I have explained this to you several times before. I believe that one is regenerated by the Word of God. The Holy Spirit regenerates someone through the Word of God. He does not "try" to do so, but He actually does do so. The Holy Spirit uses the Word of God to illuminate one's heart to the truth of the Gospel in regeneration [see Galatians 1:15-15]. Therefore, the command and need to preach the Gospel and the sovereign election of God are in perfect harmony.Calvinism teaches that a man is regenerated to have the ability to understand the scriptures, it teaches that regeneration gives the gift of faith to believe the word of God. But this is the opposite of what the scriptures teach. The scriptures teach that a man is born again or regenerated by the word of God, and that a man receives the Holy Spirit after believing the word of God.
Nope. Everyone who is regenerated is so by the Word of God. The Holy Spirit uses the Word of God to regenerate people. He does not wait for people to make themselves "regeneratable."1 Pet 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
So again, Calvinism teaches the exact opposite of what the scriptures say.
My "logic" comes from a careful analysis of the verse in English and Greek and comparing it with other verses such as Philippians 1:29 (which you so conveniently ignored in this reply.What kind of logic is that? If God gives man faith, then that man is receiving faith through grace. But the scriptures say grace comes through faith, the exact opposite of what you believe.
No, I do not reverse this. Notice the "wherein we stand." The verse is talking about those who are already saved. Faith is the channel through which God gives His grace and faith is also the channel and means by which we can access the grace of God in our lives. We can come boldly unto the throne of grace. We do not need to keep the Law to have access, we have the access "into this grace wherein we stand" through the channel of faith.Rom 5:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
You cannot enter into God's grace except through faith. But you believe the opposite, that God gives grace which gives man the ability to have faith. How can a man receive a gift from God and that not be grace? Also, note the direction shown in this verse, it says "we" have access "into" grace. It is not showing grace coming to us, it is showing we are moving into grace. You reverse this.
I have emphatically stated that we have access to grace through faith as well. You just understand this channel of faith differently. Faith is not the causative agent here; grace is. Faith does not make one "graceable." Grace makes one "faithable." Faith is the channel (dia) through which God gives grace. Much like one putting oil in an engine. The oil is the grace and the funnel is the faith--the channel. God gives grace through the channel of faith. Although the funnel "comes out" of the engine, it was placed there by the one providing the oil and was put there for the purpose of providing oil. God gives grace and He does so through faith. Although we possess and exercise faith unto justification, we have it because God gave it to us for the purpose of grace.Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Yes, we are saved by grace, but we only have access to God's grace through faith. This is what the scriptures clearly show in several places, but you teach the exact opposite.
We receive faith from grace (See Philippians 1:29), and we receive grace through faith (See Ephesians 2:8).So faith is the channel? Then which do you come to first, faith or grace? You come to faith first, it is your passageway, your channel, your bridge to grace. Again, you reverse the order, the scriptures say we enter into grace through faith, not that we receive faith through grace.
It's more like this:What the scriptures teach:
Faith -------> Grace
What Calvinism teaches:
Grace -------> Faith
Grace -------> Faith -------> Grace, Grace, Grace
No, you are not understanding what I was saying. You also need to look at Philippians 1:29 and explain to me how I am reading it incorrectly in both the Greek and the English.If I said I drove from New York to New Jersey through the Lincoln Tunnel and asked you if I came to the Lincoln Tunnel or New Jersey first, you would have no trouble answering correctly. But with the scriptures you reverse this concept to support your doctrine. Once again an example of teaching exactly the opposite of what the scriptures say.
I could go on and on explaining how you are misunderstanding what I am saying.I could go on and on showing examples of how Calvinism and the Doctrine of Grace reverses what the scriptures say.
You are taking 2 Peter 3:9 out of context.The scriptures say God is not willing that any man should perish, your doctrine says God is quite willing to let the vast majority of mankind perish.
The reason that God is longsuffering in holding back His second coming is that He is not willing that any of His people would perish. He will come again when all of His people come to repentance.2Pe 3:1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise [of His coming], as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to US-WARD [the "beloved"], [how?] not willing that any [of us] should perish, but that all [of us] should come to repentance.
You are taking this one out of context, as well.The scriptures say God has no pleasure in the death of the wicked, your doctrine teaches that he does. I have seen Calvinists say this on numerous occasions.
God had no pleasure in destroying His people Israel for their sins. However, He still did so to bring them back to Himself as He did throughout their history.Eze 33:10 Therefore, O thou son of man, speak unto the house of Israel; Thus ye speak, saying, If our transgressions and our sins be upon us, and we pine away in them, how should we then live?
Eze 33:11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
I have done my dead level best here to understand the Scriptures, to study the English and the Greek, and to explain them to the best of my ability. Please do not accuse me of being either ignorant or outright belligerent to the Scripture.Doesn't matter, I have noticed that Calvinists and DoGs are impervious to what the scriptures say.
Sometimes one can obtain the incorrect meaning from what is "easily understood" by missing the context of a passage in question. I have tried my best not to take anything out of context.Their understanding is dyslexic, understanding scripture to say the exact opposite of what it is easily understood to say.
