I would suggest that anyone interested in the subject of the partisan press, look into the early decades and see how partisan the newspapers were in the formative years of the United States. Here is a good article on the subject:

You own your house. Trump doesn't own the White House. However, the question is not whether or not who he can invite. The issue is his preventing news media who do not report him favorably. He's restricting the news media by allowing only those who report on him favorably to attend. That's BS and you know it. If a Democrat were in the WH banned conservative news media from attending his press conferences, you would be raising a fit over it. Talk about hypocrisy.
They did and we do. So what? They are hypocrites. Trump is just following the precedent they set.
The national government takes care of the national highways and roads.

The respective state governments take of their state highways and roads.

The county governments take care of their roads.

The city governments take care of their roads.
that already happens. So we aren’t doing too badly.
So I don’t understand your position. It sounded to me like you thought that the government building roads is overstepping.

Now to brass tacks…
Where should the money come from?

Well, I think it is overstepping, but the horse is already out of the barn on that and pretty much 90% of what the national government involves itself in.

Taxes.
Well, I have good news for you. As far as the roads are concerned, it is going just the way you think it should, even though you don’t like it. It sounds to me like you are just not able to be satisfied.

But I agree that the government is overstepping in many areas.
