Paul, it has always been this way in here, sadly. It is crazy how rude people get on a electronic forum. I think we are all a little guilty of losing our Christianity in here. Maybe we all need to make a New Years resolution.

Thanks "rude" seems to me a better adjective than "bullie'. We are all guilty of this from time to time, for some it simply flows more natural.

Ive been able to track this Bully Pattern to its start, at least this is how I see it.

The trajectory starts by looking for something, generally a movement to cast rocks at. When I 1st came on here they were pelting Catholics (of all stripes) & there was a long period of piling up on them. Then there was a period of calm after the blood letting until the Calvinists became the targets. Then came the heady "Calvinist/Arminian" Wars where everyone chose sides to defeat the heresy of the opponent. Yada, Yada, Yada

I figure that it is cyclical & we will get back to it......I call it, your turn in the barrel.

How about some quotes from our OP? Maybe he should practice what he preaches?

Here is a good one from Page 3 of the "Reverend" thread in case you missed it.

So glad you have joined us here on the board, but I continue to see you looking to shove your beliefs on the rest of us. It might be more Christ-like not to expect others to believe as you do since the PBC does not have a direct word straight from God regarding some of the many issues you don't seem to believe in!

I use the "Pastor" before my name, but many folks like to introduce me as Reverend, and I am sure not going to pop their balloon.

Try to have a good day, and remember, the office of Pharisee and Sadducee's ended two-thousand years ago!

This whole place reminds me of a soap opera.....

Will the posters realize that if they just look at the front page of Fox News.com before coming to BB that they will save time by not having to click on everyone of RevMitchell's new threads?

Will someone be told to go chase a rabbit?

Will Salty bump a random thread from 6 years ago, with several folks responding until they realize it was a dead thread.?

Will Iconoclast silence his critics with another healthy dose of scripture?

Will Rippon correct Evan's grammar?

Will Dude get his feelings hurt and lash out at posters who don't agree with him?

Tune in next week to find out, on, as the Baptist Board Turns.....

And is this not another form of gossip? Adding to the heap, even after I admit I am wrong, too. You need to check your heart at the door too. I know you don't like me, and that is your problem to deal with, no longer mine.

If you dig in the cemetery long enough, you will eventually find enough dirt on everyone on this board, but some of your bones are bound to surface too. So tell me. By contributing to Wade's collection of mud to throw on my reputation, do you expect a merit badge for Research, our self righteousness?

One last thing. If I need to be reminded of my shortcomings, I have the ability to conduct a search of my own. God bless and happy holidays too......

Don't forget Breitbart.

Will someone be told to go chase a rabbit?

It they are told this, it was predetermined to happen.

Will Salty bump a random thread from 6 years ago, with several folks responding until they realize it was a dead thread.?

Will Salty post a thread where you must click on an embedded link to see what he's trying to say?

Will Iconoclast silence his critics with another healthy dose of scripture?

Will Iconoclast attempt to bore his critics by quoting 3 chapters of the Bible with only one or two verses relevant to the argument?

Will Rippon correct Evan's grammar?

...and mention the superiority of the NIV?

Will Dude get his feelings hurt and lash out at posters who don't agree with him?

Then post an apology. Then lash out. Then post an apology. Then lash out. Repeat.

I think that there are a great number of folks on this board who intentionally or simply out of ignorance, use bullying tactics to degrade, threaten, demean, embarrass, humiliate, insult, mock, attack, and disparage their brother's and sister's threads or comments. And what is worse: they claim to be doing it in the name "debating!" Surely it is not debating. Rather it is breaking the rules of the board, as they resort to harassment, being rude, and provoking anger in order to fight.

Of course, the witness of this board in the world looking in on us is one of horrors. We have a very poor witness when we succumb to the anger laced vitriol laced comments being submitted (and I am no better than the worst of these) to others whom we may disagree with, often, bitterly.

The problem is, debates do not exist to rip apart opposing views and the holder of those views. In fact, debating is defined as: de·bate /dəˈbāt/
(noun) - a formal discussion on a particular topic in a public meeting or legislative assembly, in which opposing arguments are put forward.

And what's even more disconcerning about attitudes on this board over the last year or more is that those who exist only to cause mental anquish to the holder of an opposing view is that their spirit and heart fail to meat scripture that exhorts how to treat one another.

Romans 2:1-29 (ESV) - "Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things. Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God? Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed."

Romans 2:1 (ESV) - "Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things."

Mark 12:31 (ESV) - "The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself. (if this is how you love yourself, so be it, but you must have a poor selfesteem going on in that heart of hearts?)’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Isaiah 54:15-17 (ESV) - "If anyone stirs up strife, it is not from me; whoever stirs up strife with you shall fall because of you. Behold, I have created the smith who blows the fire of coals and produces a weapon for its purpose. I have also created the ravager to destroy; no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.”

FINALLY: Let me close with a quote from Jean F Larroux. His words say an awful lot in a little space:

"If the biggest sinner you know isn't yourself,
then you don't know yourself very well."

Don't call the bullies out or they'll ban you.

Just to be clear,

1 John 3:14....We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death

Hebrews 13:1 Let brotherly love continue.

Romans 12:10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another;

Least that is what da book says!:jesus:

Will Iconoclast attempt to bore his critics by quoting 3 chapters of the Bible with only one or two verses relevant to the argument?

So...in the dark....you find 3 chapters of the bible to be boring???

Perhaps that explains why many of your posts are devoid of any bible verses at all, just critical comments....interesting.:wavey:

Ps.....the verses surrounding the two relevant verses help present the so called relevant ones:wavey: some might even say...it presents some context:thumbs:

Which now makes your apology ring hollow.

My apology was and is sincere if it offended. As I said before, it wasn't intended to offend. But if It did I do apologize. I don't feel bad that I said it in sarcasm, but that it was deemed offensive. I still think It was intended in the right spirit. :love2::love2:

It is crazy how rude people get on a electronic forum. I think we are all a little guilty of losing our Christianity in here.

I've always called it a "superiority complex". It's too easy for Christians to believe they are right and others are wrong, and when that other person doesn't see it that way, a hate fest ensues. This exists in lots of subjects, especially politics, but with Christianity people believe that the Bible backs them up, nevermind that their interpretation may be different from everybody else's, and nevermind that the person they are arguing with is supposed to be on the same side. It's much easier for people to believe they are right BECAUSE IT SAYS SO RIGHT THERE.

Even if not initially arguing, this leads certain personality types to respond smugly, as I fully expect some people to do with this response, which usually leads to a big mess of a thread, flared tempers, and a very bad impression to bystanders. You guys do realize threads are public to the entire world right? Are smug passive-aggressive responses really how you want to represent things? That's not being a very good ambassador to the religion.
