how can we be "Totally" depraved if we are in the image and likeness of God?

is the image and likeness of God depraved in the slightest?

The entire universe was cursed at the fall. You cut the context because 1689 was saying that total depravity equaled no free will. Clearly, we have free will but free will does not mean that we don't sin by thought, word and deed.

Where do you find free will in the totally depraved flesh?
“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these, adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” Galatians 5:19–21 (NCPB)

It's only here, in the Holy Spirit.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Galatians 5:22–25 (NCPB)

Just because one is saved does not mean that one is sin free.

For a group of people who are adamant that free-will doesn't exist and that all things down to the atom are predestinated of God from eternity past, you Calvinist brethren are inexplicably consumed by a desire to change our minds...

Are you making it easy on yourself denying it is about not being able to have proper motives behind what you think and say? There are none righteous. But you claim to be if you brag that James was wrong and you can control your tongue.
You could remove it.

We are not. We are in Adam's image and likeness. Genesis 5:3

3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth:

Seth was born after the fall, and Adam was spiritually separated from God. A sinner, born to a sinner.
