Know that there was a hugh enruption of a Volcano in Mediterrean sea, that wiped out Minoa/crete, ad was roughly time of th Exodus, if taking early dating...

Could the Plagues have been a result of God using that Natural event, and directed toward Egypt then?

While that is interesting speculation, those events would not account for the specific events leading up to the Exodus, nor the crossing of the Red/Reed Sea on DRY land.

I'm certain that the ancient peoples of Egypt, Palestine, etc., would have been quite aware that unusual things were happening in the atmosphere - including possibly hearing the great blast(s) from those eruptions - but I don't think they would have confused those events with they very specific plagues predicted by Moses.

And just how would an exploding volcano kill only the first born in every household that did not have blood upon the doorposts?

Crossing on dry ground wasn't really a miracle but certainly a providential gift of God.
The winds caused the waters to part, a natural consequence would be for the land to dry.

I've been to the Bay of Fundy at high tide, a few hours later we'd walk on dry ground to a neighboring isle... and then hurry back!

But the Red/Reed Sea is not the Bay of Fundy.

The Bay of Fundy has a regular schedule of filling and emptying that does not allow much plant life to grow or silt to collect on the bottom. The water moves in and out at a rapid rate that keeps much of the silt suspended in the water.

That would not be the case at all for the Red/Reed Sea. It would likely be a muddy mess for a couple of months until the silt and organic material dried out. A wind would help, but it would still take a while.

If God directed a disastur, would it still be a NATURAL disastir? ;)

Good question! I think tat God can use things such as earthquake/volcano/tidal waves at times , but can also choose to use miracles also any time!

Good points! Think that it was supernatural from God, but also that He can choose to use natural means at times to fulfill His purposes!

There's a connection between the natural and the supernatural that we definitely don't comprehend, like the limit point of a deleted neighborhood where the 3 physical dimensions, plus time, develop an impossible (to us) fifth functional axis.... well, I guess this is the Twilight Zone, ain't it?

Anyway, we're not privy to how this supernatural-->natural function works. It is exemplified at least as well in Job, in which Satan is allowed to harm Job, then the flesh&blood enemies attack, the lightning burns, the great wind destroys, and the boils inflict-- all natural events somehow directed by the supernatural. But how? It's not in out 3 dimensions plus time to know. Rod Serling's been dead for 41 years; maybe he's found out what he wishes he hadn't made a Hollywood fortune in that also didn't carry over.

Crossing on dry ground wasn't really a miracle

24 And it came to pass in the morning watch, that Jehovah looked forth upon the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of cloud, and discomfited the host of the Egyptians.
25 And he took off their chariot wheels, and they drove them heavily; so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for Jehovah fighteth for them against the Egyptians. Ex 14

I believe the Egyptians DID NOT have dry ground, but became mired in the mud. An easy miracle for God to do by simply adding some water back from the sea before they were plunged into the depths.

Look at it this way:

Hebrews 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Even a rain shower is an act of God the Son.

One has to make some pretty serious presumptions to draw nature did it conclusions. Mother Nature does not exist--Father God does. And He is on His throne forever.

How would a volcano explain all the Egyptian first born perishing over night and the lamb's blood on the doorposts of Israel? Natural disasters are not that selective.

Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Exactly. Everything is planned from before the foundation of the world--all the way through forever. Natural disaster is a vain attempt to discredit the Bible account of what has happened since: "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth..." Man has an accountability problem as relates to his existence in this world. He must reject the notion that Man is accountable to The Creator of the Universe (not GAOTU). Humanism is everywhere.

Several of our founding fathers would be called Humanists today, including our First President.

The intrigue goes back much further than 1776.

Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Per God, the Cross was His predetermined plan, Jesus hadto die as the Messiah, but God used andf oreknew wicked plans of evil, men also!
Perhaps the humor did not cross the language/cultural wall?
