So are those verses not really a part of the word of God?However, Paul was a fallible human being, and in other verses, he is quite uncharitable toward women.

They were written to a specific audience at one specific place and time. Some have universal application, others are more targeted to members of a specific church in a specific society.Dale-c said:So are those verses not really a part of the word of God?

is what was right then wrong now?
when did this change?
So things were wrong back then but they are ok now and vice versa?God hasn't. Sinful men have.
The Bible accepts slavery in its teachings. Today, we find it abhorent. Things DO change.

Dale, Jesus himself taught that God gives orders that change due to the sinful nature of man. From Matthew 19:Dale-c said:So you are saying that something that the Bible says is ok could now be wrong because times have changed?
Dale-c said:A husband certainly has the duty to love his wife and do what is best for her but the ultimate decision on whether she works and where she works has to meet with his approval.
My wife does a lot of thing without the appearance of my permission but she still has it.
She didn't have to ask me about the painting she is doing now but if for some reason I had felt that was not in the best interest of our family I could have over ruled.
Of course something like that is fine.
Cutter said:I have thoroughly enjoyed the debate thus far. Thanks for all of the insight, both biblical and personal. I have to give Dale and Rufus the advantage because of their biblical support for their position, which is my position, as well. I say so without equivocation or reservation. :godisgood:

I did read your post. I see you mean to loving etc but do you believe that you as the head of your home must have the final say in such matters?Come in Dale - read the whole post. I explained exactly what I meant.
