For starters, all, not most, American police shoot to center of mass "to stop the threat." It would take an idiot to shoot to injure.
Guns are for launching projectiles at high speed.

I’m not ashamed. What makes you think that? As far as I know, I have Irish and Choctaw Indian heritage, and probably others; but I am not Irish or Choctaw Indian. My “roots” are American and I am not ashamed that I am American.
America has a distinct cultural heritage based on freedoms and a sense of “rugged individualism” and personal responsibility. There are flaws to be sure, but there is no other place I’d rather live.
You should be proud of your heritage as well, wherever you are from, but don’t view Americans through the lens of England (or Russia if you are a Russian troll)

Can you really be that clueless? As a Brit, you should know better than to challenge our gun possession and not be thought an enemy. You are the prime reason we have the right, among others, to keep and bear arms enshrined in our Constitution. What do you mean might? They had the presidency and both houses for a couple of those years. They've had them all before. They have the House right now, giving them impeachment power. By hook or by crook, they are bent on having power.
It's terrible for the country when they wield power, because all they know is how to abuse, and they know that quite well. And of course they have very powerful propaganda media all the time. It's why you hear what you hear. And they're very good at it, which is why you believe what you believe.
