Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I have been a lurker here for many years, but just now joining. Because of that, I feel like I kind of know many of you, but you don't know me, so here is my quick bio:

I was raised in relatively conservative BBFI churches, and came to faith in Christ at a young age. I felt called to ministry early on, and have been active in service ever since. I graduated in 2000 from BBC in Springfield, MO (now Mission University) with a B.S. in Pastoral Ministry, and 21 years later was finally able to complete a Master's in Church Ministry from there. I have served as youth pastor, associate pastor, and bi-vocational pastor in SW MO and SE CO, and am currently teaching in our church's Bible institute and preaching as pulpit fill when asked here in central VA. To pay the bills I am currently and frequently have worked as a computer support technician. Unlike many of my pastoral brethren, I do not like coffee and I DO NOT play golf. I drink tea, Dr. Pepper, and prefer time at the gun range for recreation.

I thorough enjoy constructive debate and discussion as "iron sharpening iron" so I'll go ahead and put out some of my positions, as I expect to be engaging in some of those discussions. I am unashamedly Baptist (as if my username doesn't give you a clue) and Dispensationalist. I consider myself to be an independent fundamentalist (note the lower case, not IFB). Most of all, for what I believe I strive to abide by my late professor Dr. James Sewell's mantra of "What does the Bible say?"

I hope that I can be an encourager and a positive contributor to this fellowship, and look forward to engaging in the conversations!

Glad to have you on board, lurker!! Some of my BBF friends go to extremes (instead of normal Baptists, like me :) ) but we agree on most issues. I visited the Springfield campus decades ago and found a good spirit among the faculty and students. Praise God for your work and service to our Savior and look forward to good discussions ahead!

Welcome mate. Gun range? Pistol? Rifle? Shotgun?

Any hunting, fishing?

Tea? Green, Black? Don’t say green.

I am unashamedly Baptist (as if my username doesn't give you a clue) and Dispensationalist.

Sorry to hear it mate. :Frown I’ll say a Hail Mary and throw another shrimp on the barbie for you.

No seriously, be good to have a Masters graduate debating in discussions, you have to be well read to get there.

Rifle, then pistol. Not very good with a shotgun. I started collecting vintage military rifles in the early 00's when they were cheap.

I've spent some time in the woods while holding a rifle, if you can count that hunting! Never did get into fishing, but I could give it another go.

Black. Preferably strong Irish Breakfast. But I'll take just about any standard tea. Green tea just tastes off to me.

If food's involved, you're on your way to full-fledged Baptist fellowship anyway, so watch out! ;)

Normal is just a setting on a dryer! I'm probably more aligned with GARBC now, as that was the primary fellowship of the churches I was involved with in CO. They have very little presence in my home state of MO, and effectively zero presence here in VA. Thankfully I'm not partisan when it comes to fellowships!

Well, comes with practice as with.

I started collecting vintage military rifles in the early 00's when they were cheap.

Don’t tell me. Swedish and German Mausers, and 03 Springfields. Perhaps an Enfield or two. You don’t sound like an SKS or Nagant man, that buys by the crate.

I've spent some time in the woods while holding a rifle, if you can count that hunting!

No, I really don’t. There is only one rule with hunting, always bring something home. Even if there is no medium to large game around, you have an abundance critters over there I really envy you guys for. Squirrels and raccoons apparently taste fantastic. A good 22lr bolt gun with a BDC scope will put more tonnage of meat on your table than anything else apart from trapping. Every man should really set himself up for opportunity meat. The way things are going, it might be prudent, you never know.

Never did get into fishing, but I could give it another go.

For fun, if I was there, I would just get a baitcaster for the bass.

But you have Big Muskys and Big catfish you can target for serious food. Catfish, all you need is heavy handlines with double snelled hooks on it, nothing simpler. Huge pile of meat.

Part of the disinclination for fishing and hunting is the botheration processing the animals. But if you are setup properly and have systems in place, this can be fast and painless.

I can process a fish in seconds, same with geese and ducks, totally fill the cooler or Engel with meat in no time. Even cryovacced clean, skinned, deboned fillets in the field when I have my genset with me. It’s all pan ready.

Don’t let this incredible blessing and abundance be wasted on you, not when there are people like me out here looking on.
Freedoms, the economy scale, cheap ammo, and fishing gear, traps and millions of succulent animals running around. Mate, if I was there. Honestly.

Good man.

I will, forewarned is forearmed.

He said he is Baptist, @Cathode . It's even in his name. You Catholics can't have him. We've called dibs. ;)

Green tea just tastes off to me.
If you boil your water for green tea, you will make it bitter. It’s still tea. Drop the temperature on your water about twenty or thirty degrees ( if it boils, wait ten minutes before adding the tea). I didn’t used to like it either until I accidentally discovered how to make it.
That doesn’t mean you will or have to like it. It is just a bit easier to like if it is made right.
Some people have to have it sour tasting. I don’t understand that.
