Hey! You Can Hear Me Worldwide on the Radio!!!!

I want let you know about something quite special in my life. I am now a disc jockey on an Internet-based radio station. The radio station is Worldwide Bluegrass, the W-W-B, at http://worldwidebluegrass.com. My show is called "Sunrise Bluegrass" and it airs live each Saturday morning from 8:00-11:00 a.m Eastern Time (7:00-10:00 a.m. Central Time). My first show was on December 6 and I have mentioned my show in the signature in my posts, but I didn't spread the word as I wanted to make sure I got past any technical difficulties first. Everything worked out fine.

Here is my bio page: www.worldwidebluegrass.com/bio171.html

The only problem I am having is trying to stay connected to the chat room(the DJ oversees the chat room during the show). It uses Java and I guess I haven't come up with the right settings to stay connected more than a few minutes at a time even though I have worked at it a lot. It doesn't bother the show going out over the Internet, but I'll keep working on it and maybe one day I won't have to reconnect every few minutes. Even though I may miss some posts in the chat room due to this problem I can receive emails about the show any time at ken@worldwidebluegrass.com.

There are rules as to how often an artist or cuts from an album can be played, but I try to play a lot of Alison Krauss & Union Station, Rhonda Vincent, the Gibson Brothers, Norman Blake, Cherryholmes, and a new artist named Marcie Horne who has a great voice and some fantastic ballads on her debut album. I play probably around 40-45 songs(depending on how much I gab :) ) with a mix of new releases, gospel bluegrass, and classic bluegrass.

I hope you can tune in from time to time and see how I am doing in my new endeavor and listen to some great music.

Ken

Be sure to record some airchecks...your breaks with the songs cut out...as demos. Who knows, this could be a stepping stone to a new career in broadcasting.

Congrats Ken, I will listen if I can remember it...

BTW, you all know that I don't care much for bluegrass... especially banjos.... (Prolly because I am not talented enough to play one)
So when I got my Deering Banjo catalog in mail the other day, I died laughing...

I finally found the perfect banjo!!!

For the person who has everything! Goodtime Necks that didn’t pass muster at QC are matched with Resonators for the perfect clean up tool for banjo players! The hole for the Geared Fifth peg is filled with a dowel to hold the broom so you can have a Goodtime Cleaning Up!

I hope you take this in the light hearted manner I meant it.. .

Remember, tt, not all music played on bluegrass station has a banjo in it. There will be several songs that I will play this Saturday morning that don't have a banjo in them. That's why shows like mine are sometimes referred to as bluegrass/acoustic oldtime country.

By the way, that's a funny dustpan.

I will try to catch it tomorrow...

BTW, my youngest son loves bluegrass, and although he is taking piano lessons.. he also likes the banjo!...

I had to get him some bluegrass songs for his mp3 player...

Do you take requests?

I love the song "Windy and Warm" by Doc Watson

Hey, that's great, Ken! Hope it goes well for you. Have you personally recorded any songs that you will broadcast? I thought you played bluegrass?

Yes. :)

However, I don't have access to the station's library of songs yet(they want to make sure that new DJs are going to make a go of it), so I am limited to about 800 songs in my personal collection at the moment.

I am just learning how to play guitar so, no, I haven't recorded any songs.

Maybe in a couple of years. :)

I don't know what songs you have available but if you have the Seldom Scene's"
"Heal it", I would like for you to spin it.
I caught the program near the end today. Just didn't think of it in time. Is this station, all bluegrass?

Yes, it is all bluegrass.

However, I have heard a few songs when the stream is playing when there isn't a live show on that weren't exactly close to the usual definition of bluegrass.

I don't have that Seldom Scene song but I did play a song from their "Scene It All" album, "Dusty", this morning.

Yes, I do, LeBuick. I should be playing that song this next Saturday. That is the song that converted me to bluegrass music. :)
