SheEagle...it must be all the emphasis on physical exercise..........we insist on stretching,,,,stretching,,,stretching.

Sometime we are so eager to present something new we stretch to do it.

Cheers,

Jim

Helen, is there a passage or passages that says the priests of the tabernacle were supposed to wear long hair? I am familiar with those that discuss cuttings in the beard, but I don't recall reading that they were not to cut their hair.

It was taught in Baptist churches in the last 50 years in the area in which I grew up. I don't remember anyone questioning it until the rock, rebellion, hippies, etc. of the 60's & 70's. But the teaching against long hair on men could not long survive - the churches had already caved on the corresponding teaching against short hair on women many years before. It's hard to hold one without the other. Historically, one can find Baptists that have practiced both extremes. Nevertheless, the Bible, not Baptist practice, is the standard for determining what is correct.

Dear SheEagele,
To answer your question about gray hair, I think Proverbs 16:31 has the answer. There is even a lovely women's magazine entitled, "Crowned with Silver." www.crownedwithsilver.com

I am certainly no Pastor, but when my Pastor went over these verses he told us he was very nervous, walking on eggshells was the term he used.

And at the end he allowed for comments and there were some from naysaysers.

I think some Pastors are reticent because of the reaction they would recieve from it in this modern culture. Many women find the thought of wearing a headcovering very demeaning to modern women.

And add that feminism has also made many inroads into the Body of Christ as well.

I have not been following this thread recently, be-
cause I am questioning this for myself and
choose not to have the influences of opinions.
However, I got on this morning just to read the
latest notes.

It was mentioned that the nazirite vow is not in
the Apostolic Writings, but it is. Paul had, him-
self, made a nazirite vow, as indicated in Acts
21:17 - 26. Earlier, it was mentioned that Paul
had shaved his head, as was done at the start
of a nazirite vow. Then the other leaders told
him that it was being said that he (Paul) was
teaching other Jews to turn from the Law.

Paul was advised to join with the four young
men, who had also taken a nazirite vow, go with
them to the Temple, and pay their expenses for
this. He did.

When the nazirite vow is taken, a sacrifice must
be made, the hair's new growth cut, and the cut-
tings placed upon the altar.

So you think that every person who get some illness is afflicted by God? I don't see that in scripture.

This thread is degenerating quickly, with inflaming posts that are not honoring our Lord.

I am going to stop it now. And just letting you know that when I write the report card at semester, I am going to put "does not play well with others" on it.

IF someone feels it needful to open a thread focused on this topic, feel free. But it will be moderated. Thank you.
