I read on FB that Dr. Dobson and some 40 faith leaders helped lead him into faith fairly recently. I also heard that he received a copy of a certain book that I won't mention, and while the author of the book he received is not teaching another gospel, I do not think he dives into it as he should, so if Mr. Trump is open he needs to read a book on Lordship Salvation such as the Gospel According to Jesus and refer to the many passages in scripture that teach the doctrine.

I hope that Donald Trump becomes a real Christian, and while a baby at first he grows into a mature Christian. For myself it took a while to grow and I think a part of the problem was not being taught LordShip Salvation, and having been around non-Calvinist churches and influences that all reject Lordship Salvation and so I did not learn it and how crucial it is to someones walk with Christ.

So a praise and we need to be in prayer for Mr. Trump. I plan to vote for him in November.

I don't want to start a spitting match, but I think that the reason you didn't grow was not necessarily that you didn't learn "lordship salvation" or attended a non-Calvinist church but that that you were not taught the importance of obedience and holiness, neither of which are exclusive to Calvinist or Lordship churches.

As to whether The Donald has indeed done what Dobson (of whom I am not a particular fan) says will be shown by how he behaves. Conversion will result in a change in behavior.

We elect folks, I think, not for what they believe, but for what they do. "Easy believism" politics is no better than "easy believism" religion.

Actually, the article claims that someone led him to make a commitment. No names, no specific time. There's no indication that it was any of the "40 faith leaders."

I hope that Donald Trump becomes a real Christian...
Yes, I do too. However, that still doesn't make him a good Presidential candidate. His policy positions undermine religious liberty and freedom of the press. Unless he changes those positions and demonstrates some basic knowledge of world affairs and issue - as well as the temperament and grace to lead people who are not on his payroll - he is not qualified.

So a praise and we need to be in prayer for Mr. Trump.
I am praying for him and his opponent, Ms. Clinton. I am also a bit skeptical of the timing of this commitment. When he starts bearing fruit - such as controlling his tongue - I will be much more convinced.

I plan to vote for him in November.
I do not.

I do not.

Then you will be voting for Hillary Clinton no matter how fiercely you deny this.

Didn't you post a thread very recently about not automatically clapping and praising the Lord about people's testimonies? I searched for it but couldn't find it.

Anyway, this sure seems like one of those situations, except the testimony is coming third-hand--a guy knows a guy that says...

So what's the solution if you think the two evils are equivalent?
My solution for anyone who thinks the two evils are equivalent is either intensive instruction in reality or aggressive psychiatric treatment.

Strictly speaking of American presidential races, then I suppose you could evaluate the composition of the Legislative branch and vote in whoever would cause the most gridlock. If both choices are evil, then aim for the choice which will provide the most inaction.

Or not. It was just a thought. :)

NEW YORK, NY – American evangelical icon James Dobson’s recent announcement that Donald Trump has “accepted Jesus” is being met with hoots and howls of relief from millions of professing Christians desperately seeking any tiny little shred of cover for openly supporting one of the most proud, unrepentant, and boldly anti-Christian men to ever seek the presidency.

Notably absent from Dobson's announcement of The Donald’s conversion was any direct statement along those lines from Trump himself, who merely stood behind Dobson smiling and giving the occasional thumbs up while Dobson spoke to an assembled mass of evangelical Republicans gathered to do whatever it takes to prevent a registered Democrat from becoming President.

“I can’t tell you exactly when Donald accepted Jesus, but it was pretty recently, so he’s just a sweet little baby Christian and we need to cut him some slack,” explained Dobson while Trump nodded and winked to the crowd. “He doesn’t really know all the trick words and American evangelical lingo yet, so we have to give him some time before we can expect him to exhibit even the most basic, elementary evidence of true supernatural conversion as recorded in Scripture.”

“Just because back in Bible days true salvation always produced certain things, some of them immediate, like repentance, doesn’t mean that we need to expect anything like that from Donald right now or anytime soon,” Dobson added.

I'm not going to jump on the band wagon... Not yet I'm going to wait and see... Man looks on the outward appearance but God looks on the heart... Brother Glen

1 Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

No what I said is testing the testimony with sound discernment and making sure its Biblical before we applaud. In this case I hope that he sincerely got saved and is saved, but only time will tell if he is a true or false convert.

Donald Trump accepts Christ

Of course, I hope that it is true; but because of the outward circumstances, I am skeptical.

Reminds me a bit of the guy who finds religion before he is to be sentenced to prison in hopes to get a shorter term.

Possibly the case with him, but no one knows.

If this is true ... it is wonderful! And it is not up to ANYONE on this forum to question the validity of this conversion, because a persons salvation is between God and that person; meaning that ONLY God know for sure!

Thanks for posting this, Evan! Shalom!
