Own it? Sure. Revere it? Nah. Forgive me for not faulting the city council for not giving a crap about a bunch of white nationalists who can't get over losing a war.
Your ignorance of history is monumental. (See what I did there?)

The hatred displayed today in the city of Charlottesville is heart breaking. May God show grace and mercy to the victims of the senseless violence. There is a cancer in the heart of America that no protest can heal.
Don't mess with my Confederate history.

I believe you are too ignorant to have an adult conversation with.

Ironically, I have a history degree from VMI in which Lee has a little of a presence. :Wink I didn't make a comment about history. Unless the confederacy won the war and I've been living in the CSA all of my life.

Swing and a miss Tom.

You must not have learned much about history if you think white nationals are the only people who love Confederate history.

This coming from the military genius that wants to nuke North Korea.
Yep. Any other option will make the eventual resolution extremely unfavorable to us. Had this same thing happened under Reagan, the nukes would have already flown.

Which part of your Confederate history? The part that convinced poor whites to fight in a disastrous war on behalf of the plutocrats who benefited from slavery and told their "inferiors" that they shouldn't question the social order because they were at least better off, and better than, the negras held in bondage? Thanks; I'll pass on that.

The statue wasn't even erected until the 1920s, when Jim Crow was king and the second KKK was running rampant. That's the legacy that's being celebrated by the monument.

Good job Napolean. It's a good thing you aren't in charge.
Clinton handled N.Korea well. People like him and you want to push the resolution down the road so far that you will let him get advanced delivery system and hydrogen warheads.

<Sigh> I don't know why I keep trying. It has become terribly obvious nobody on the BB has a sense of humor, and everybody takes themselves way too seriously.

True. The monument joke was clever but it's low hanging fruit Tom. What if I admit to smirking a little reading your pun.

The legacy being celebrated by the monument is the resistance of tyranny.

Really? So holding people in slavery isn't tyranny? And that's the rabbit hole some folks want to go down.

By your heroes the KKK and the Neonazis. That is the side you are choosing. Get out of here with that.
There are many people other than KKK and Nazis who love Confederate heritage. You have a screwed up sense of reality.

Seeing is believing. I live in a reality in the year 2017 in a United States of America. What I'm seeing in Charlottesville is something I have no desire to see return.
