Can you provide one thing which Paul specifically and plainly says is a PART of his GOSPEL which our Lord Jesus is not said to have taught before His death (thus before the Great Commission) in the Gospel account by John? If you cannot, then how is Paul's Gospel new and different from what Jesus taught?
Thanks,
Bill
Hello Dr. The most noticeable is of course Acts 16 to the Gentile of “believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, and your house”. No one had ever heard of this before, the main reason being, that gospel had never been preached for God had never endorsed such a thing until Paul.
We can only equate the gospel of John, during the life of Paul, and before the destruction of the Temple in A.D. 70 of “repent and be baptized for the remission of sin”, as that was the gospel the Jew still adhered to with its Sabbaths, the sacrifices, the “great commission”, the feasts, and all the rest. This was the Gospel that Jesus told Peter to pay attention to. Jesus told Peter to follow him and His instructions while He was on earth. But what of John, the beloved Apostle of Jesus who was singled out by Jesus as saying,
”If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.” Did not John
tarry. I’m sure John was the only Apostle left at the close of the century. John Tarried, and for a purpose, I believe.
We see in scripture that Peter is the first chosen by Christ to present the Word of salvation by grace through faith to the Gentile, in Acts 10. But this could not happen before Christ spoke to Paul in Act 9, and Saul/Paul was told He would be the Apostle to the Gentile (the only one at that time). But the earthly appointed Apostle Peter was given the honor of preaching to the first Gentile the Gospel for the Gentile, the gospel of “believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.
Act 10 plainly shows this, and this does not agree with what Peter was preaching to the Jews of “repent and be baptized for the remission of sins”. But we notice this is not what Peter had planned, for God stopped Peter’s tongue when he said
”To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. 44. While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. 45. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost”.
So what Peter preached, so did John, for they shook hands with Paul and Barnabas and said we will go to the circumcised. Why? As long as the Temple stood, they observed the Sabbath, the blood sacrifices, and all the rest. Did Paul preach this message to the Gentile, if so, where can I find this in the Word of God. It is not there.
Why does John sound so much like Paul. John had talked to Paul, and John had read all of Paul’s Epistles, and once the Temple was destroyed, John was free to preach the same gospel as Paul. We know that John in his later years preached in one of the churches Paul started. So Peter is the first to preach to the Gentile, John is the last of the earthly Apostle’s to preach to the Gentle, with Paul in-between. Paul I believe is equivalent to the Body of Christ “grace period”. It was dropped down from heaven (not in prophecy) and taken back up again. Doesn’t Paul bring to us the rapture, before the prophecy continues with the tribulation and then the kingdom coming with its King?
I believe Peter was first sent to validate the gospel of Paul to the Gentile, then to prove to the world that salvation now was offered to ALL Through faith that John also preached and came to the full knowledge inthe Pauline gospel. God appointed John to write the gospel that contains his name, and three Epistles to prove Paul's gospel is for this dispehsation. You will not find John making reference to the "great commission" message of "repent and be water baptized for the remission of sins?
Aren’t we today living in a “secret time”, this time that was not known from the beginning? Won’t this dispensation be “snatched” up to meet Christ Jesus in the air? You can’t find us with the gospel of “reconciling the whole world unto himself before the Old Testament began. You can’t find that in the Old Testament. You can’t find that in the Kingdom is at hand gospel before Damascus Road. You can’t find us, the Gentile after the book of Philemon, for we are into the book Hebrews, and on into legalist James with works book for the Jew. All the books after Philemon will be of great interest to those in the great tribulation, as we will be with Christ Jesus during the time Christ comes back to this earth in His wrath.
May I ask you a question? What was contained in the secret in the mysteries of God, that Christ revealed to Paul?
