The reference to some would be as in some people, not some Christians
You can't depart from something you were never a part of!
But hey, you believe what you want to believe and I'll do the same.

The reference to some would be as in some people, not some Christians
As long as we keep focused and fixed upon Yeshua, trusting in Him alone to save us and keep us saved,
My point was that many who see that we can actually lose our eternal life in Christ want to appeal to OT passages many times, but that would be referencing a far inferior Covenant
Reminds me of the question I hear people ask often, “why don’t the youth stay in church?” I think that they could easily be described as departing from the faith while never having personally participated in it. They have grown up with a “drug” problem as they say. They were drug to church their whole lives. They prove the truth of the Apostle John, who wrote to us that they departed from us, as while among us, were never really one of us
2 Corinthians 1:22 - who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.(Eph 4:30 KJV) And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
Enough said.
<1,,728,arrabon>I keep coming back to this thought so I will reply to it again.
Ephesians 1:13-14
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
2 Corinthians 1:22
Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
2 Cor. 5:4-5 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
The earnest that Paul speaks of is the downpayment of what is better to come.
When we are saved we are sealed with the Holy Spirit. The the guarantee that God will uphold His side of the purchase. But the word sealed indicates a surer finishing of the purchase of the sinner. We are bought, we have a new tenant living within us. But He is only part of the purchase plan. He represents only the earnest. The best is yet to come and the deal is sealed.
Applying that definition to the topic, God would forfeit Himself if He didn’t keep his promise.<1,,728,arrabon>
originally, "earnest-money" deposited by the purchaser and forfeited if the purchase was not completed, was probably a Phoenician word, introduced into Greece. In general usage it came to denote "a pledge" or "earnest" of any sort; in the NT it is used only of that which is assured by God to believers; it is said of the Holy Spirit as the Divine "pledge" of all their future blessedness, 2 Corinthians 1:22; 5:5; in Ephesians 1:14; 4:30 particularly of their eternal inheritance.

Which seems to be supported by the facts that the various cults seem to get mainly persons that were exposed to a church. "dragged into it", yet never took root and made the bible and Christian doctrines and Jesus real and relevant and personal to them!Reminds me of the question I hear people ask often, “why don’t the youth stay in church?” I think that they could easily be described as departing from the faith while never having personally participated in it. They have grown up with a “drug” problem as they say. They were drug to church their whole lives.
With no one to take them where they ought to be, they stop going where they never wanted to be.
To be able to break that sealing of the Holy Spirit, one would have to be greater than God Himself2 Corinthians 1:22 - who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.
2 Corinthians 5:5 - Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.
Ephesians 1:13 - In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
Ephesians 4:30 - And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed unto/for the day of redemption.
A promise to grant to us in full what we have now in Christ Jesus in resurrection day<1,,728,arrabon>

In the interest of figuring out who believes what, the doctrine of Eternal Security, Assurance of Salvation, Once Saved Always Saved,… what ever you want to call it- I would like to know what your title and explanation for this subject is. If you are opposed to the notion please share the name of your alternative doctrine and explanation. (Heretic is not an acceptable title)
I’m interested to know where we stand individually because the broader forum is too vague on the subject to give me an accurate idea of who I’m talking to.
The Lord Jesus Himself promised that he will raise up in the end ALL given to Him by the Father, not that some will get lostI would just call it the promise of God
John 11:26 KJV
And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
