kj...no points for paying attention for you today. I posted the reference. Look it up yourself. Oddly enough we had a sermon on just that not that long ago.

Anyone that goes to Sunday school can prove the allegation. Why dont you ask your pastor for guidance on that passage?

The example of a Christian nation I referred to did.
In fact in reallife the difference between
{A Christian nation 3 = a Theocracy under the boot of one specific denomination}
and
{A Christian nation 4 = a country that is governed in large part by people that base their decisions on Christian precepts.}
has been caused by the coming together of Christians who have different ideas for a common political cause.

My definition of a Christian nation hasn't appeared on this board.

My definition of a Christian nation is a nation where Christians who occupy high offices like the Supreme Court, the Presidency, The Congress or Senate - are not condemned for publically acknowledging Christ, and not criticized for praying to Christ if they choose to do so, in public or in private, before they conduct the business of the nation.

My definition of a Christian nation is a nation where the bible is not attacked by people - banning it from schools, mocking it in classrooms, and forbidding posting of its words in public buildings.

My definition of a Christian nation is a place where a Christian is at least given equal time to present their views in classrooms and public buildings.

They taught world religions in a school in my town, but the kids were told NOT to mention Christianity.

They asked a youth minister to pray at a football game, but requested his prayer be "generic" and "not mention Christ by name." He prayed to Christ and was expelled from the game.

They fired a judge who took a stand on the posting of the 10 commandments, and Christians condemned the man for taking the stance.

The local state owned University allows the posting of websites for GLBT organizations but NOT for Christian organizations.

Christianity is slowly being outlawed ladies and gentlemen. Under the guise of "freedom to all," they are taking away Chritain freedoms. They paint us as fools, simpletons, idiots and dangerous fanatics. They censor our very prayers.

Do you think, for one moment, an Arab would be asked NOT to pray to "Allah" if they were asked to pray in public? How DARE they ask a Christian not to mention Christ in prayer?

And how dare any Christian say it is RIGHT of them to do so!?

TS, while some of your statements are worthy, in order to have the type of nation you're referring to, we'd have to change the Constitution. No thanks, I'll stick with the one we've got.

Thankful

I have not read all the posts on this thread, but a Christian Nation would be difficult to define.

Just yesterday on the Dr. Phil Show, his guests were former members of a cult, that their leader calls Christian. We certainly would not want to live in the manner in which they live. I'm talking about a community here in the United States, one that practices polygamy with older men marrying young girls and expecting them to have many children. They remove themselves from the "world". They have their own schools and tell anyone who leaves their community that they will be lost and burn in hell. They teach their children that they are not to show any emotion and discipline them if they do.

Would we want our nation to be this type of "Christian Nation"? What if this man who calls himself a prophet were in charge?

Sometimes we forget to Praise the Lord for the nation that we have!

Carpro...where did I say the Ten Commandments are not from God? If you aren't going to get what I say correct, then don't bother saying anything. This is what I SAID: "They were given to Israel. They are of Jewish ORIGIN." Get it right next time.

Of course I know how to find the sermon on the mount? Such pride you have Sir. Do you know how to find Canada on the map?

King James wrote:

But they are not. They originated with God.

Are you still dodging my request for a scripture where Jesus said , "Hate your parents"?

"They are of Jewish ORIGIN" must be taken in context.
Read the sentence over again that you conveniently cut out half of!

Here it is AGAIN!

This is what I SAID: "They were given to Israel. They are of Jewish ORIGIN."

They were given to Israel BY GOD. How could they be given to Israel by God if they weren't given by God??? When I say Jewish origin I mean they were given to Israel and that's where they began. I do not recall the Ten Commandments being given to Africa.

I am not dodging any request. I just think you're being stupid. You know where the verse is. But I will go get it for you ok Master? By the way, my aunt just died. Thanks for your kind words. NOT. Such Christian love...

Suddenly context is important? No kidding Sherlock! That's the whole point of why I did that. You said something that had no Scriptural support and no context. I just did the same thing in response. I believe I ALREADY explained that. Anyways...here is the Scripture. I am waiting for an apology for trying to make me look stupid implying that I could not find a Bible passage nor that Jesus mentioned hating your parents. Enjoy!

From the book of Luke, chapter 14:

25Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: 26"If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters—yes, even his own life—he cannot be my disciple. 27And anyone who does not carry his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

So you believe that Jesus wants us to hate our parents?

In comparison to how much we should love him, yep. Otherwise He wouldn't have said it would He? Oh...and if Jesus affirmed it...it's Christian.
