" So, we each prayed and as quick as it came, the most peaceful feeling of the Holy Spirit calmed us down. The evil feeling was real, it was not induced by chemical imbalances or otherwise.
Demons ARE active and at work in this world. Some people are more susceptable to others.
My suggestion is that we pray for our friend and that she pray and read her Bible every day. Search her heart and make certain that she has accepted Jesus as the Lord of her life--that is number one, then pray to God to build a hedge around her for protection.
If they still persist, then see a professional. I am not saying that this could NOT be a chemical imbalance or hormone related, that is possible, but it is also just as possible that she is correct. It is ridiculous to blame everything on an "illness". First, it was "drugs", "alcohol" and now it is "sexual molestation" that is blamed on a "sickness" so we do not have to take the responsibility for sinning. All sins are addictions, if you look at it in that manner, but that does not make it okay.
I don't think demons are so much attracked to things like Ouiji boards and Harry Potter books. Let's don't get un-biblical and superstitious here.
I am not saying that Christians who dabble in the occult are not going to be visited by demons, but just because there is a Harry Potter book in the house--- this is NOT going to attract a demon to that house, as much as the way the people in the house live. This would not be any different than my house attracting demons because I live on top of an old sacred Indian burial ground. If I start believing those things, I find myself dabbling in the occult.
What WILL attract demons? Christians who are or have the potential to be "on-fire" for the Lord. Demons are not stupid and they are not going to be attracted to a material item whether or not it has been used for the occult. They are servants of Satan and will do his bidding to keep Christians from doing the work of God and non-Christians from becoming Christians. Read what Paul says about what we wrestle against.
This is a serious matter, and those of you who want to joke about it should be very careful. Whether the lady has problems that are caused by a chemical imbalance OR a real influence of demons, IT IS NOT A LAUGHING MATTER!

H m m m . . . something tells me you are not familiar with the spiritual realm. Ghosts, unclean spirits, and evil are very real. Demons do gather around items that are occultish and satanic. Bruial grounds do manifest evil spirits and demons. Maybe some day you will have the opportunity to talk to someone who has been invoved in the occult, satanism, or wicca. They will likely convince you otherwise. I find that those who are ignorant of how demonic forces work are definitely at a disadvantage.
God had a reason for saying that we should not have occultish items in our homes - they are a snare. Just because you do not worship them, does not mean they cannot or will not influence you.
Deut 7:25 The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God.
26 Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.

Many unsaved people are exploring the occult realm, and God expects us to know the truth about it. Harry Potter books are bonafide training in actual black magic and sorcery, according to several John Hagee programs on the topic. I like Hagee and trust his analysis, plus my own biblical studies.
Missionaries will tell you plenty about occult objects attracting demons. Yes sir reee.

imho, a visit to a professional will not be helpful to mlg. Psychiatrists and psychologists do not recognize the spiritual realm, this includes Christian counselors who have been educated by the secular system, not in Biblcal application concerning the spiritual realm. The Holy Spirit is our discerner and the Word of God our teacher and trainer in a time when demonic influences are wrecking havoc on many individuals.
As I stated before, unless one has spent time with God to discern how best to be of help and encouragement, it would be unwise to offer advice that goes against His will.
John 16:13 But when that One comes, the Spirit of Truth, He will guide you into all Truth, for He will not speak from Himself, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will announce the coming things to you.
14 That One will glorify Me, for He will receive from Mine and will announce to you.

Oh contrare' MalkyEL. I do not think you read my post close enough nor do I feel that you are truly familiar with demonism and spiritualism.
This is a subject I have not only studied in depth, but have dabbled with in my "pre-Christian" days, not saying that I am proud at all of it, and preferring that some of the knowledge I gained that I could do without. It is VERY DANGEROUS.
I will say that you do have a "secular" view-point for how demons work and operate. This is because of all of the hype from the people who ARE in the occult and ARE being fooled by demonic spirits.
You see, demons WANT you to believe they are ghosts of dead people. They can do a very good job of this because they KNEW your ancestors very well and they can fool a non-believer into thinking they are hearing from the "other side". The information they deliver is REAL, in many cases. Information that only you and your passed grandmother (for instance) might know, plus a spirit who just happened to be hanging around during her life.
Demons also want people to think they haunt places and that places are haunted by the spirits of the dead or other-worldly beings or whatever that cultist is into. This is part of the "occult myth"--just like talking to dead people is part of the "occult myth"---perpetrated by REAL LIVE demons and evil spirits.
I NEVER said that demons and evil spirits were NOT real, but there is no evidence (except in the secular world of occultism) where they "haunt" cemetaries because that is "what demons or spirits, do". THey want occultists and even Christians to believe that these places are haunted, so yes, they may manifest themselves, for instance, in a cemetary or so-called, haunted house, but this is to make you think these places are "haunted". Like I said, demons and evil-spirits are NOT stupid (in the sense of being dumb spirits that hang around haunted houses) and when we put them in the ranks of just being a bunch of evil spirits haunting your local cemetary then you are being mislead by what THEY want you to THINK of them. In the Bible, the possessed man was indeed hanging around the tombs, but you will notice it was a "possessed" man who was run out of town and not a "haunting".
Reincarnation is another big "new-age" issue. It is easy for spirits to place memories of real occurances that have taken place into a non-believers mind.
Yes, my friend, spiritualism is very, very real and I do believe in them. But, you are underestimating the power available to spirits that have roamed the earth for hundreds of years, manifesting themselves in different ways.
We, as humans, are weaker than these spirits. THIS is the reason it is SOOOOO Important to turn to Jesus Christ for His help and guidance, because only God and the angels and spirits HE sends are capable of absolute protection against evil spirits.
A Ouiji board, unknown to the home-owner, laying in the attic is no more likely to "draw" a spirit to that house than other things, but an owner of the house, dabbling in the occult and PLAYING with that Ouiji board is likely to draw demons to him. Why, not because of the Ouiji board, but because that person has shown themselves open and willing to provide acceptance to the occult and demonism.

