we are to test and examine our faith/salvation...

"examine yourselves, whether ye be in the fiath; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?"

Christ died once for my salvation and that is all thats needed for your salvation.

True salvation is a 1 time thing.

    John 3:16-18
    Ephesians 2:8-10

And verse 10 in Ephesians 2:8-10 is how you know someone is saved.

Brothers and Sisters we must walk in the good works. We must show the world we are set apart we are the redeemed. The way to do that is walk the walk and talk the talk.

I preached a sermon on this very subject!

To answer the OP only 1 time on Feb. 12, 2002 in a jail cell in small town in Kansas. That day I devoted my life to spreading the gospel. I don't know what time it was because I didn't have a watch or a clock but it was after lights out.

Well, it seems like most of us are in full agreement. Christ died one time for our sins. That is the sins before we were saved, and all sins after our new birth. There will be no other death for sins. One Death...One New Birth. That's it.

We have yet to hear from anyone that believes one can lose their salvation and has more then one salvation births. This could mean many things.

I feel the book of Hebrews is one of the best books to address this subect.

    In Christ...James

I would not claim "I am saved".

Mt:26:35: Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.

The evil that led to Peter's fall and that shut out the Pharisee from communion with God is proving the ruin of thousands today. There is nothing so offensive to God or so dangerous to the human soul as pride and self-sufficiency. Of all sins it is the most hopeless, the most incurable.

Peter's fall was not instantaneous, but gradual. Self-confidence led him to the belief that he was saved, and step after step was taken in the downward path, until he could deny his Master. Never can we safely put confidence in self or feel, this side of heaven, that we are secure against temptation. Those who accept the Saviour, however sincere their conversion, should never be taught to say or to feel that they are saved. This is misleading. Every one should be taught to cherish hope and faith; but even when we give ourselves to Christ and know that He accepts us, we are not beyond the reach of temptation. God's word declares, "Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried." Dan. 12:10. Only he who endures the trial will receive the crown of life. (James 1:12.)
Those who accept Christ, and in their first confidence say, I am saved, are in danger of trusting to themselves. They lose sight of their own weakness and their constant need of divine strength. They are unprepared for Satan's devices, and under temptation many, like Peter, fall into the very depths of sin. We are admonished, "Let him that thinketh he standeth, take heed lest he fall." 1 Cor. 10:12. Our only safety is in constant distrust of self, and dependence on Christ.

    Claudia,

There are 2 states of mankind. The saved and the unsaved or lost.

If you are not saved..as you have said.

"now is the day of salvation"

    Luke 19:
9And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.

10For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

    2 Corinthians 6:2
(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

    Why not today?

    James,

Its not that I dont think I am "saved" so to speak, its just that I think of Bible passages like the one where it says something like that we were grafted in and we can be grafted out (I cant recall the exact words)..

But the idea is that we should not be so haughty as to think like the Pharisees who went around thinking they were "God's chosen ones" and were the sons of Abraham.. The viewed themselves as the favorites of God and didnt think that God would ever be against them.

Its hard to put ito words what I mean, exactly. And Im not saying anything bad about anyone else here who regards themselves as "saved".

I guess I have fallen into various sins that I never even thought possible and so it taught me to realize that I am weak and liable to fall.

    Hi Claudia,

    You post...

Where was Peter that he fell? Are you saying Peter was saved before this and then fell out of salvation?

    You said..
Sins are only rated by man. To murder is very bad in mans eyes, yet to God it is in the same area as lying. Also, the number of sins to man matters. If i sinned one time, to mankind I just slipped and they forgive fairly easy. If I sin over and over..i'm looked at as a dirty rotten no good for nothing sinner my man, yet to God both the one time sinner and the many time sinner are just sinners.

Who did God save..the rich youg ruler that kept the law..or was it Paul that killed believers?

    You said..
Again..for peter to be going down..step by step....where is the place above that he came from?

    You said..
So you have no idea with your faith if Paul is in heaven?
    How about John?
    Mark?
    David?

Your not really sure if anyone made it there..for they may have lost their salvation before they died..that is..in your faith.

"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, (((nor any other creature))), SHALL BE ABLE TO SEPARATE US from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38

"My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand." John 10:29

Look back at Romans 8:38...nor any other creature.

You are a creature..made by God. You cannot SEPARATE from your father..God

"He that believeth on the Son HATH EVERLASTING LIFE:.. ." John 3:36 NOW

"Who are KEPT BY THE POWER OF GOD through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." 1 Peter 1:5

"Now unto him that is able TO KEEP YOU from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy," Jude 24

"And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby YE ARE SEALED unto the day of redemption." Ephesians 4:30

". . .after that ye believed, YE WERE SEALED with that holy Spirit of promise," Ephesians 1:13

"By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ ONCE FOR ALL. . . For by one offering he hath PERFECTED FOR EVER them that are sanctified." Hebrews 10:10,14

    Claudia,

We have "locked in our targets" a few times on some threads. I want this post to not come across the wrong way. In all love that I can give from my heart in Christ i say these things to you.

God came to save sinners. He did not come to save the law keepers. This was why Christ was so hard on those that kept the Law. Its not that they too could not be saved. It was that it was much harder for them, for their trust was not in Christ but in their own works. Being free from the Law does not me we get rid of the Law. Our actions are nearly the same, but our reasons are not the same.

The Law is to show us we can not keep it. The Law simply points its bony finger at us and says...YOU ARE GUILTY!!

You say you sinned. I say..join the club. We all are sinners. We are not saved by what we do..or are we lost by what we do. Gods grace saves us. If you trust in your works..your not trusting in Gods Grace.

Once you see yourself as a sinner..you either change by doing Good or you give up on works and trust in God. This does not mean you stop doing good, it only means you do not trust in your works for salvation,

To change to good works..places salvation in your hands. Place salvation in Gods hands.

    In Christ...James
