How did the Modern KJVO Movement Get Started?

Paidagogos:By what authority are you anti-KJVO?
By the authority of God, which He gives the Christian to fight the things of the devil. The entire book of Titus is a good starter for proof of such authority. I know Paul, who had great authority from Jesus, passed some of this authority directly to Titus, but his directives to the Roman Titus are also meant for us today.

Where is your Scriptural proof?

I have posted it many times, and Archangel 7 has posted it again in this thread. A comparison of Acts 8:26-35 to Isaiah 53:7-8 and of Luke 4:16-21 to Isaiah 42:8 and Isaiah 61:1-3 shows that the apostle Philip, and JESUS HIMSELF-the Word-were NOT limited to just one version of the OT Scriptures, nor were the ordinary Jews of that time & place. If JESUS HIMSELF wasn't so limited, why should WE be? The argument that Jesus could change the Scriptures any time He pleased won't work. He was reading to a skeptical crowd who didn't know who He really was, and who'd've gone ballistic had He altered one peep of what was written.


I am astounded at your confidence in your own reasoning and delusions....uh.......I mean conclusions. Have at it! It's a stress-breaker (i.e. comic relief) for me to read your posts. Just thought I that I would put in a plug for the little lady whom you tried to run over.

I said I was going to bed last night, as I would be going in to work at 3 PM TODAY-and that I would be working till 7AM TOMORROW MORNING. Right now it's 10:55 AM Saturday morn, March 6, 2004. I shall work until 7AM, Sunday morn, March 7, 2004. From 3PM TODAY till 7 AM TOMORROW is sixteen hours. As I type this post, my workday hasn't started yet.

I've only seen that joke taken seriously taken and spread by Bible doubters such as yourself.

Now if you can provide rock solid evidence (you know what that is I hope) that such a statment was made in full seriousness by a Bible beleiver, then that is a different story. So far though, your camp has yet to provide such.

Of course the mv cry of "give us the next version off the presses" is so much better isn't it? (yes I know that none of you have said any such thing)

What facts, Jim? You and Skan, in your zeals to attack me, have completely ignored what Dr. Bob placed in the title of this thread-MODERNOnlyism. While I appreciate Skan's info concerning earlier Onlyism, that is not the beginnings of the CURRENT myth, any more than soccer was the beginnings of modern American & Canadian football.

He would rather hold to a myth that has been refuted and exposed as false so many times that it would be comical if not so sad.

Jim, this is the umpteenth time you've repeated your silly little reversal of the fact that it's the KJVO who has the myth. All I and other like-minded people do is reject the KJVO myth for lack of evidence. We did NOT create a new doctrine about Scripture as the KJVO did. The KJVO just CANNOT meet the burden of proof to justify his/her myth.

Sadly, I've seen this time and again from him. What he should do is get out of the Bible debate, and stick with something he knows something about, that would be cult ministry.

It's been sadly for you, all right-You haven't been able to present one scintilla of evidence to support the KJVO myth.

Dr. Bob-In defense of Jim, what he's referring to by "cult ministry" are my detailed and quite vitriolic attacks upon cult ministries such as LDS, JW, & SDA in other forums. I don't think he's implying that I'm a cult minister. However, I snipped something from Jim's first paragraph I pasted, that you may choose to remove from his original post, & that I didn't wanna repeat.

That is exactly my reason for liking the KJV so much. The beautiful and formal English used in the translation is like art. But, when it comes to studying God's for detailed content, I must read a translation that is in my language.

I may have not seen quite as much as you have, but in my 46 years in SBC churches (from the first week I was born) until now, I do not recall ANY KJVO stuff----even when I was a kid-- by some of the traveling evangelists who preached revivals, but that I thought were a little weird in their theology. (including the one who brought fifteen bottles of different types of booze into the church to "show" us what the "enemy" looked like.)

I DO actually have a CD which has the entire KJV 1611 version on it. If anybody would like to try to read it, I'll make each copy for about 6 bucks (to cover my time, packaging and mailing, etc.) I'm not trying to make any profit off this. It is all in Microsoft Word format, but each page is actually an embedded photograph. If you don't have Word, it will pull up in WordPerfect, or you can download a free reader from Microsoft.

By the way, this is in the public domain now. For all of you KJVO folks that like to gripe about the NIV having a copyright---FYI, the KJV contained a copyright when it was written and it was broken by immigrants in the "New World" who did not abide by the laws of England.

OH, I almost forgot, this AV1611 contains the complete translation, including a few odd books called first and second Esdras, Tobit, Judeth and a few other books that I just can't seem to find in my KJV-----hmmmmmmm STRANGE, I wonder what "human" decided to edit out those books from "the only English translation which was inspired?"
