The same way with tithing--there is no sign in the New Testament that tells me that I no longer have to obey that law---Jesus never did away with that law--its still there in the pages of the Old Testament---the Old Testament law of tithing is in back of me as I journey down life's interstate but that doesn't mean I can do anything I please because I don't see any sign in the NT!
What else might fall under this little analogy? Gathering firewood on the 7th day-- a man who did that was executed for it; eating the Passover lamb; having the year of Jubilee; putting a suspected adulteress through a mortifying test.... None of these things are required in the NT, but none are specifically said to be unrequired [as circumcision is]; or, there is no sign on the highway changing their essentialness. THAT is the reason 'tithing' is a NT requirement?

I didn't know Jesus was one who spoke out of both sides of his mouth.
Amen! If I would have heard this lesson instead of "tithing will bless you" all the time, I may have learned how to be good steward a looong time ago!Originally posted by Deacon:
We shouldn't counsel someone in financial difficulty to tithe. We should counsel them on how to be responsible with their money. The way I see it is that we are stewards of all that God has given us. We just need to be good stewards.![]()
