Is your Internet Business glorifying God?

Are you honestly expecting anyone on this board to believe that you don't do anything at all in your life that is not "witness" related? You don't have a cola instead of pure water? You don't read a newspaper or magazine or book that isn't 100% scripturally edifying? You don't watch television? Never go to a movie? Never camp out? Never attend or participate in a sports event? Don't ever attend a musical concert?

Stopy lying to yourself, and don't use mission work as a way of getting around the truth. EVEN 3rd world countries that are poverty striken have some means of celebration of life, and some forms of amusement.

And before you preach so hard on "deny" yourself - DO IT. Give up your home, your car, you telephone line that lets you surf the web, your snack foods and clothes that fit.

If you read the deny yourself passage in context he was telling the disciples to give up everything, even the basic security of the basic necessities, and rely on God for every single meal, every night of housing.

The fact that you are HERE says you haven't done that.

I gave you Scripture. If you disagree with the Scripture I gave then tell me, and we will discuss it. But if so (i.e. disagreeing with Scriptures), be reminded that you disagree with God and not me. Also, as far as my position on various things discussed on this board are concerned, I have backed my position up with Scripture. Have you?

Now...are you going to answer my questions? Which sock does Scripture tell you to put on first? Left or right? Oh wait...Scripture does not tell you to wear socks. It doesn't tell you to have a computer and it certainly gives you no right to judge someone simply because they like something that is not sinful that you don't like. You want to talk about arrogance...

I gave you scripture in another thread that was very similiar, New Testatment scripture that you totally ignored.

I don't disagree with God. The bible speaks often of Christians being the Children of God, and it speaks of God blessing His children.

I disagree with someone indicating that the bible says God wants nothing but suffering and misery for His people. Frankly, I think that message borders on something Satan would say.

Concerning your socks this is the closest I can come to:
Deuteronomy 22:11 Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woollen and linen together.

So, if you are going by the law, I hope that your socks are all made of just one material and not part cotton or part wool or part polyester. Just one fabric is allowed.

They were different because the God that they served demanded them to be different. He demanded holiness. He demands the same thing today.

"Be holy; for I am holy"

Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Without holiness no man shall see the Lord.
The command is to be holy.
The command is not to be conformed to this world.

In the light of these commands, where do you stand?
On the side of holiness, or
on the side of the world?

The question is not what sock to put on first, but how holy you are; how close to God you are compared to how close to the world are. Read James 4:4 again. Whose friend are you? The world's or God's?

Who are you quoting? Who referred to God as such? Could you provide more information please. We don't want to be misaligned or wrongly misrepresented for things we never said.

I have a 3-year-old. He has some toys top lay with. Should I take away his toys and insist that he not have any fun? Playing with toys is entertaining to him after all. Is it a sin for my son to play with toys? Should make sure he is always unentertained, so he will learn how to bear the cross when he grows up?

The Bible says to entertain strangers. If entertainment is forbidden, what do you say about that verse?

I do not see any scripture that forbids entertainment. Can you show me any scripture that says entertainment is sinful? The Bible does teach us to deny ourselves an bear the cross. But it does not say that there is not a place to enjoy life. There is plenty of scritpure about enjoying life, rejoicing, being thankful for God's blessing, etc.

I would like to see some scriptural support for your ideas that entertainment is forbidden.

This also applies to the entertainment is worship issue. The Bible does not teach us to reject music, preaching, etc. on the basis of whether or not it is entertaining. Something can be entertaining, but still be edifying and pleasing to God. If we love the things God loves, then we will be 'entertained' by good things. We will find our delight in the things of God.

Jim, are you implying someone is an idiot? If I had said that I would be reprimanded and have it edited. I think the same should be done to you.

DHK...YOU don't want to be misaligned or wrongly misrepresented (poor grammar) for things you never said? How about when you said to me: "I bet you just loved it when Mike Tyson bit that guy's ear off..."? What "excuse" are you going to make for that one huh? Actually I know what you did, calling the post idiocy and not the person. I have a pretty good grasp of grammar and excellent reading comprehension skills as proven by tests. But that was just your veiled attempt at calling the person an idiot. Idiocy stems from being an idiot.

Hmmm. let's see. Jesus attended weddings, dinners, feasts--He was Jew afterall! lol He may have even fished or horsed around w/the disciples. I believe He enjoyed His life on earth--if kids were drawn to Him, I believe he knew how to have fun.

I think it's fine for Christians to enjoy entertainment--but to be careful about what we choose as entertainment. I'm careful about movies and shows I watch. Many times a "harmless" sitcom has to be turned off b/c of the way it portrays God/Christians and His standards. Most of them can't be watched now.

Sporting events, plays, concerts, banquets can have a place in the Christian's life. It's when entertainment takes time away from the Lord.

For some of you confused by why I accused DHK of calling God a God of gloominess, understand, this all began in another thread. In one of these threads DHK actually posted that God does not approve of fun, and then listed verses from the Old Testament like, "He is a man of sorrow" as scripture that he viewed as supporting that God doesn't approve of fun.

I totally disagree with DHK in that viewpoint. God is NOT against fun. God is against SIN.
There CAN be and SHOULD be "fun" that is NOT sinful.
