What is truly important is HOW GOD SEES US, not how man thinks himself to be!

God looked at his creation and called it VERY GOOD! An man has sinfully been accepting the deceit from the Father of Lies, that man is no good, rotten to the core, etc., etc., etc.

If man was truly as bad as man says man is, then God would certainly not have any interest in us. But we see from Cover to Cover in our modern bibles the unfolding story of God's redemption plan for man. Redemption because we have failed to remain what God made us due to sin. I believe that if an untainted Adam were to stand in our midst, there would be NO DIFFERENCE in us, except our sin!

It is because we sin that God Gave his only begotten son to die for our sins, to pay the penalty ONCE for all of us from Adam henceforth.

God does not see us as "Totally depraved" "unable to hear and respond", etc., that morally decrept Calvin depicted us as being.

The Holy Spirit tells me that God loves me so much that He has done everything for me to be redeemed and all that is left for me to do is believe in Him and gives me Everlasting life.

Well sir, it really is a shame that you cannot see the truth in the scriptures. But like you want to believe about yourself, you are simply not able, totally depraved, etc.

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord! (someone famous said that)

So, really, your God did not 'do everything' for you to be redeemed. Right? :rolleyes:


Well, my God, the God of Scriptures, the God who so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son to die in my place, did do everything.

Did he beleive for me? No. He quickened my dead spirit and enabled me to believe that God came in the flesh and laid down his life for my redemption.

He was resurrected for my justification also, imagine that...there is nothing that I have done that has given to me a merit to eternal life, no sir, no-thing.

Now that is scripture

And what did Abraham answer?

In conjunction with this read the agreement to this found at Hebrews 1.3

'...when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;'

Where is the lamb? Who is he?

From my correspondance with you on this board, here are some things I have learned about your views of the Bible, God, man, and the gospel (and please correct me if I am wrong)

1. Some portions of Paul are written from the perspective of a depressed fallible man (ie Romans 7, 1 Corinthians 2), therefore some verses should not be taken literally (I guess up to your discretion.

2. We are similar to pre Fall Adam.

3. God can't give people faith.

4. God wants to save people that he cannot.

5. People can obey the command of Matt. 5:48

Wow, you are consistent in your sad Biblical intrepretation. A few posts above, I ventured into what your view of the Psalms might be. A few minutes ago I read through some of the posts on the Sinful at Birth thread, and here is what you wrote:

" I'm Not convinced that David was an authority on sin, he knew how to do it obviously, But it takes more than quoting him to convince me of his authority. He was a master at prose however, excelling at lyrics. So to base your doctrine on the Psalms is like putting your treasure in a leaky boat and setting sail on the high seas. "

I have never met an evangelical who holds such a defficient view of Scripture as you do. I hope that you are not in a pulpit. :(

You can believe what you want BBNEWTON...OOPS! Forgive me, You can only believe what God has enabled you to believe through "regeneration"...Right? Therefore, it is not unexpected that you would be so limited in your understanding as to take the bible as a whole, "lock, stock n barrel"! Your corrupted view of man which comes from other corrupted men, keeps you from being able to see God's view of the man that HE MADE in HIS IMAGE and called VERY GOOD! Notice that I did not say PERFECT!, or HOLY!, or SINLESS!, or All powerful, All knowing, etc., but simply what God called...VERY GOOD!

We are exactly what God made us to be! But of course you cannot see that because you are too busy accepting the opinions of men, that just happen to be included in the Scriptures called the Holy Bible.

Now before you go blowin' yer cookies, I have the utmost love and respect for the Holy Scriptures because they reveal God to man. They reveal God's plan of salvation which is redemption of sinful man from the death that sin brings, and restoring man to his rightful relationship with the Holiest and Purest eternal being that ever existed, that exists, and that shall exist, Holy GOD!

The fact that you don't like the way I explain the message contained in the bible is your problem and not mine.

Now if you'll climb down out of your bully pulpit attempting to analyze me, we can get on with discussing those wonderful scriptures.

I am trying to discuss Scripture and doctrine with you, but here are some of your responses:


1. Your response to my comments on Romans 7:18:

"When one is depressed, for whatever reason, one is not thinking clealy or rationally. Paul was a mere mortal just like all the rest of us. As we have our ups and downs, Paul had his. You can see that throughout his writings. When in prison, or some other oppressive situation, Paul is much harder on himself than when he is free and doing what he loves to do...Just like us! So don't take everything Paul wrote so literally! When you do, you come to wrong conclusions! No one stays at the top of their game all the time."


2. Your reponse to my comments on 1 Cor. 2:14:

"So it matters little what Paul said on the matter, Jesus is the authority on what God gave to man, and not Paul... The Whole word of God does not agree 100% with Paul and neither do I, especially where Deity has already spoken on the issue that Paul is attempting to explain."


3. In reponse to Psalm 51:5:

Yelsew, your handling of Scripture in an effort to defend your theology is a direct attack on God's Word.

Cornered? Don't think so highly of yourself bbnewton! It takes more than what You'll ever have to corner me!

David was also a murderer, and an adulterer, and most likely a fornicator, among other things! He had peaks and valleys just like you and I, he had bouts of open fear of his enemies, and he had times of carefree abandon! HE WAS NO DIFFERENT THAN YOU AND I, except that God used him differently than God is using you and I. God took the lowly shepherd boy and made him a King! While a shepherd boy, David was a man after God's own heart! As a King he commited adultery with his neighbor's wife then murdered his neighbor and kept the wife.

Paul was a conspirator to murder if not the murderer himself, he was an Accomplice. Paul was a religious zealot! Paul was a Convict, a prisoner, etc. Paul was a man on the run from time to time eluding the "authorities" at the behest of his disciples.

How easily you neglect that these were mere men like unto yourself and me. God uses ordinary men to accomplish extraordinary feats. He does not change the men from what they are in their natural form, he changes their spirit from wanting to sin to wanting to worship!

Don't let your high-n-mighty, lofty thoughts blur your spiritual vision. We are all mere mortals in need of salvation! Sinful but not Totally depraved. We are the prize that Jesus died to ransom from the clutches of the Father of lies and the very pits of hell.

God looks "FAVORABLY" (gives us his Grace) upon us, because HE thinks we are worth saving, but he does not save those who lack faith in HIM.

Men wrote the books of the bible. They wrote from Peaks and from valleys, they wrote from hilltops and from prisons, the wrote from "out of body experiences, as well as all their whole body experiences. They were mere men that God the Son chose to do His will.

Men compiled those books into the bible. There are probably hundreds of writings that could have been included in the bible, but a committee of men that were most likely under the direct influence of the Holy Spirit pulled those writings together and called it, "THE HOLY BIBLE". We have no knowledge of any of these men's natural lives, but it is safe to say that they were sinners, for "all have sinned".

The prophets are said to "speak the Word of God"
The Apostles wrote some of the words of God the Son down for All subsequent ages to read.
The Apostles also taught the Christian Lifestyle.

Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are the books of the bible that are called by most scholars, the Gospel or "the Good News", the rest of the writings are the lifestyle and history books associated with the "living Gospel"

Greater men than I have stood the test that you are attempting to subject me too BBNewton, so go ahead and beat your head against the rocks, you'll not break me! You ain't got what it takes!

Iowa's season is always open; this place is the rough fish capitol of the world. Got the license, but the fish don't usually start feeding heavily for another couple of weeks:) How's the lone star state?
