Hank Hanegraaff Converts to Greek Orthodox

I have just yesterday found out that "the Bible Answer Man", Hank Hanegraaff has left Evangelical Christianity, and converted to the Greek Orthodox church last month.I understand that others have also done this. From a search on the Internet, it seems that this denomination's teaching on salvation, is not what the Bible teaches. Why would any person do this?

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Pride, and not really understanding the Bible!
Same reason some come back to "mother church" of Rome!

Mr. Hanegraaff had more theological hangups than a dry cleaner.

You'd think someone with the title "Bible Answer Man" would have a good understanding of the Bible.

You'd think. I think, technically, he never had the title, he was merely host of the Bible Answer Man program founded by Walter Martin (the original Bible Answer Man). I used to listen to Hank back when Ron Rhodes and Eliot Miller were co-hosts. The show was good back then. When Hank started flying solo is when the show lost a lot of steam. I noticed he was off on a whole bunch of things. In fact, he was downright rude to his co-hosts and eventually pushed them out of the picture. I'm pretty sure most of the shows fan base from the 90s moved on.

I'd love to see Ron Rhodes and Eliot Miller make a comeback. Or some new blood, but Hank ruined the program.

His view on Eschatology is very suspect! and now i am assuming that his views on salvation are called into question now!

He sees basically everything already happened AD 70....

My understanding is, most modern postmillennialists are preterists. The views seem to go hand in hand. This is per Dr. Timothy Paul Jones who does a four views series. But he says historical premillennialists, like Calvin and Edwards were not preterists.

I'm open to correction this.

Would say that most are partial pretierists, and that Calvin was A mil, like most reformers, but historical premil was also held by some prominent ones!

I'll take your word for it. In our series, they cited Calvin as Postmill.

So your saying Hank is embracing the full preterism heresy? That Christ already returned? I don't think the Orthodox subscribe to that.

They don't. They believe the second coming will bring about the consummation of the ages. They are, therefore, amil.
