Based on what I saw in that video, the incident was over as soon as the kid dropped to the ground and stopped moving. The physical attack by the officers, in my opinion, was unwarranted. Unfortunately, in my experience in such matters, it appears that adrenaline got the better of them.

Why did the prosecution decide to charge them with "official oppression"? Of course the officer was going to be found not guilty. There was nothing oppressive about what the officers did; it was excessive force, plain and simple.

Agreed. Houston has a district attorney that is just as corrupt as those officers. The only good thing about this is that the Chief of police came out during the trial and openly he should have been charged with a felony instead of a misdemeanor.
Since this current District attorney has taken office there has been several cases of police wrong doing and she turns her head. However not all the blame is on her since this did go to a jury. They hold as much responsibility as she does in this injustice if not more as they saw the video also.
He was given the top attorney in the area and the guy is very good at getting people off. A few years ago he got a guy off who was charged with capitol murder who had murdered his room mate cut him up in pieces and tried to discard of him. The jury found him not guilty as he claimed it was an accident while they were wrestling for a gun.

That is my understanding as well as most or all the rest involved.I cannot remember if it was all or most.

How about the perp?

He too must be ex-military given his level of agressive behavior in not immediately surrendering to the police when told to stop.

Wouldn't you agree?

I assume you have not watched the video.

I did watch it and there certainly are a lot of police cars on the scene and the perp was finally stopped when he was hit by a police car.

That doesn't look like a passive person quietly surrendering to the police when told to stop.

It looks like an agressive person fleeing in the face of authority.

So what do you think - given the perp's level of agression in fleeing would you say that he too is ex-military - based on your theory that military personnel are brainwashed into being very agressive?

Well then you could not have possibly have watched the right video as he was assaulted after he surrendered and even the Chief of police and the Mayor agree. That is why he was fired and will never again be on the force according to the Mayor.

Yes, I watched the video.

He did not surrender at all.

He was hit by the police car and knocked to the ground where he was then apprehended.

Do you think that he was just calmly walking down a street filled with police cars with flashers spinning until he was hit by a police car for no reason what so ever?

Please provide source material showing that any of the ex-officers were prior military. I've read no less than 10 different articles on this subject, dating back to Feb 2011, and I found no references to any of the officers being identified as prior military. Only two named officers in the articles I found; one with a muslim sounding name. One 37-year training officer who found fault with how the officers treated the suspect; but his 37 years was with the police academy, not military.

Either provide the proof that at least one of the officers involved was prior military, or provide a retraction. If you don't, then basically, you're guilty of unrepentent lying about military members.

BTW: the link has changed to pictures of the trial. The video has been removed; but can be found if you do a search on the subject.

No retraction. If you want proof search for it. Write the Chronicle or someone at the police dept. or what ever. I think it came from a news a TV new report but I cannot remember.By the way you have been reported.

Are you kidding?

He was knocked to the ground by the police car and then a bunch of cops pinned him to the ground.

When did this "surrender" occur?

When he was in cuffs in the back of a squad car?

He was apprehended - he did not surrender.

What Don has done is challenge you. You're the one making the charge. It is up to you to give the evidence for your claim not Don. He has all ready given evidence for his position in his first paragraph.

Now his statement about "unrepentant lying" a bit over the top.

You are insane. You are obviously biased. The man in the video very obviously rolls onto his stomach, and places his hands on his head. Not once, through the ENTIRE video, does the young man move a single time. Not once does he raise a hand.

These police deserve to be fired, and jailed. HOW DARE they do this, and HOW DARE you defend them.

They were fired, but the first one to be prosecuted for a misdemeanor was found not guilty today. :( Houston is not far behind LA in corruption.
