For something a bit different, I wanted to pass on the comments of the Rev. John Cherry of Tulsa, whom I saw on TV briefly last weekend. Mr. Cherry said he didn't attend preachers' meetings because he was tired of the materialism displayed and hearing the pastors talk about how many cars "they" had and what kind of planes "they" had.

He said he'd been criticized for his views.

"You ought to not be talking about my pastor like that," he said one woman had told him.

"I haven't called your pastor's name ... yet," he replied.

Well, I thought TBN was bad, but Mike Murdock on Inspiration appears to outdo even them.

Letter after letter from viewers who "sowed" $1,000 and recieved raises, commissions, legal settlements, etc.

If you sow, "God has just been repositioned." So much for sovereignty, eh?

He's looking for 300 people who will "sow" $1,000 each; I'm sure he'll return the money from No. 301, etc.

Touches of WoF: Somebody watching me is involved in a lawsuit (duh, given the litigiousness of modern society) and giving the "seed" can "reverse it in your favor."

BTW: He's offering his special commentary for contributors, a volume that's "not available in stores." Because no one would actually spend money on it unless it was accompanied by a promise of a 100-fold return, maybe?

I was watching TBN while in the hotel room over in Jacksonville--there was this young guy--forgive me, I didn't get his name--some church over near Houston, TX--anyway, he's preachin' on the mind and mind messages "You become what you think!" blah, blah, blah--anyway--he told the illustration of this man working over in a railroad yard who gets locked inside a refrigarated boxcar--get the picture now--the car is locked on the outside, noone knows he's there, and it starts gettin' chilly--he realizes he's locked inside this car and he starts thinkin' "I'm gonna freeze in here! Dear Lord, I'm gonna freeze to death before they find me!" over and over he tells himself he's gonna freeze to death--"I'm gonna freeze to death! I'm gonna freeze to death!" His mind it sending a signal to his body--"I'm freezin'!"

Well, sure enough he freezes--hard as an icecube--his buddies unlatch the door and find him there the next morning--froze harder than a Siberian lake--they look over on the railcar's refrigerator's thermostate and it reads "Sixty One degrees!"

Get it? His mind told his body he was freezin'--and he froze like he was in winter wonderland there in Siberia!! But the theromstat reads 61 degrees--you become what you think!!

I believe TBN ought to be filtered!! So I went to the Pastor's Conference--heard some real preachin'--

We have this thing called freedom of speech!

From a Religious view of your statement, do you think that Paul Crouch should be burned at the stake? Should he be put in front of a firing squad?
What do you mean by "
filtered."
Who would you suggest to be the person to filter TBN?
If you don't like TBN why were you watching the channel. Do Jacksonville Florida motels not have remote controls?

I do find some of the things preachers say utterly ridiculus--how in the world do you freeze in a boxcar with a climate control devise registering sixty one degrees---??? I would be peeling my sweater off at that temp--and beside the fact--there are things one can do to keep oneself warm---start off with jumpin' jacks and move on from there--

I thought Paul Crouch may have been the person that you would suggest as a person to filter TBN since he is president.
Who would you suggest as the person to Filter TBN?

The only filter I have is the word of God--what I call "Plumb Bob Jesus"--I hold what the TBN'ers say up next to scripture--if it don't square up--its rejected--that's the filter I would use! After a while--when things don't square up with scripture--lets go fish in another lake--in other words--flip the channel--

Don't know where everyone is on this thread, but wanted to put my 2 cents worth in.

A friend of mine who is of the Brethren in the United Pentecostal Church in Indiana wrote me to tell me a very sad story.

She told me that a few weeks earlier her SISTER had taken their little boy to see Benny Hinn and see if he could heal him.

He had a very rare case of leukemia and was told that he could survive if he was treated with a very rigorous schedule of treatments and possible bone marrow transplantation.

When they went to Benny Hinn he told them that their son IS healed and not to take him to the doctor anymore. He said that he did not need cancer treatments anymore because he IS healed.

3 weeks later my friends nephew died.

The parents went back to see Benny Hinn and told him of their son's tragic death.

His response sickens me.

He said "Your son died because of your lack of faith"

Benny Hinn IS NOT an instrument of God. He is a demonic controlled, money grubbing, evil, false, perverse man, that has misled and used probably millions of people.

He is a virus.

There are several documented cases of people dying after being "healed" at a Benny Hinn show.

I really wish somebody would sue this guy and shut him down so that this doesn't happen again.

It's one thing to debate his false doctrine but he's playing with people's lives and they're dying, all for the sake of show business.

I don't think God considers false doctrine and false prophecies to be covered by the First Amendment.

Well, its pledge time on TBN, so it's time to resurrect the thread.

There was a touching video of Paul Crouch establishing new TV stations, meeting with heads of state, all to the music of Classical Gas.

I will make no further comment on that.

But I have been reassured by a preacher who dedicated to giving to TBN. Guess what? His pension is fully paid for, as is his house. I am preparing to write my check right now ... but I'm also watching the Inspiration Network to see if they'll give me a better deal ...

Marilyn Hickey was the undisputed master at hocking off trinkets, thankfully though her show is off the air here now.

We still have the other 3 rings of the circus on TV Hinn/Copeland/Meyer, thankfully they are on very early in the morning so hopefully not too many are on the receiving end of their garbage.

rsr, put away that cheque-book. While you could "sow financially into their ministry, become a partner with them, and reap the benefits thereof"...It is really a lot quicker to follow their other teachings and just name it, claim it, and frame it