"rulers of the darkness of this world" and "Spiritual wickedness in high places." doesn't sound much like ghosts hangin' out at the local cematery, but I bet they could make you THINK they were, if you wanted to believe in the occult!
JohnV, I must agree with you on this one. We get so uptight about symbolism that we become superstitious as Christians. I am not downplaying demons or their powers, but after thinking about the way you put it here, I agree that a licensed professional or Christian counselor would eliminate any physiological problems or other issues that the lady has first.
I do NOT agree that a Harry Potter book is going to turn a person into an occultist. It is a fiction book, no more no less. We could take any book on the shelf and read occultism into it if we wanted. We could even count the letters and see if it has 666 words!

It is NOT the golden calf, it is what you DO with it. If it is a lawn ornament for the neighborhood dogs to use as an expensive bathroom, then it is not evil. If you bow down to it, then YOU are sinning and the calf then becomes evil, in your sight and in God's sight.

mlg1029, my suggestion would be to pray and praise the Lord everytime you have this feeling and focus on our Lord Jesus.
It is possible, that this is caused because you are anxious about a new baby and you may have a chemical imbalance. You really should check with your doctor and talk to your pastor.
If you are praying and praising our Lord, there is no room for demons, IMHO.

I took anti-anxiety drugs for one year, due to panic attacks stemming from a botched epidural steroid injection, needle in spine, that slipped and hit my cyatic nerve, leaving me in mind-bending increased pain, etc.
WEll, these psychiatric drugs nearly wiped out my thinking totally. I could barely put two sentences together (some may wish I was still in this state--ha!).
This was several years ago. God healed my mind.
I dumped all the Buspar and Paxil and Lithium in the garbage and used deep breathing, walking, prayer, and Bible study to regain mental balance.
Like I will not watch The Passion, I also will not read any Harry Potter books.
Those who have read HP and also have read (God forbid, but before you got saved) any Witchcraft or Black Magic books, aren't there any similarities? THe spells are completely fiction, with no basis in actual spells?
Even if total fiction, still HP is satanic, in that it glorifies what to God is an ABOMINATION.

Vaspers, Please be careful here. You may have had negative reactions to the medications, but do NOT, please do NOT, just tell people to drop these medications without at least a discussion with their doctor or a discussion with a Christian doctor if they can find one. Cold turkey on some of these medications can literally throw a person into a situation where they could commit suicide or worse yet, harm other people.
Specifically, I mention Lithium because it is typically used in bi-polar cases to eliminate the extreme highs and lows that a person may have. This is its only use and many people with bi-polar disorder can have MAJOR, MAJOR problems if they do not continue to take their lithium. If nothing else is gained from my post, at least that one medication should be removed from your list. Lithium is not a "mind control" drug, it simply helps a person effected with bi-polar disorder to maintain a normal life.
The reason I mention this is that I am a licensed Private Investigator, and I can tell you from experience that a lot of family abuse and other problems can occur when a person with diagonosed bi-polar disorder quits taking their medications.
Maybe these were not for you, but please don't make a general medical statement about these medications and make a Christian feel they are sinning by taking medications that they very well may need. No doubt, some of these are over-prescribed, but not always and especially not lithium.
It was completely out-of-line of you to mention these medications in the same class (and post) as a "book about black-magic", etc. Especially, considering many people have to take these medications to live a normal life! I know that's blunt, but your experience is not typical for someone who needs these medications and it does not make them a sinner!!!!!!

Vaspers obviously doesn't understand his medications that well anyway because he lumps lithium in with anti-anxiety medications. If you need these medications to feel like a "normal" person, then they are right for you. You are NOT a sinner if you do indeed have bi-polar disorder or require anxiety or pain management in the form of medication; just make sure you are under a doctor's care and do NOT self-medicate.
And, ESPECIALLY, if you have diagnosed bi-polar disorder do NOT quit your meds.
