Does God need humans to carry out his plans?

I kinda get tired of telling you this, but you spend too much time listening to false teachers. This is a Word Faith teaching. Don't listen to Word Faith teachers!!

No, yes, no, no, no, no, yes.

God doesn't need people but he uses them.

I agree with Marcia here. Along the same lines, let me also ask Marcia another question:

Does God need the lost person to want to be saved before he can save them?

God doesn't need anything to do anything.

I also agree, the word NEED really stands out as not belonging to this thought.

Does he use man, yes. How can they hear without a Preacher? NEED...

God doesnt need us to save people for Him. He gives us a part to act for our benefit. Thats why He said if we didnt do something the rocks would cry out instead.

God doesnt need us to pray for anyone either. Prayer is to bring us up to God not to bring God down to us.

The more we pray the more we understand how to get our will in line with God's will.

God wants us to develop His character of love and compassion in us. He wants to restore His lost image in us. He does this by both allowing us to have a part in the salvation of others and in praying for them as well.

Thats why God allows poverty and people in need, to call out compassion in us.... to give us a chance to develop His character in us.

I’m really not a fan of “predestination”. My aunt and uncle are mentally handicapped and therefore are not “saved” by some protestant interpretation of biblical salvation, because they can’t repeat a prayer and “know” what they are saying. Does this mean that they're hell bound?

You cant possible know that.
Remember the blind man in John 9? When the pharisees asked, 'who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?'
Jesus answered: Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be manifest in him.'

There are many mentally deficient or with other kinds of severe limitations in our world. God has His reasons for their being so and may well consider them as He does infants in His plan.

What was her name, the blind gifted hymn writer who felt blest to be His and desired no change but gave all glory to God!

God has no needs, of any kind. We are truly blest when He allows our involvement in sharing His word and it brings one of His own into the kingdom!

HP: Cann’t you just read and get along? God needs NOTHING, but He sure wants!:BangHead: :smilewinkgrin:

Seriously, I wonder how many on this list have ever even looked up the definition of ‘want’ in the dictionary? Not many I take it.

Oh well. For your post I would vote for a new series named in your honor. We might name it, “As the Dog Barks” :laugh:

How about repentance and obedience? If God does not need it, why would He send a man to hell apart from getting it? By Dog, I think we are on to something.

I think Amy has explained it quite well. God is sovereign over all and there is not one molecule in the entire universe that is outside of his soveriegn and omnipotent will.

2Cor 4
4
in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

Eph 2
1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins,
2 in which you formerly walked according to the
course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.
3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

Acts 17:24-25 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

DHK, did God need to address the penalty of the law before He could in wisdom grant to men a pardon, or did He even need an atonement to be made at all? Could have God just granted to men forgiveness apart from an atonement?

Do you suppose there is a sense that God has no needs, and a sense that He in fact does have needs?

the atonement is something WE need, not God.

DHK pretty much said it all in his Bible verse from the book of Acts that says God doesnt need ANY thing.

If God needed anything at all then God would not be God. God has need of nothing. You are trying to put God in hypothetical situations where it would seem that God would need something. But it is not so.
In truth we don't deserve anything from God, but his wrath. If God so desired he would be perfectly just in casting all of mankind right now into the Lake of Fire. It is only because of his mercy and grace that He doesn't. He doesn't need us. He doesn't need to address the penalty of sin. He can just wipe us out instead. God didn't have to create the universe. He didn't have to create man. He didn't have to create the world. But He did, and He did it all according to His foreknowledge, knowing in advance what would happen.

God has need of nothing. If he did he wouldn't be God.

Romans 11:33-36 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?
35 Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?
36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

I am sure you don't need my answer on this. :smilewinkgrin:

I think you and Joseph are trying to get me into a corner (he in one and you in the other) and I'm just not going there. Otherwise, I will feel like this. :BangHead:

Um..does this mean that if God wants to save somebody he simply does it and he doesn't need anybody to pray for this person before he can do something?

But how does this fit together with these verses which I quoted??

Mat 9:37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
Mat 9:38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest,that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

Eze 22:30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

And also think about Jesus being our high priest. You could as well say why should Jesus ask God for something? Why should Jesus intercede for us? Why should God beg himself to do something? He might also simply do whatever he pleases to do.

Um . . .

It does mean that God wants you to be discipled . . . instead of perpetrating a 'xdisciplex'.

Get with it!

Get some discipling!
