Why is it that so many think that discrimination is always wrong? God discriminates. Romans 9. That is clear by the bible. If we follow Him are we not also to do the same?

The town I live in has about 5,500 Somalian refugees. About 50 of them work for a living. The rest recieve all kinds of checks and benefits from our government even though they have never paid in a penney.

But if anyone expressess this fact, or complains about it, they are labeled as a bigot and are guilty of discrimination.

How can truth be discrimination?

That is interesting you mentioned Somalian's. I just got back from a short vacation and in visiting one of my relatives who is a banker she mentioned that they have a zero policy on lending money to a Somalian. I was a little shocked at her confession and inquired and she said those people are so evil and corrupt that the banks want nothing to do with them even if they qualify.

This is not hard. It is okay to be discriminating in one's tastes. It is not wrong to discriminate against using substandard parts on an airplane. What is NOT okay is to discriminate against other human beings when it comes to human rights. To do so does indeed constitute bigotry.

I would add that it depends on what one constitutes human rights as they are not as broad and all encompassing as some would have us believe.

I would add that it depends on what one constitutes human rights as they are not as broad and all encompassing as some would have us believe.

For instance, homosexuals?

Am I a bigot for opposing the gay lifestyle? Or am I just following the teachings of the Bible, and human nature in general?

I consider it an "American" right for them to live any way they choose. But I don't consider it a "human" right for them to impose their lifestyle on the rest of society, such as a "right" to marry each other.

They are hard core Islam, they loathe the gospel, and Christians.

This community has had to change almost anything that refers to Christianity to a neutral theme. I know this is going on everywhere, but it is extreme here. The Muslims here object to anything about Christmas in the schools, the decorations the town used to put up, and most especially nativity scenes.

One strange thing though, I am seeing several young American girls in town that now wear the muslim clothing, having married a muslim. I haven't seen an American man with a muslim woman yet though. I just find it interesting that they loathe Christians and even Americans in general, but now they are marrying them.

But yes, i wish more were open to hearing the gospel.

It's interesting to me that Muslim's will become violently opposed to anything Christian and then cry foul, to the extent of violent action should exception be voiced against them and their belief's.

As a tracer round can be seen in both directions, so is discrimination.

I have no use for any group that has absolutely no tolerance for those who oppose the life styles and beliefs of their host country. They should be driven back to their own country and forbidden to return.

Because here in liberal Maine, the majority of the people are athiests or agnostic anyway. For some reason the people of Maine despise Christians, but defend the Muslims. So, they do what they can to reach mostly the younger Muslims. One ministry here for teens has quite a following of Muslim teens and is making a difference, but they take alot of heat, both from liberals and older Muslims.

The Muslims use any excuse to sue Christians also. One Christian man lived next to the Mosque. The Muslims don't have enough parking so they started parking on his lawn without permission. When he put up signs and fences to keep them out, his house was vandalized and his family was threatened. Many locals said he was discriminating against the Muslims by not letting them park on his lawn. The Mosque filed suit. The city threatened to take the man's house through 'eminent domain" and level it and put in a city parking lot to accomodate the Mosque parking problem.

Finally, the city "gave" the Muslims a building that belonged to the city that has adequate parking.

I would venture to say that the city would NEVER give a building to a Baptist church.

"Human Rights" has become a catchall to justify any and all perverted behavior.

What one person views as perversion, may not be for another. We are free to view some things as such, but we must be a nation under the rule of law, of the Constitution. I still believe in the words, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness". I also don't believe the government should rule by the moral standards of any religion, but by the civil law of the land. Unless all are free, none of us truly are. Instead we live under the shadow of our own views becoming outlawed. In areas of personal liberty, I am absolute. I don't want our nation to have police spying in our bedrooms looking for "perverted behavior", not because I fear what I do, but rather because it is not the role of government to do so. Funny how some are for "small government", yet want the civil authority to enforce their own morality. Hypocritical.

All men being equal isn't a problem. It's the part about some of these men wanting to cause havoc on all others who don't believe as they do. Under Serian Law no one is free.

Well said, Tim. Quite a den of vipers and haters. Why would anyone start a thread in favor of discriminating against their fellow man? Hearts are in need of serious introspection. I thought Christ died for everyone, that he loves all. Unlike some who claim his name.

Where it comes to discrimination:

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;

Jesus accepted sinners, tax collectors and so on but rebuked hypocritical Pharisees and Saducees. Did Jesus discriminate at times? Yes he did, but look at WHY he rejected some and rejected others.
He did not reject people according to outward appearances but because of what was in their heart.
