I’m with you here. On another thread on a different angle or portion of soteriology I was reading and rereading what SG said and what I said. I know nobody agrees on everything but sometimes it seems like nobody agrees on anything! When you find someone who agrees with you on one little detail of something it becomes shocking.
I have said before and still say that Calvinists haven’t got everything wrong. Some of the things they have quite right. But not enough for me to say I am Calvinist.
But don’t worry too much. It’s a good thing when Christians find something that they can fellowship about without (aggressive?) discussion.

Very well said, Ben!

I would be lying if I didn't admit I have much in common with the Calvinists, the hard core fundamentalism is alive and well.

I just wish we didn't have predestination standing between us.

Specifically the predestination in relation to salvation.
I believe in predestination in relation to adoption. That is biblically sound.
But some would hand the meaning of Scripture to say “whom he did predestinate, them He did foreknow.” And with their relationship definition of knowing, it says something completely different in their predestination.

How they can be so Biblically sound, but yet see the God of the Bible in way they do in their version of predestination is just unbelievable.

It's one of the few arguments where I have to watch myself, I can go over the edge.

You have to believe in predestination in some form (IMO) seeing it is in there. Some see that the plan was what was predestined. Others see that Christ was predestined and those who are saved then become predestined. Others will say God looked through the corridors of time and saw who would believe and predestined them. Then there is the corporate view of election and God predestining them via that means. So, I do not think it is wise for ppl to deny predestination completely (again, IMO), seeing it is in the bible.

There is one on here who brings Calvinism into virtually every thread he posts in. In the Bible Translation thread he did that very thing. What does Calvinism have to do with that?!?!?! It doesn't. If you and I were in a thread discussing pizza recipes, he would chime in, "So, what you're saying is the crust will rise before you even turn the oven on?" That's typical of you Calvinists!" He has a rather unhealthy obsession with that subject, and I ain't referring to pizza recipes, either.

Yes, predestiation is Biblical. I have given my version of it many times on BB.

Well, I didn't come up with it, it's the work of many scholars.

Sounds like someone I know an agree with. I used to be the same way, just ask Ky.

LOL, I remember K replying with something like, "all that comes out of that claptrap is Calvinism."
