ESV 2025 - Change notes

I have watched his videos and have read Brandon Peterson's book. Brandon Peterson and his non-scriptural claims are not Scripture. Brandon Peterson's opinions conflict with the Bible doctrine of the completeness and sufficiency of all Scripture given by inspiration of God to the prophets and apostles. There was no additional revelation that needed to be added in 1611.

If a numeric pattern does not exist in the Hebrew Masoretic text or the Greek Textus Receptus text, it suggests that it would not be part of the actual complete and sufficient Scriptures given by the process of inspiration of God to the prophets and apostles.

Is it in effect suggested by the claimed miracles in numeric patterns that God contradicts Himself and endorses omitting many original language words of Scripture by giving no English rendering for them in the KJV and endorses adding many words in English for which there were no original-language words of Scripture so that a numeric pattern could result

The Hebrew text do have patterns as well, such as finding people's name and dates.

Good day, take care. Farewell

I finally had a chance to go over the notes and I have to say, most of these are welcome changes.

I'm glad they're changing course on Genesis 13:6 and having it more in line with most other popular translations (contrary for instead of contrary to your husband.) I also like how they are leaving Revelation 13:8 alone as an ambiguous statement, rather than forcing a theological opinion into the text (from instead of before the foundation of the world.)

This past week Logos Bible Software updated their digital version of the ESV.

As the ESV Preface reads:
We know that no Bible translation is perfect, but we also know that God uses imperfect and inadequate things to his honor and praise. So to our triune God and to his people, we offer what we have done, with our prayers that it may prove useful, with gratitude for much help given, and with ongoing wonder that our God should ever have entrusted to us so momentous a task. To God alone be the glory!

The ESV Translation Oversight Committee comments: "Briefly summarized, the committee made text changes to 36 Scripture passages involving 42 verses, resulting in a total of 68 word changes. Given that there are nearly 757,400 words in the ESV, this represents a change of about one word per 11,000 words in the ESV text. In addition to the above text changes, a limited number of changes were made to 57 footnotes, and a few additional changes were also made to punctuation in 14 verses".
