Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I have been a lurker here for many years, but just now joining. Because of that, I feel like I kind of know many of you, but you don't know me, so here is my quick bio:
I was raised in relatively conservative BBFI churches, and came to faith in Christ at a young age. I felt called to ministry early on, and have been active in service ever since. I graduated in 2000 from BBC in Springfield, MO (now Mission University) with a B.S. in Pastoral Ministry, and 21 years later was finally able to complete a Master's in Church Ministry from there. I have served as youth pastor, associate pastor, and bi-vocational pastor in SW MO and SE CO, and am currently teaching in our church's Bible institute and preaching as pulpit fill when asked here in central VA. To pay the bills I am currently and frequently have worked as a computer support technician. Unlike many of my pastoral brethren, I do not like coffee and I DO NOT play golf. I drink tea, Dr. Pepper, and prefer time at the gun range for recreation.
I thorough enjoy constructive debate and discussion as "iron sharpening iron" so I'll go ahead and put out some of my positions, as I expect to be engaging in some of those discussions. I am unashamedly Baptist (as if my username doesn't give you a clue) and Dispensationalist. I consider myself to be an independent fundamentalist (note the lower case, not IFB). Most of all, for what I believe I strive to abide by my late professor Dr. James Sewell's mantra of "What does the Bible say?"
I hope that I can be an encourager and a positive contributor to this fellowship, and look forward to engaging in the conversations!
