1/8/2005: Ex-President Disgraces Himself Again

Jimmy Carter and Christine Todd Whitman, in Ramallah to certify another sham Palestinian election, “pay their respects” at the grave of one of the century’s most accomplished terrorist mass murderers:

Paying "respects" at the grave of a mass murderer doesn't seem to be what I would call "nice."

Paying respect to a dead Head of State is nice, especially when trying to broker a peace between mortal enemies.

Carter's foreign policies always seemed suicidal in regards to our national interests. He gave away the Panama Canal and was always eager to make concessions to the Soviets. For those reasons, he may feel a kinship with suicide bombers. If he were president today, he might likely try to broker a treaty with Osama.

Head of State my eye. That man was no more a 'head of state' than my cat is king of the jungle. He was nothing more than a terrorist, pure and simple.

You can't pick the enemies with which you want to deal. You can, however, make a gesture which may do something to remove the suspicion among Arabs that all Americans hate them.

Carter did the Christian thing, and of course, some people find that offensive.

Too bad.

Galatian:

If Reagan or Bush had paid their respects, it would have been considered "the Christian thing to do".

Since Carter, a Democrat, did it, that makes it "offensive". Isn't that the way it works?

I don't find it offensive that Carter, the second worse President of the USA behind Clinton, the worst, visited the grave of Arafat. Afterall, both Carter and Arafat won the Nobel Peace Prize. And Arafat is the first Egyptian to be head of a non-existent Arab state funded by Europeans. Also, Arafat is the first major Egyptian to die of aids and the first major Egyptian to be more or less openly bi-sexual or homosexual. Carter did the right thing.

Yes, and you are still posting right after me on that subject everytime I post. What did he die of--too many shamrocks? You know that you know that Arafat was homosexual and you know that everyone in Israel says that he died of aids. But I thank you for presenting the European point of view--appeasement.

That's cute CMG, appeasement because I refuse to accept rumours without substantiation.

Besides, you know I am not a European.

I am appaled that former Presdient Carter honoured this terrorist by visiting his memorial. I am old enough to remember his "Guns or Olive Branch" speech.

I won't argue that point either. Although I think it wrong for us to glory in the death of any sinner without Christ - the world is better off without Arafat.

I don't know what you guys expected Carter to do. Once a guy is dead, what is the sin of visiting his grave? People complained when Reagan visited the graves of German soldiers from WW II. Carter did something harmless enough. He visited the grave of an Egyptian homosexual whose name belongs on the aids quilt.

Would Jesus have done that to Moses who murdered someone and David as well?
