What does it mean to do this? We need to do this more as no one likes to be lied about, torn down, and such. How can people be more edifying?

Proverbs 15:1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Leave the rabbits at home
But when people outright lie about me this is inappropriate
I think if we are honest, the vast majority of us who are here are not here so we can be encouraged or edified. We are here b/c we like the arguments. We like to talk to people here the way we wish we could talk in the real world. What does it mean to do this? We need to do this more as no one likes to be lied about, torn down, and such. If you stop acting like one. Anyways I will leave the rabbits at home if people stop dishing out insults towards me.

On a board such as this, it means mutual dialogue. It also means presenting and defending one’s ideas, legitimately considering the positions of others, and having the patience to calmly walk other’s through your own thought process. As this is a Christian board, I think that it means holding ideas and views to the standard of Scripture. It means not carrying our feelings on our sleeves and allowing others to question our beliefs. It means answering others who do question our beliefs. It means listening to others and asking questions. It means finishing what you start and sticking with the conversation. Most importantly it means the willingness to change your belief when it does not align with Scripture (aka, edification) without reverting to a child and walking away or posting pictures of animals. What does it mean to do this?
They can explain how they arrived at their conclusions via Scripture. How can people be more edifying?

I … and my wife agrees…find, however, that I am much harsher and less patient than I was 10 years ago (aka, I don’t suffer fools as well as I once did).
This is a board for dialogue not monologues which means there will be disagreement. We should also realize that disagreement does not mean it's not edifying. Sometimes the most edifying thing we can do for someone is disagree with them and tell them why.
Well that is very much the world we live in today. People cannot understand that disagreement is not hate. That is what they are taught with all their trigger warnings and free speech zones. It is difficult for me to understand the mindset of some (nobody specifically) who consider others' disagreement to be a personal insult. I can only think that it must be based on some level of narcissism.
That sounds a bit like age. You do not yell at people for walking on your lawn yet, do you? :tongue3:
