I think that was the most offensive comment I have ever read on the BB. If that's not judging others, I don't know what is.

How about all the false religions like, JW's, Mormons, ect.ect. that only use the KJV? What's their excuse? Can't blame their heresies on other versions.

Sorry, I had to vent. That really made me mad. I expect an apology.
I was offended by it as well and I too expect an apology from Npetreley.

Music is not amoral.

This discussion has been done to death. From my study and experience, music in and of itself is neither moral or amoral. The use of the music gives it its morality.

Could not music and/or "style" issues be "Meat sacrificed to idols?" I believe so.

I've seen on this board that we really need to "agree to disagree" on this issue.

Because Jesus did...
He didn't use the underlying Hebrew of the KJV...

You should quote your article about how Jesus did not use the KJV. I thought that was extremely well done, and a good use of scripture to demonstrate the point.

I'd be glad to apologize. I'm truly sorry that you believe people who use other versions than KJV are lascivious.

More Stupidity

Jesus did not use a version. He was the Word that came down from heaven and dwelt among men.

You say Jesus did not use the KJV... I submit to you He did not use the NIV, NASB, HCSB, ESV, ERV, Douay-Rheims, nor any other MV on the market.
Well, if you look at it that way, the KJV is a MV. Let me tell you the dirty little secret of KJVism, it does not correct ANYTHING! It is simply a translation that was never ment to be worshipped as it is done today. There is not one verse of scripture to support one translation over another, nor is there one verse of scripture to support one style of worship over another. The NT church worship was vastly different from the OT style of worship.

Quit blindly marching to irrelevance and wake up to reach the culture you are in. If they respond well to the KJV then use it. If they respond well to the ESV or NKJV or CEV or whatever, then use that! Use what God makes available and useful. There is not one verse of scripture to support any version perference or worship style. GET OVER IT!!!

1. Have we ever asked ourselves, "What Eternal value do all of these things we fuss about really have?"

2. I expect Jesus to sit us all down and say, "You were fussing about the wrong things."

Scriptures Please

You do not have one verse of scriptural foundtion for that statement. Please provide your scripture references. When you are unable to, please kindly recant you statement.

Can you provide scripture for the kinds of music God dislikes? I want to avoid that music.

For the record, I do not even like contemporary praise and worship music, let alone rap, hip hop, etc. I prefer hymns. But my problem with contemporary praise and worship has nothing to do with the style of music. It is that the lyrics are usually superficial and sappy emotional crud rather than edifying Biblical themes. That, and I object to singing lyrics like "In all I do, I honor you." I don't honor God in all I do. I wish I did, and I would be glad to sing, "I want to honor you in all I do." But I'm not going to sing lies.

And I'm truly sorry that you believe people who hold to the KJV think they're "holier than thou" and "legalists". There, now we're all made up

Would you please illuminate me as to which styles God likes and doesn't like? Are there particular melodic intervals, rhythms, harmonies that should be avoided. Does God like chant? Why or why not? Southern Gospel? Symphonic literature, choral literature, folk music, African, Asian, Polynesian, etc. tribal musics? Please be specific.

I am assuming that any texts associated with these are true to scripture and the intended mood for the intended service/meeting/rally.

Thank you for your assistance.

(Apologies for the sarcasm)

There is nothing to appologize for! If the statement offended you then it was most likely the truth convicting your heart.

The other cults that continue to use the KJV add to scripture or completely misinterpret scripture based on their bend, no matter what translation they use.

Not to continue derailing the thread, but how come when someone bashes and begins labeling those who use the KJV only or most of the time, no one condemns their comments and asks for the statement to be retracted, but when someone begins to defend themselves from the unsolicited attack, they are bashed for what they said. Double standard?

I suppose the music satan makes today (lyrics not included) is amoral as well.

There is indeed a type of music that God dislikes. If it were amoral, then God would dislike all music, or else He would like all music.

But which music doesn't God like? Which time signatures, key signatures, chords and/or notes does God dislike?

Your then doesn't follow from your if. Try this one on. If music were amoral, then God would like or dislike how we use it.

What music is satan making today, and what record label does he record with? Does he prefer one instrument over another, like electric guitars over acoustic? And how do you know so much about satan's music and his preferences?

When you use the word "cult", do you mean...

Cult (k?lt) n .[F. culte, L. cultus care, culture, fr. colere to cultivate. Cf. Cultus.]

1. Attentive care; homage; worship.
...
2. A system of religious belief and worship.

(Source: Webster's 1913)

...or do you have another definition in mind?

This would be a use or purpose issue (content) not the music itself (style).
