Discrimination

Magnetic Poles

Jesus accepted sinners, tax collectors and so on but rebuked hypocritical Pharisees and Saducees. Did Jesus discriminate at times? Yes he did, but look at WHY he rejected some and rejected others.
He did not reject people according to outward appearances but because of what was in their heart.

And yet, he turned no one away who was ready to come to him.

This board is supposed to be made up of Christians?

Wow.. I thought I stumbled onto the Pharisees board while reading this thread..

So much hate for your fellow man.. what would Christ say about your posts people?

Do you really hate those that are not like you so much that you would generalize groups people to the point that you uphold your own prejudices...

I'm ashamed to be a part of people like most in this thread.. this is not Kingdom principles..... shame on you all!

Perhaps your definition of hate, Pharisees, and prejudice is based on something other then the mind of Christ or perhaps you have the wrong christ. If you read the scriptures you will see that Christ called people dogs which is the lowest form of crud on earth in the mid east.

My guess is that you hold fast to judge not for others but are guick to proclaim such yourself as we see here. So yes you should be ashamed.

"May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't."
General George Patton.

No matter how hard you try you just can't snuggle up close to a rattle snake. So it is with the enemies of Christ. Do I hate them...? No. Will I snuggle up with them...? No. And somehow this translates into hate?

Give me a break.

I imagine similar words were often spoken before. Perhaps in German back in the 1930s & 1940s. Dehumanizing other people is the first step in a terrible journey.

Excellent analogy

In addition, we should not be afraid or ashamed to call wrongful actions sin or those who partake as sinners.

Now some folks only need a little shoving to repent - others much more....

Phil 3:2 Beware of dogs 2965, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision 2699

"dogs" refers to: metaphor. a man of impure mind, an impudent man
"concision" refers to: to cut up, mutilation

Nah, Paul wasn't dehumanizing others - or was he?

Your post is exactly the attitude I am talking about.

I don't hate the Somalians. I don't want them to leave, and i certainly don't want them to return to Somalia where their lives would be in constant danger.

But after them being here 10 years I do expect them to start carrying thier own weight and taking care of themselves. I do expect a little bit of gratitude for the hospitality that our nation has given them. I am tired of them taking advantage of that hospitality.

If I took advantage of our government, and expected/demanded the American taxpayer to take care of me, you and everyone else would call me freeloader, bum, deadbeat, ect. But, because the Somalians are black Muslims, you say I am a hater for calling them down for the same thing.

So, let me get this straight, it would be wrong for me to live off of a government that I hated, but it's ok for the Somalians to do it? Futhermore, I am discriminating against them by pointing this out?

Get real

Unfortunately, being sinners, we are unable to discriminate in a righteous manner as Jesus did.

Telling the truth is one thing, telling the truth in love is another.

Instead of cursing the darkness, how about lighting a candle? It seems that the mission field has come to you and someone should step forward in Christian love and make a difference. It will be difficult and likely painful but it does no good to complain and build walls.

My neighbor down the street drank beer with my neighbor across the street. They drank beer to beat the band. The neighbor down the street, who had been diabetic for about 25 years and ignored his medical problem, ended up having two heart attacks and two strokes in the same day. He's been confined to a nursing home for the past four years. The neighbor across the street still drinks like a fish.

When I moved here they both took a dislike toward me because I wouldn't drink beer with them but rather, was a faithful Christian. I was referred to as, "...that thing over there...,"

Well, I don't dislike these two men but had no desire to hang out with 'em. I mean, what business does "a thing" have with two certified beer tasters for the Miller Brewing Company? Do I hate these types? No. By politely refusing their hospitality, am I discriminating against them? No.

After living here for 13 years there were five separate occasions where this guys wife approached us about one thing or another all the while Fire and Brimstone was flowing from her mouth and nostrils. I was gracious about it but finally told the guy that if the only time his wife wanted to communicate and otherwise be neighborly with us in that fashion, tell her to stay away. She hasn't been back since.

Should they every show up in church I'll be as polite with them as I can be. Otherwise, I have no need to mingle with them. When I see the guy outside I wave to him; we've met and talking in the yard about one thing or another, but that's about it.

On one occasion he told me that he believed in the Man Upstairs so for sure he's recognized my example. Now if this guy want's to drink himself to death there isn't anything I can do about it.

The average Joe has the right to like or dislike anything or anybody he so desires. Only when this average Joe takes up an action to purposely harm another because of their way in life, then it becomes discrimination.

If a person is saved they are no longer in the same class as sinners. We do have the ability to discriminate just like the Lord as we have His spirit. We can show love and we can dust our feet also. It all depends on who we are dealing with.

I'm not judging others, but when you speak against the very things Christ preached, your own words condemn you.. .

YOU are for discriminating groups of people just because you decide they are not worthy of your love.. or as someone else said, when we help others we deserve appreciation.. hog wash.. go read the sermon on the mount.. Jesus said the Gentiles has this attitude.. why even they help others to get something in return...

Let's quit complaining and condemning people, and like Mexdef said, let your light shine.. NOW theres a novel idea.. LOVE EM LIKE JESUS!

No. We are to show love first regardless of who we're dealing with. Then if rejected, you can dust your feet. This is what Jesus taught the disciples.

We don't get to dust our feet before we've shown love.

Speaking the truth is not a lack of love. You might want to practice what you preach and move into a Somalia neighborhood.
